1.
oh i agree for the most part. for one parents have an emotional attachment to the game due to having children playing.  So when they say anything that has alot of adjectives or adverbs in it....emotions talking....  These parents are the ones that think lil johnny or lil suzie is the best player even though their kid rides the pine and can't figure out why....uhhhhh....they re not very good mom and pops.  REALITY. I played in a district when barbers hill and HJ were in it....  if you played at barbers hill in the 90s you knew how the refs were going to be same for HJ and i will admit the same for HF....cause i played there.
I think the same mentality that makes parents think that lil Johnny and lil Suzie should be playing is the same mentality that makes parents think that lil Johnny and lil Suzie are going to get the short end of the stick when it comes to calls. The only difference is their lil Johnny or Suzie happens to be playing. No matter what happened it was because you had bad calls against you. Hence, the kids grow up thinking that if things don't go their way it was because they were screwed. The one thing I was proudest about my parents is I never heard them say a bad word about any type of officiating when I played sports. I didn"t realize how special that was until I started reading SETXSports and saw how ridiculous some comments can be about how bad officiating is going to be on a game that hasn't even been played yet. When games were over with we talked about what I did well and what I needed to work on and dad was always ready to help me work on those things. He never made excuses for me. I really admire parents that do the same. Do some refs cheat? Maybe. Are some refs bad at calling games? Sure. Does that need to be a topic of conversation before a game is even played? I don't think so. Just doesn't sound like a good recipe for mental success.
 2.
I eat my words, I thought HJ was heads and tails above everyone else. I was wrong.  I know HF did  not win but they proved they was a worthy opponent. HJ is not as good I as thought. I based my previous comment on schedule. Well I guess you can throw schedule out the window.
You may have put yourself in a position to eat your words again. There is no way I thought HJ could play like they did the other night and still win the game against any opponent. But they did. That shows me they are probably still heads and tails above other teams in the district. I guess it's all how you look at it. If you only watched HJ play that one game I can see where you may think the gap is closer. If that one sample is enough for you to believe that HJ is not as good as you thought maybe the next game will convince you you may have been right all along and there really is no need to eat your words after all.
 3. Congrats to the Hawks. They did a real good job keeping their composure when they were down. Missing too many free throws early really hurt them. Still, Kingwood Park is probably the best team HJ has faced this year. Very good athletes and a good post game. They were quick and handled the ball very well. They had 2 or 3 players that could run, jump and score with anyone I have seen HJ play this year. Some really great defensive plays by HJ during the early KP runs kept the score within reach. Johnsons 3's were huge. They seem to always come with KP trying to make a run. The Hawks had too many turnovers, most of them due to the 2 or 3 KP players I mentioned above. HJ's press resulted in numerous points for the Hawks that seemed to put to rest several other runs by KP. HJ did a great job with their free throws late in the game to secure the victory. Again, Congrats to the Hawks.

 5. Congratulations to the Lady Hawks on a perfect 10-0 District record for 2 straight years. A great accomplishment.

Way to go hawks!!!!! Congrats to the freshman ( Bosha) for his 21 pt game. Who was the trash talker referring to this summer with team Sneed?  Do you still want to talk? Or did he show you better than I can tell you?
??? Bosha played a great game. I shook his hand and told him so. Look, I tried to recruit Bosha to HF.  ;D But even you should admit Donte Smith held him down in the game. Bosha stated driving and scoring when the HF coach decided to put our "select" players to guard him.
I hope that was a joke?? If not  how  could you think anyone held him down?? The kid put up 21 points :D :D
What select player guarded Gus all night? ;) ;D
 7. Come on TD. It was a 25 point lead in the 2nd quarter. Just at what time do you think "MOP UP TIME" started in this game. I saw Bosha take it to your Post and put moves on him that he had no answer for. I can't think of any turnovers he had. I can't think of any defensive problems he had. He played his game within the scheme that HJ runs and that means scoring on whoever is in front of him until the whistle blows. I don't know how you can downplay a freshman that scores 21 points. Sure Gustafson was big as usuall. He has the ability to make alot of opposing guards look like they can't play defense. Same with Prudhomme. But that freshman was steady thru the whole game. Never at anytime during that game did he ever play like a freshman. I agree, it isn't his "team" yet, but if he was at HF it would be. ;D
 8. HJ is playing very good basketball. They are handling the press very well and then attacking half court defenses with getting the ball down low, drives and open outside shots and making a high percentage of them. Their post are getting alot of offensive rebounds and getting put back points. Their free throw shooting is coming around so they are looking really good. HF is talented and played a good game. The point spread got into double figures early but they never quit and made a nice game of it. I predicted HF to be in the playoffs this year and nothing I saw last night makes me feel any different. HJ is really deep on their bench this year so when they sub the pressure keeps coming and that was the difference in this game and is usually the difference in most games they play. With only 2 seniors HJ should be good for a while. Good job by both teams
 9. I think HJ does very well distributing the ball. While they have several players that can score 30 points on any given night that is not the priority the players set for themselves. They will do whatever it takes to win, and that may be score 25 one night and then only shoot 3 times the next. No real big ego's where players will take stupid shots just to meet a point quota.
 10. HJ has been playing well this year but still not on all cylinders so far. I would love to see Jasmine Smith get more touches during the game. She made great strides last year and has the best jump shot in the area. Very hard to defend inside 12 feet. Post play is much improved this year and the guards haven't had any problems breaking any teams press. Haven't seen OF play this year but they are always fundamentally sound. You know it will be a good game and I will be a homer and take HJ by 7 with the final score being 52-45. No matter how it goes I don't think either team will ever get a double digit lead over the other. Another HJ/OF classic.
 11. HF played very well the first half making a high percentage of their 3"s and freethrows. The 2nd half was different. They tried running with the Hawks and lost their legs. I don't think they made a 3 the 2md half and they shot alot of them. That was the major difference in the game. The Hawks just kept going strong and finished strong. HJ needs to start shooting their freethrows better. I think at one time HJ was 3 for 14 at the freethrow line and that is not the norm for this team. I think HF proved why I think they will grab the 3rd spot and make the playoffs this year.
 12. I don't think anyone is downplaying BC's ability or the fact that they are getting better. Just people making comments about how HJ looked compared to what they have seen before. Saying HJ missed freethrows is in no way saying BC doesn't deserve credit. It just means HJ left some points on the floor that they "normally" make. There was a time when HJ could play their worse game against BC and still beat them by 40+. It is very obvious BC is improving.
