Comments like this are where the problems lie. Put yourself in the cops shoes and see how you handle the situation. I'll never take up for all cops, some are as corrupt as anyone. However, anyone who watches the video of this and can see the struggle and blames this on skin color is what is causing problems in this country. I have no idea if this guy deserved to be shot or not, but when he decided to resist arrest, anything from that point on is on him. Black, white or whatever. Making these things a race issue is what leads to what happened in Dallas last night. Instead of always crying victim why don't people comply with police officers and this wouldn't happen nearly as often. Now I absolutely believe there have been instances where cops shot black men that did not deserve to be shot, but they have shot whit men just the same. But screaming racism every time something happens to a black man make this situation worse not better.

I agree 100% on the Minnesota shooting. Not all facts are out, but seems like cop was the one in the wrong. I was referring to the Baton Rouge shooting, which at first glance looks like victim could have avoided ending. However, evidence could change my mind on either of these.

I think the bible said something about getting the stick out of your own eye before you try to get the speck out of your brothers. The media has a vested interest in making sure that we all keep choosing up sides. Controversy creates rating which equals more $$$. Nobody cares about the white kid that got smoked by the cops in Cali last week. Nobody cares when dozens of black kids get shot in Chicago every weekend. Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric from NYC, Sterling, and the dude from Minnesota yesterday. That's six I can name off of the top of my head. I can't name a single black person that has been killed in Jefferson County this year.... I'm curious as to why there isn't a national outcry over the lady that got killed in PAT Saturday by that security guard. i don't know why, but I have a nasty feeling it's because the crime doesn't fit the "white gunman kills black person" narrative that really gets us all going. I'm tired of a group that calls itself "Black Lives Matter" when they obviously put a lot more value on the few black lives lost to white actions and ignore the many, many, MANY more black lives lost to black actions. I think that's a tiny bit racist in its own way.
Nobody can admit that a young black man is much more likely to be killed by another black man than by a cop. Most people don't know that cows kill more humans per year than sharks. Cow attacks don't aren't interesting enough, but shark attacks have just enough sex appeal. The fervor is artificial. Same thing with the whole "cops are racist killers hunting down young black men" song and dance.
When a cop shoots somebody and it's unwarranted, I love to see them punished. The BART cop from San Fran that killed the guy on the train platform a few years ago.... Horrible mistake, paying the price.... Perfect. The cop from SC that gunned the black man down as he fled apprehension? Never should have shot that man in the back.... Jail time is absolutely deserved. I don't know if you ever saw the video of the other cop from SC that shot a black guy when he went back in the car to get his ID. That young man didn't have the disposition to be a cop. I'm glad to know that he will not be able to be a cop whenever he gets out of jail.
However, there are lots of times when guys just have to be put down. It's sad, but it's true. I thought the black cop from Orange was totally justified in shooting the white guy at O'Reillys in Orange a few years ago. Maybe I'm just pro-cop.
The fact is this. Most people like sausage, but nobody really wants to know how it's made. Enforcing the law and keeping the community safe isn't clean or pretty. It involves kicking a few tails, dirty words, and even shooting a few people every now and then. Watching a man being shot to death is a horrible visual. Thanks to the fact that everybody has an HD camera in their pocket these days, the horrible visuals of crime-fighting never more than a click away. I don't know why the young man from MN ended up shot. I'm not going to take his girlfriend's account as gospel, though.... And I don't expect to take the account of the police officer at face value, either. To this day people in Dallas were yelling "hands up, don't shoot" referring to Michael Brown, even though it has been absolutely proven that the "hands up" moment never actually occurred. From his employment history (the kid from MN) and his lack of a record, handgun permit, etc, I tend to expect that we'll find a cop that made a really bad decision and needs to pay accordingly. I'm anxious to see what the investigation uncovers. But that video was horrifying, and it's hard not to feel like somebody should pay for the way that young man died.... But that's based on my feelings upon seeing the aftermath, not based on whatever evidence the investigation actually proves.... Because the evidence could very well indicate something totally different than what my feelings are after watching that young man die.
I also suspect that Mr Sterling from Louisiana hastened his own demise with his actions. With that background (prior violent offenses, resisting arrest charges, recent drug arrest, and illegal possession of a firearm) and the fact that somebody had already called 911 reporting that Mr Sterling was threatening them with a gun that evening, combined with his noncompliance when the officers arrived all indicate that the officer may have been justified in their actions. Time will tell.
Its way past time that we all stop listening to people who want to use rhetoric to inflame our emotions and pit us against each other based on skin color, religion, political offiliations, etc....

I can't stand Odor. He always seems to find himself in these situations. So he is the common denominator here. However, it was one hell of a punch. But in Bautista's defense, things like this happen all the time and no punches are thrown. So I kind of see it as a cheap shot.

Odor started something with Conger when he was the Astros catcher last year. Odor is trash and one of the reasons I hate Ranger baseball.
It all comes down to last year when Bautista hammered that ball and bat flipped his way into the bat flip hall of fame. Passion and excitement. He just won a ball game for them. I'd bat flip too, no doubt. If the Rangers are still mad about that pegging him and then punching him is not the answer. I believe the peg led to the hard slide which led to the trash master, Odor, throwing a punch.

I think you referring to critizing all Muslims for the acts of Muslim Terrorist.  If that's the case, I'm one of them, and I have my reasons.   Based on information since 9/11/2001, I can only assume that most Muslims believe their Quran wishes all non-believers (Christians especially) dead.  The fact that you rarely hear any outrage from any Muslims over the atrocities committed, only reinforces my belief.  Add to that the impossibility of telling which might be the few good Muslims from all the bad, I simply lump them all as bad.
If Muslims merely thot of me as a sinner, or a bad person, or that I was going to hell, that would not be a problem to me.  Problem is, they want me and my whole family dead, and most people on this Forum.   That's over the line, so pardon me if I go a little over the line.

This has nothing to do with the issue at hand. The current rules are the current rules, follow them and no trouble will find you. This always a victim mentality is what wrong with our entire country. He is a big boy now. When he messes up, he pays the price. Just like the rest of the world. All you ever want to do is bring up that you were a D1 athlete and all the rest of us are incompetent on all collegiate sports matters because we weren't. It's pretty simple, follow the rules and everything will be ok. As far as should college athletes be paid, this is a totally different subject. Quit tap dancing around the subject to avoid being proven wrong.

yup.  and keep in mind that in houston isd you have 47000 high school aged kids.  in HJ its' more like 650..  so when you divide it in half and take the girls out, Houston has approx 23,500 boys in it's district to fill the teams of 40 high schools,  HJ has approx 325 boys to fill one team.  HJ is lucky to get a college quality player or two every couple of years (generally juco, D2, or D3).  Houston has hundreds of them.  So when kids in houston can team up with their AAU buddies and field 4A teams full of D1 and D2 talent, despite being a town of over 2,000,000 people, it's pretty frustrating when you're a fan of a really good small school team such as Hardin-Jefferson (Sour Lake, population 1800) or Silsbee (population 6,700).  HJ made a really nice run last season, pulling a last second upset over a really good (and legit small 4A school) Navasota team, only to lose to Sterling and their team full of college kids, and then Sterling beat Silsbee two games later to go to state.  I thought that was crap then, and i still do now.  The fact that a whole lot more teams like that just dropped in is crap as well.  I'd love to see classifications be factored using school AND city size to keep stuff like this from happening.
