i'm an HJ fan and alum, and i think you're out of mind. i love the hawks as much as anybody, but silsbee beat them at all facets of the game. they beat them defensively, in 3 point shooting, freethrow shooting, and they out-rebounded them. it says a lot that HJ managed to close that gap at the end, but it was too little and WAY too late. HJ has a good team, and they have some impressive wins, but had Silsbee played HJ's schedule they might be 29-3 or 30-2 at this point. when you're a reasonably close second behind a state championship-calibur team, there's nothing to hang your head about. I think most hawk fans were kind of wanting to believe that they had a better team than silsbee before this game (i know i was), and before the head to head, the argument could be made for either team. now the argument is settled. The tigers handled the hawks relatively easily IN sour lake. they're the best team in the district.

exactly... HJ has a very good team, but a few HJ fans want to attribute this loss to an off-night and foul trouble. AAW, you took the words right out of my mouth. Silsbee's tenacious defense caused the hawks' poor shooting, and their explosive offense cause the hawks to get into foul trouble. Enough with the "if this", "if that". If silsbee's team wasn't so dang good, HJ would've won. How does that sound? Now HJ is certainly good enough to hang with silsbee, and the way they cut that lead down at the end was proof. But no more excuses or justifications. Silsbee is the team to beat this year.

it would be perfect for him, just like the Texas Tech job was. he could come in to a mediocre team, not do much, but be hailed a genius for the few upsets he manages to pull off.

what is it they say? I resemble that remark.

by all accounts they have a dang good team. they beat silsbee, silsbee easily handled HJ, and it might be a stretch to say that HJ can handle them without having seen them play more than once.

congrats on being the one classless silsbee fan after the big game. i've seen a lot of talk since the game, but the silsbee fans have been humble in winning and the HJ fans have been gracious in defeat, with the exception of........ you.

Dude HJ lost just quit crying :'( and comming up with dumb excuses like well the HJ freshman team won.......... who cares about freshman basketball at this point......... Its all about varsity and aparently HJ's is a little on the down side this season ............. pure class right there... you're right though, 27-5 is pathetic.

they're 2 of the 3 best 4A teams in the area. if you set it up for each team to play the other two times, i wouldn't be shocked if everyone beat each team once.

for the rematch, use the UIL again. have the sub-varsity games reffed by sutherland and williams. we want our head coaches in good shape! seriously, though, thanks for the good info AAW. this defintely sounds like something that needs to be addressed. can the UIL look into the situation, or is the beaumont chapter able to do pretty much whatever they want?

i don't see either team being as competitive next year. they'll both be good, but unless they both have some players come up out of nowhere, i don't really expect a state run from either. of course, these are two programs you can never count out until the last whistle of the season.
