It was a tough call in real time but he was set. Should have gotten it right. At least it was only one call, the crew that worked the A&M/SC game a couple of weeks ago couldn't get one of those right. Texas drops another one. 0-2 this week but extremely tight games (well this one was until the final minute or 2) on the road against ranked opponents. Gotta think they will fall out of top 25 though. With A&M's continued decline and Baylor getting blown out at home today by Tech, may not have any ranked teams in Texas.

A&M Basketball---Co-SEC Champs!
TxHoops replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in College Sports Forum
I agree 100%. One thing I will say, this team with JJ Caldwell will be better regardless of who is coaching. He's one of those kids who is truly a coach on the floor. And he's almost impossible to stay in front of defensively. Once he breaks you down, he is uncanny at finding the best open look for his teammates. Instant offense. They do need to get better defensively and on the boards though. I just don't see steady improvement from Kennedy-coached teams like you should. In fact, it almost seems like a steady regression most of the time. That's usually always a direct reflection on the coach. -

I will hold you to it. I formally request the music of Run DMC and Ratt for the soundtrack... -

Dang. He took it down. Only video I've ever seen with such a diverse group of musical stylings - from "Old MacDonald" to "Kickstart My Heart." It was poetry with a drone. -

As I've said, I really think he's a good man. But this has been a consistent MO of the team's he's coached. He has gotten a lot of talent to campus in CS (although some, including myself, attribute an equal amount of credit to Stansbury there) and it would be a shame for it to not bear any real fruits. You only have a lot of these kids for 1-3 years so the window closes too fast in CBB. I just think if it doesn't pick up, I would be looking at other options. Buzz Williams would be a good choice IMO. -

To be clear, I think there are a lot of Aggies who are not huge basketball fans that may not know just how good A&M has the potential to be. With the right coach this could be a final four caliber team in the next few years. I really believe that. -

Wheels are off the bus. BK needs to go. A lot of youngsters on this team and it is looking like he's already lost them... -
It's okay. Everyone knew you guys were poor before this. Ever been to that dump of a state or you just buy their gear at the border Academy?

Can we add the "Dr. Feelgood" track to this video as well? -
Silsbee 95 Hardin-Jefferson 64/Final

Not sure about the number of turnovers but I saw the Ozen game. HJ lost by 25 or so but Saveat sat Boyd, Comeaux, etc the entire 4th quarter. Ozen feasted on easy baskets, dunks, off turnovers. And that was with Parquet. If I recall, he has the best game for the Hawks in that one. -

Awesome. Btw, that video beats the hell out of your other submission, "Cows." -
Yessir. I waited for 3 hours a couple of summers ago to eat there. I was mad at myself the whole time. Finally got my food, sat down, and the brisket was like nothing I had tasted before. Went to Louie Mueller's in Taylor the day before and it blew even his away. Would have gone back the next day. Don't know what he does with it but he's the best.

One good byproduct is this could have an impact on recruiting. Less kids from here going there and maybe Charlie can increase his already growing presence in the recruiting in that state.
-
We (Texans) donate a ton of money to that state (casinos). I have a very hard time feeling sorry for their financial woes. And by a very hard time I mean I can't. But I get your point. It is a shame for the kids.

Silsbee 95 Hardin-Jefferson 64/Final
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Your argument does have some merit. I believe the Tigers' last loss was to such a team with a score in the 60s, Liberty Hill. Obviously Silsbee is fully capable of winning such games, but it will be more challenging than games where they cause 25-30+ turnovers. Officiating is the other variable with the aggressive, pressure D they play. I really hope they don't run into a game where the officials call it tight as a string. They have the depth to withstand foul trouble but it could cause serious issues with their rhythm/tempo. -

TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Agreed. Barring a really off night along the way by both, it should be Silsbee or Wheatley in SA. I can't really see anyone else measuring up, although HJ could certainly upset either with a healthy Parquet and a lackluster effort by its opponent. Once in SA, anything can happen. -
Absolutely. Micklethwait's serves pretty good stuff too.

Franklin BBQ. Worth the wait.

It's nice to not be poor like those Tigers. Maybe we can loan them part of our $1 billion in holdings of gold...

Silsbee 95 Hardin-Jefferson 64/Final
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
You just beat HJ by 30. You aren't allowed to complain In all seriousness, this isn't a Silsbee team of the last few years. They have several threats from outside. IF they make it to State or win it, a big part of it will be the 3 ball. Agree with you on Devon. But what separates him from most guards who can break you down off the dribble is his exceptional vision. He is outstanding at drawing help defenders and finding the open man. A lot of times it's someone on the perimeter. -

To be fair, he's not that far off topic. Sharing the wealth (I.e., minutes) contributed heavily in the outcome of this one... -
St. Pius Knocks Off #3 Concordia Tonight
TxHoops replied to winwin's topic in High School Boys Basketball
All about matchups. If the SATCH that played API shows up, I would favor SATCH. Ozen is all about the guards and they don't have anyone that can hang with JJ Caldwell. Which is not a knock, most don't. I would think they would matchup better with Concordia though, even though Concordia beat SATCH. -

Very true. I don't think I would favor Concordia over Ozen either. But I do think it would be a highly competitive game.
