1. A&M 20 Alabama 41 Note: A&M gave up 684 total yards to the Vols. This is Alabama.
2. Former PA Memorial and top 2015 recruit Corey Dauphine announced he is transferring from Texas Tech. A couple of rumors have him going to TCU or U of H. Nothing at all has been confirmed, however. My thought: is it far-fetched to think he would transfer to LU? If he did, he would not have to sit out a season. [Hidden Content]
3. I've met several of the kids who play for PA. Yes, they are chatty on the field, to say the least. I saw a kid take his helmet off on the field during the PN-G game and got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. Not a desirable action for him to take. However, I would never characterize these players as a team as being disrespectful, nor would I say that the coaches encourage them to act in that manner. That's something you don't know. When you meet these kids, I guarantee you that you will like them. They are very competitive. They have a strong desire to win their football games. And you can tell from watching them on the field that they hold one another accountable. Kary Vincent, Jr. is a total class act as a person. A very mature kid who will do well on and off the field at LSU. PA Coach Kenny Harrison will also not allow any kids to embarrass his program and the school. He has control of his program. I've had the opportunity to speak with him more than once, and his words convinced me of that. I'm not a PA person, but I like this team and program, especially in the 22-5A district.
4. I've seen both teams play. WO-S and PA are the best teams in the area. The key to beating the Mustangs is controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. PA can do that. Their defensive line is a beast. Their linebackers have good pursuit across the field, and they have the best DB in the area in KJ and his DB teammates are very good compliments. On offense, Elijah Hines is the most explosive tailback in the Golden Triangle. They are also the only team in the Triangle that can match WO-S's speed. With the Mustangs, no matter who they play, they will be prepared. They arguably have the best coaching staff in the area. With the matchup being even, it goes to an area of intangibles, and that's where you could argue that the WO-S staff will outcoach the opposition.
5. Angelle and Jones caught several passes on the line of scrimmage intended for them to run with the ball. That play was called several times and was about the only passing play called. For anyone at that game, however, you had to wonder why PA did anything but run the ball. It was working, and you keep doing that until someone stops it. Hines had over 300 yards rushing for the game, and that's not including a 76-yard TD run called back for a block in the back.
6. GTReplay will broadcast the game, and it will be shown on Time Warner Cable on Sunday morning.
7. Kelly will be wearing an old gold helmet with gray facemask (exact replica of Notre Dame) and a "Veritas" decal on both sides. For whatever reason, they are not wearing their traditional school colors.
8. Memorial vs. Atascocita will be a stiff scrimmage. I hope everyone comes out of that healthy heading into a Week Zero.
9.
Relax people let's not get our hopes up yet! Keep in mind it was just warren
Review the posts. No one is sounding overly-optimistic. The posts show what they did, and given no wins last season that is an improvement. Even I reported they will get a much-needed tougher test when they scrimmage H-J and Lumberton on Friday.
10. I am aware this is a sweetheart deal for the UIL, but if they were really concerned about the students, schools, and school districts, they would rotate this game between Cowboys Stadium, Reliant Stadium, the Alamodome, and Royal-Memorial Stadium. Everyone having to drive to the DFW area every year is not fair. Spread the wealth to more areas, and occasionally play the games closer to others' areas.
11. Rare that two of the very best teams in the Golden Triangle get together for a scrimmage. Thompson and Neuman are the most experienced and best coaches in the area, and you know they will not play their hand in a scrimmage. I did not hear about any injuries coming out of this game, and that's good considering how physical both teams are.
12. The scrimmage was much needed for Kelly.  They should have dominated Warren and, for the most part, they did. The first play of the scrimmage was a 70 yd. TD pass from Connor Moore to Allante Wingate. Overall, Kelly scored 4 TDs and the defense shutout Warren. On offense, Darrius McMahon appears to be Kelly's best running back. Wingate also played QB and showed he is more than capable of being an effective starter. Kelly's offensive line is the biggest they have had in recent memory and dominated the line of scrimmage as they should have against Warren. On defense, Mason Harris and Andy Romano were strong at the OLB position. The cornerbacks are much stronger than last season, and Kyle Reid is a returning starter as the ILB and brings strength. Armando Ledet is solid at NG and is spelled by Brent Booker (he is huge). John Darling, also a returning starter, is a force at DE. Kelly will get a stronger test this Friday in a dual scrimmage against HJ and Lumberton at Kelly HS.
