  1. Wow.
  2. Outstanding post. I'm out of likes or I would have tried to like it twice. As I've said before, whether it is English, Sutherland, Foster, Saveat, Clay Davis or Sigler (to only name a few), all are outstanding coaches and their schools are lucky to have them. It's the same as when a debate starts on the football side on whose better between Neumann, Cornel T., Dubois, etc. To be honest, I'm not interested in those debates because as far as I'm concerned, those are rich people's problems. Folks should really count their blessings they have are fortunate to have one of them teaching their kids...
  3. I guess what I don't understand is why a few Ozen fans seem to get their panties in a bunch when English is complimented on the job he's done. This started with a statement I made about how much the Bulldogs have improved this year. If you saw them at the start, and have seen them now (and know anything about the game), you really can't argue this fact. No one was putting down Saveat. In fact, he's been consistently complimented in this thread too. And I know many of you love Boutte (he is routinely brought into these threads especially by one of you), and I have nothing but respect for him. Clearly he was a heck of a coach. But it would be like every time his name is invoked, someone pointed out - "well, he is certainly no Bob Hurley or Morgan Wootten." We have several outstanding coaches in this area and to praise one is not to deride another. Just wondering what the undercurrent is because some certainly seem to have an agenda where Brian is concerned.
  4. Careful, I may have to report you to the authorities if you continue to dole out that kind of abuse...
  5. Oh facts? Let's just say English almost always beats the teams he's supposed to beat (did he lose to LCM?) and beats those he shouldn't much of the time. But let's use you guys' logic. Saveat is 0-2 vs a first time head coach so obviously he's not as good as Ozen's rival's new coach, right? And since a very average coach named John Brady led LSU to a Final Four, he must be a better coach than one who has never accomplished that. Like say, a Pete Carril? keep dealing in "facts," sport...
  6. Out of likes, Gabe. Suffice it to say, you were accurate in the description of "whomever it was."
  7. I don't understand that. But then again, the few times I've seen them, he is underutilized IMO. Which makes the final score more of a head scratcher. I can see given that why it is even more disappointing.
  8. I wouldn't be nearly as accurate as you with the lines. I don't know how you do it to be honest. I would defer to you 99 percent of the time. Just because you miss one out of every 50-100 isn't a criticism My apologies if it came off that way. Probably the only game this week I had a little more insight on. And to give you credit, one of our district games I thought you had backwards ended up going to the team you favored I've told you before why I don't play. Although I know it is a good time and everyone enjoys it. And it is a lot of work for you.
  9. I don't have his win total (a little help Bulldog fans) but I can tell you it's a ton, especially at his age. And his teams are consistently competitive, even though there is often a big talent gap. Do I think he would go deeper in the playoffs consistently at other area schools? Yes I do. But he's is where he is and that's just speculation and opinion. But again, the fact that you have to ask the question and don't see it for yourself just proves what a lot of us already knew...
  10. Don't derail this thread with your WOS envy. You have been wrong enough about the Mustangs on the football board. No reason to bring that nonsense over to this one
  11. The fact that you have to ask the question is very telling. And you may be the only one in this thread who doesn't understand that simple concept.
  12. You may be correct. However, in football, I know a starting qb who was suspended for the year going into last season and another kid who was a very high D1 recruit who also got kicked off the team several years ago.
  13. If you understand the game and have watched Nederland play, you would need "facts" to understand he's a great coach. I'm no Nederland fan but can very much appreciate the job he does there. I'm not going to get into a Saveat vs. English debate because I think Saveat does/has done a good job with the Panthers as well. I have an opinion but it doesn't really matter. Both should be commended on how they've done with their kids.
  14. I did not see the game tonight and have not seen Josh act up when I've seen Ozen in the past. So I can't comment on what he did or might have done. But I can comment on the twins. I know their father quite well and if they act up, I can assure you they get a foot in their behinds. Aaron Sr. doesn't play. But I'm not sure how you meant the above comment. I CAN see what you mean if you are comparing the intensity in which they play. That is a pretty accurate comparison IMO.
  15. The fact that you fail to see the beauty in English's coaching could not be less surprising to those who know the game. I am sure you would be equally unimpressed with Kevin Foster. On a brighter note, I hear Barnum & Bailey's is hiring...
  16. I have a feeling that line will be well used next Friday as well
  17. I thought it would be closer too, but thought St. Thomas would win by around 10 or so. No idea how the game went but I do know they have one kid you guys could really struggle with.
  18. Kind of turned out how I expected. A lot of us thought it would be another dog fight (no pun intended). Nederland continues to impress me, especially with how the season began. I don't know why I am surprised at this point, it's what we should all expect from a Brian English-coached team. At this point, they need to learn how to finish and win these types of games. Very good showing but I am sure disappointing too. Two really good opportunities to pull off a big upset lost. But I am sure they will learn from it and continue to improve...
  19. When I saw the line on the pick ems was Bulldogs -13, I wanted to see if I could bet my life's savings on St. Thomas. On the money line...
  20. By the looks of the scores so far, looks like Big Ned may continue to be a thorn in someone's side in years to come...
  21. It should also be noted that if the grades and test score(s) are there, this also opens things up quite a bit. There are a LOT of high academic schools who need kids who can qualify for admittance and be able to play. The kid's money comes from the academic side but if you are playing and going to school for free, who cares? On that note, if he does have a high gpa and SATs, he might consider going to a Ryan Silver camp. He's out of Cali and most are on the west coast but those camps are generally well attended. And he's very well known and connected with those types of institutions.
  22. Plano West only had exactly 3 I think - Mitchell, Hogg and Davis. Although Jamabo probably could have but wouldn't have been able to go to a UCLA for hoops like he did football. I think Bullock and Williams could play somewhere at the next level. Joe Joe is a really nice player too but would be tough to transition at his position and height in college.
  23. Fair enough!
