Silsbee 99 Houston Jack Yates 84/FINAL
TxHoops replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I do. That was the dumbest rule ever and cost Silsbee a share of the district championship. But you are right...once they instituted that asinine rule and enforced it against Vidor, there was no going back. I am assuming this is the first time it’s arisen these playoffs or any team who got screwed is going to have a helluva beef with the uil. -

The problem is Silsbee plays into the way Yates wants to play. Will be hard to be Yates’ fire with fire with a bunch of underclassmen. Heart says Silsbee, head says Yates. JY 92-Silsbee 78 -
Looks like someone found a 5th horseman. And if we don’t get more than 2 HD threads on the first page, you ain’t trying.

Safe travels. Thanks for coming down. By the way, the Yates by 16 I can buy. I haven’t been able to see the Lions this season and only really know 2 of your kids’ games for sure. I would say Yates by 9 but that is a complete guess, other than looking at scores. If the youngsters from Silsbee catch fire they can make it a game and maybe pull the upset. If they cave to the relentless pressure, could get ugly. -9 is just a hedge. After this year though, Yates is going to need to step up that recruiting game and bolster the lineup to keep up with the maturing Tigers. Next year may be tricky with Mr Griggs having another year left. But still plenty of talent to go around in H town. -

Clear Brook has two brothers who are guards (sophomore and Junior) - Smurf and Kemo Millender. They can really go. -

I had no idea Phylicia Rashad went to Yates. I now have to give them more credit. -

Zero unfortunately. Unless you count replays on the NBA network. He was also maybe the best GM ever. I was around to see him absolutely own team after teams in trades/draft picks. He was one of a kind. -

Having seen Silsbee now, how many would you favor Yates by? -

Tell those boys that for $5 you should be entitled to at least 1 rim rocker! -

Call me crazy but I think 3-1 (above average) when it counts is better than 1-3 (below average) when it counts. I think ole Red Auerbach maybe came up with the theory that playoff games mean more than regular season games. He was a genius like that. -

It is starting to seem obvious that BC played in the tougher district. If Silsbee wins tonight, proof is in the pudding. -

Buck a point seems fair, no? -
That’s because the UiL let’s the districts police themselves. That’s why Lancaster can have 2 in-season move ins immediately eligible to play and HF can have a kid who has lived in the district several years switch from a private school to his zoned public school and not be allowed to play. Makes no sense? You got it. And @SportsJunkie32 is right. Yates isn’t doing anything those guys up in DFW haven’t been doing for years. They create a couple of super teams per division and take them to SA with sweeps on their minds. JY (and some others) is simply fighting fire with fire.

Meh, the majority of the people talk WOS football. But you are correct that Silsbee has long dominated the conversation on this board. But those two are also the Gold Standard in their respective sports. Comes with that territory. Beaumont United also gets a lot of discussion since it’s formation and the combining of the two best big school programs in the Triangle. We’ve seen some long Lumberton threads too. Start winning and people are going to talk about you.

Correct. We can only assume GCM made up for the 2 dunk disparity in SMRJs. -

I think there’s a lot of moving in Mid-County. My understanding is Roschon from PNG was originally a Port Arthur kid. There certainly could be a multitude of reasons a family might want to move to a particular school district or another. -

Virtually unheard of 😉 GCM must have been killing with the SMRJs. -

Completely agree. They are both high major kids. And both would be the number one ranked kid in their respective classes (and were) in the greater Houston area but for Griggs moving back. I wouldn’t bet against either one of them eventually making money playing this game. Speaking of, TJ Atwood had a 50 piece the other night playing in Malta. -

I will say it again. United doesn’t bring their A game on Wednesday, they won’t make it to Griggs and Co. Foster is NOT a team to be trifled with. -
I’m with you. The middle paragraph especially. Well, the third too for that matter. I must admit I laughed when I read the title of your thread. Not that it was funny and I think it’s a great idea and maybe something that should be required in DC. But because it reminded me of the classic Gomer Pyle line from the Andy Griffith show - “For a fat girl you sure don’t sweat much!” I think that’s the kind of “compliments” we should expect here 😂

I haven’t been able to find that info either. I can share that I have been to a West Brook home game this season and tickets were sold at the gate.

Look his team whose coach you don’t care for is eliminated. You just make sure if you guys get Huffman, your Lions let them know “karma is a B.” Tell Wise when they hit a hundred, hit that gas even harder. They are all below average compared to JY.
