Congratulations to Coach Hoolyfield and the Lady Rebels on a great year!

Congratulations Hamshire. You really came on strong at the end. I will miss seeing Johnson and Wright on the courts. They were good kids and did a great job for their school. Congratulations also to coach Aguliar. Fine job!

The officiating was outstanding once again. Very well called game. My only real question was in the first half when I thought they gave a 3 to CS when it was a 2 and Sutherland hit, what looked like a 3 and they gave her a 2.....I'm not sure if that was the clock keeper or what. The game was moving so fast, it was hard to get it sorted out. Thanks again Old Ref. You and Kelly are top notch!

Tori is fine. She had an x-ray yesterday and it is a deep bruise in her big toe joint. Should be ready to go Friday.

Very well deserved award. As Taylor's coach I have to make a comment. I am so blessed to be able to coach such a fine group of young ladies. They are the cream of the crop. Taylor Sutherland is the kind of player we want our program to be about!!! This young lady has played injured the previous two years and has never been able to show her true talents. This year she is healthy and making a huge impact!! Not only is she a sound player, she is a coaches' dream (imagine that, being Todd's daughter... ). She has never missed a practic unless she was at the doctor, even then, she would make it back to be present. She is an excellent student and just a great kid. I am so glad to see her get this recognition. Great Job Taylor.

Thanks Cat22. I have the best job in the world. Great kids, great parents and great support from our administration! Not to mention, I am so blessed to have what I think is the best assistant coaches in the state!!! Coach Davis and Coach Fogo do a tremendous job. Hats off to Mike for doing a great job with our post players. He works with them EVERY day and you can see the difference he is making. Coach Davis is in charge of our offense and is doing a great job as well. I\I'm surprised you recognized me in the picture....I'm a FEW pounds heavier!!!!! How'd you like the converse tennies????

First let me say how proud I am of Jamie's post. Jamie is one of our true leaders and a great competitor. I am more proud of her character than anything. As coaches, we try to instill good sportsmanship and winning OR loosing with class. It is a breath of fresh air to see this from this young lady. I agree 100% with her post. The HJ/ Orangefield rivalry has always been so exciting and is so good for girls' basketball. The OF girls and their program are 1st class and I so ADMIRE and envy their fan support!!! It is a tough place to play because of that support. We'll see you on Feb. 6th. I'm sure it will be another great game. And Gabe....thank you so much for the kind words after the game. You didn't have to walk over there and do that and I appreciate it. You do a great job....wish we could get that coverage from the Bmt. Enterprise!!!!

At the risk of beating a dead horse.......I am just so put out with our local media's coverage of girls' sports!!!! Channel 6 is probably the worst(maybe because that is the station I have watched most)...that is about to change. Monday they had the setx. rangings for boys but NOT for girls??? What a slap in the face..why don't you just come out and announce....sorry but we really aren't THAT intrested in the girls' programs! Last year we had 4 area teams at the regional round and I turn on the 6 o'clock news and they are covering the HJ-Silsbee boys tie break game in the Montagne without one mention of ANY of the girls games. I called right then to let them know how I felt (of course to no evail). I do not know what else we as coaches and fans can do to right this wrong. Anyone who has any suggestion, please let me know. I'm on board!!!

I've coached against all of these young ladies I think and my top three would have to be: 1. Teresa Witherspoon 2. Brandi McCain 3. Trevessa Gant LaQuan Stallworth from Silsbee would have to mentioned also.

This was a very physical game. The kids showed alot of fight last night!! Sharadan Priddy came off the bench and gave us some great post defense. Westbrook is ALOT better than their record.

Several years ago, after a HARD fought battle between HJ and O'field (to be honest, I can't even remember who won that particular game), Keith called me the next day simply to compliment our kids on their class. KK had sprained her ankle and Yoshica Spears had gone over to check on her after the game. It seemed a small act at the time but Keith took the time to personally call me the next day and compliment our kids and program. I still remember that phone call and I don't know if I ever really told him how proud that made me. Thank you Keith. The competition between HJ and O'field is always fierce but it is such a great rivialry with great fans like you.

Our young kids did a great job last night of stepping in and carrying us when our guards got in trouble. They struggled at times but got it done. Soph. Kelly LeGrande hit 3 3's for us and Maggie LeJune played very smart.

Who is HCYA?

She was at A&M. I can not remember if I saw her on the roster last year. You may want to go to their web site and check there.

Lady Hawks start time is 5:30 vs. Liberty

I talked to KB yesterday. She is doing great. She says her playing time has increased significantly. She recently had a double double and drew 3 charges. I think this impressed her coaches. Her grades are good!!!! She sounded good and seems to be very happy right now.

Wow......I didn't read about Ang! Way to go girl. You are right tigervoice..that young lady is a class act. I look forward to watching her this year!
