I worked there last year, and I can say that it worked. Didn’t have but maybe 8-10 cases in the entire school amongst kids the entire year, and no spreading in any classes. I’m at a new district this year and we had a massive outbreak at the start of the school year. At least 180 students across 4 campuses the first month of school. Over 40 students got sick at my campus in that time, and it’s a similar size to the school I worked at last year. That said, the students learn a lot better under normal conditions, and a lot of them now have natural immunity, which will slow outbreaks in the future. I certainly enjoy teaching without a mask.

I don’t really blame him for the ice storm, other than he was in charge and it went poorly for the state. And I don’t disagree that few leaders have handled COVID well, I just really had an issue with him going all in on the shutdown for so long, only to completely lift it so closely to when people who wanted to be vaccinated had the option. At that point, what’s another few weeks?

I'm going to disagree on how well he handled covid. I know that I don't hold the same views on Covid as many conservatives, but IMO there were two viable options to address it: the first option was to do nothing. Let it run it's course, encourage people to be smart, and treat cases as best you could. The second was to lock the state down to some degree until the vaccine was widely available. Protect the masses from themselves until the people who wanted the vaccine were able to receive it. He somehow did both of these options in the least effective way possible: he shut down the state in various ways for about 9 months... reduced capacity in various public places, cancelling school, closing different businesses. BUT, then he completely opened the state back up just 2 months before vaccines were widely available, which undoubtedly led to many deaths of people who had no choice but to return back to school/work/etc. just 6-8 weeks before they would become eligible to get a vaccine. So the Texas economy took a pretty big hit because of his policy, but then he ended the policy just about 2 months before it could've made a difference. I was dumbfounded when he did that.

What's funny is the prosecutor has claimed that had Rittenhouse not shot Rosenbaum, he (the prosecutor) likely would've brought arson charges against him. I find this exceptionally hard to believe.

Wow. HJ with an And-1 posterizer dunk -
Just flipped over the the game and saw they’re down 57-11. Did the shewolves graduate everyone from those teams that were winning all those games?

Kind of a surprise. Grand Oaks was a pretty mediocre team last year. I know Huffman lost their stud PG, but didn’t they have a lot coming back? Of course, I don’t know how many they had out for football playoffs. -
Scary proposition. This guy is a loon, but a lot of people are down on Abbott right now. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Republican unseat Abbott, because I’m afraid the right will not get out and support him as much the next election. With Texas’ handling of the winter storm, COVID, etc, I think a lot of folks lost some faith in him. His push to go super conservative afterwards trying to regain Republican support is going to hurt him with moderates. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

I didn't even realize Marshall was 5A. Went to college there, and still hunt right down the road.

HF will struggle to score. Their QB is good enough that he might be able to bust off a long run or two to get them into the end zone. They won’t be scoring on long drives. I think the HF defense should hopefully be able to make some plays and keep it from getting out of hand like they did against WOS -

If HF keeps it’s closer than gatesville did then they’ve done a decent job. Carthage’s offense isn’t quite as good as the last couple of years, but they’re still by far the best team HF has played this year. Their defense doesn’t give up much. -

Because I didn’t think they were that much better than coldspring? -

HF has had a fantastic year. It sucks that Carthage in the second round is their reward for it. Hoping for a best case scenario similar to their performance against WOS where they’re able to play hard and keep it respectable. -

Dang. Headed to the deer lease. Was hoping it would be somewhere between my house in Fannett and Carthage, which I drive through on the way. -

If you took away the videos and the circumstances (shooter, victims, race, politics, etc), and described the events as they unfolded in the most basic terms, it could go into a textbook about self-defense. A man carrying a rifle was attacked by another man who threw an unknown object at him and then attempted to take his gun. The man attacking the gun holder had already threatened his life earlier in the evening. The man with the gun shot his attacker multiple times in an attempt to maintain control of his weapon. As the shooter began trying to call for help, a mob began to chase him. The man with the rifle ran for safety, but as he retreated he shot and killed someone who hit him in the neck with a heavy piece of wood after he'd fallen down, and shortly thereafter shot and wounded someone pointing a handgun at him. With the threat ended, the man with the rifle quickly retreated from the area to avoid any more conflicts.

My little cousin plays both ways for Harleton. They weren't looking forward to this one. Glad Newton took their foot off the gas. I've been told Harleton is the smallest 3A school in the state this year, and will be dropping down to 2A with the realignment. They have a fairly young team and should have a pretty good season in 2A next year.

Does my 5-year-old vs. a 4-hour ride to the deer lease count? Because that one is tipping off at 4, and factoring in food and bathroom breaks probably won't finish until after 9:00.

I was pretty much on it with EC winning by 45 and Woodville winning by 35, but Diboll made a liar out of me and dang near did beat buna by 60. I'm curious to see what happens tonight with Anahuac and Coldspring. Should be a great game.

There is zero doubt that if you took all of the exact same circumstances in this case, moved them to January 6th in Washington DC, and changed the shooter to a young black man shooting three trump supporters who were trying to hurt him, he would have 100% support from the left. AS HE SHOULD. Because that would be self defense, just like this case.
