Well I heard that Hardin had Scott Surratt of Carthage in the works. But Scott only agreed to take the job in 2026 under the following conditions. Vince Young and Calvin Johnson had to both father twin boys with girls from Hardin. I support everybody, but I'm a realist. Work brought me to setx, and I love high school and college sports. This forum is a fun hobby and people tend to get extremely riled up. I think its funny.

I comment a lot regarding HD...because HD fans are really something else. They want desperately to return to "glory" but never will. To think they will ever have the same success as the 60's and 70's is absolutely absurd. The town was at peak oil production, peak population, peak success. I've made it a goal to get that point accross. HD has become my "project"

I think Hardin will steadily improve, but are historically cursed with a pretty tough district. It doesn't help that schools like Kountze are taking athletes out of the gym. Make no mistake tho, their bball will suffer if football keeps improving. Very difficult to be good at everything.

I will say this, I've been all over the state. Setx has a lot of talent, but is for the most part worse than other parts of the state. I think it's because of money.

See that's what I mean. A team with 12 coaches and similar talent beats Hardin 10 out of 10 times.

8 coaches...and the 1st hour after school are split between JH, JV, and varsity. Which means none of them are getting coached like they should. Which hurts down the road.

Plus...what are those coaches teaching? There are schools in the state where if not every then almost every football coach on staff does PE, health, SpED, or some other cake schedule. Hardin can't beat a team that has more coaches, and every coach just has to worry about football all day. Not grading, lesson plans, dress code, etc..

Don't talk down to me.. like I'm ignorant or something. You seem to know quite a bit about what you're taking about most of the time on here..

But I'm telling you it's a fact. There are more small schools across the state than you think, where a school administrator (like an athletic director) does not have to do an 8$/hour job during the day. Like mow the field.

I personally think SETx is 10 years behind. But I bet there is not a single school in...say Liberty County... where the head fb coach mows the field.

He was gonna play at UH...but the entire coaching staff was fired the day before national signing day. And he got offers to go to Alabama, Florida State, and Notre Dame. But the scholarships were already gone by the time he was notified. And the recruiter wanted him as a preferred walk on at Texas...but he held out because of all of those offers. Then it was too late.

Liberty has won more games than HD since 1990.

And....aren't 3 of HD's "4 horsemen" Liberty kids? I know that none of those 4 "studs" are HD kids...but I'm pretty sure I heard 3 of them are Liberty kids.

Either way...Alto didn't win their district last year or the year before. So not only did the mighty, district champ, undefeated in district HD bobcats not get knocked out by eventual state champs...they got knocked out by a team not even good enough to win their district.

Say what you want to....but this is sounding a lot like the same old song and dance to me.

I've traveled the state and seen tons of dumps Mr Garrity, and Beaumont is right up at the top of that list.

Just throwing this out there.. The last 2 seasons were supposed to be the years HD returned to glory. And they went 7-4...and then 4-7. And if course 0 playoff wins.

11-11 with "good" teams.

Lovelady got 2nd in the 4x100 at the state track meet. Better hope none of those kids are back...HD won't be able to catch em.

I think the board turned him down. Didn't even get an interview.

I don't know why anyone that played in HD would want a job like that. I figure with all that success...any HD alum would be coaching in the college or pro ranks.
