HF has had a fantastic year. It sucks that Carthage in the second round is their reward for it. Hoping for a best case scenario similar to their performance against WOS where they’re able to play hard and keep it respectable.

If you took away the videos and the circumstances (shooter, victims, race, politics, etc), and described the events as they unfolded in the most basic terms, it could go into a textbook about self-defense. A man carrying a rifle was attacked by another man who threw an unknown object at him and then attempted to take his gun. The man attacking the gun holder had already threatened his life earlier in the evening. The man with the gun shot his attacker multiple times in an attempt to maintain control of his weapon. As the shooter began trying to call for help, a mob began to chase him. The man with the rifle ran for safety, but as he retreated he shot and killed someone who hit him in the neck with a heavy piece of wood after he'd fallen down, and shortly thereafter shot and wounded someone pointing a handgun at him. With the threat ended, the man with the rifle quickly retreated from the area to avoid any more conflicts.

My little cousin plays both ways for Harleton. They weren't looking forward to this one. Glad Newton took their foot off the gas. I've been told Harleton is the smallest 3A school in the state this year, and will be dropping down to 2A with the realignment. They have a fairly young team and should have a pretty good season in 2A next year.

Does my 5-year-old vs. a 4-hour ride to the deer lease count? Because that one is tipping off at 4, and factoring in food and bathroom breaks probably won't finish until after 9:00.

I was pretty much on it with EC winning by 45 and Woodville winning by 35, but Diboll made a liar out of me and dang near did beat buna by 60. I'm curious to see what happens tonight with Anahuac and Coldspring. Should be a great game.

There is zero doubt that if you took all of the exact same circumstances in this case, moved them to January 6th in Washington DC, and changed the shooter to a young black man shooting three trump supporters who were trying to hurt him, he would have 100% support from the left. AS HE SHOULD. Because that would be self defense, just like this case.

I think Diboll will beat buna by 3 scores. Maybe 4. I’ll be a little surprised if they beat them by more than that. I don’t think they’ll struggle, I just don’t see it being a major blowout by 40+. Buna played their entire pre-district schedule against 4A schools, two of whom are really solid this year (HF and OF). They lost to woodville by 32 the first game of district, then only lost by 20 to anahuac and 9 to EC. Those three teams are all in my opinion as good or better than Coldspring and Diboll.

good luck with that. they'll make a run to the regional finals and sort it out with Yates about going to state, but they aren't beating BU.

I really struggle with how delusional the left has become in general. Don't get me wrong, there are some seriously delusional people on the right as well, but the ratio is skewed incredibly far to the left. All of the evidence, and there is a LOT of it, (including clear video of all shootings) points towards self-defense. Nearly all of the prosecution's witnesses are proving the case of self-defense. The prosecution is not following the law and disobeying judge's orders in an attempt to illegally sway the jury (or to put the weight of dismissal on the judge to avoid losing when the jury returns). And somehow, through all of this, the left has come not to the conclusion that Rittenhouse was defending himself, but that the judge is a biased, neo-nazi, unfair cheater? Some of the news articles and social media comments I've been reading are mind blowing.

Unlike a lot of the nonsense passed off as news, this is a real issue, and should be dominating headlines. It's a shame it's not, but we all know why.

Just doing a little research, and it's almost comical how weak 9-3A is. two teams in the district have winning records. Between those two teams (Coldspring and Diboll), only one of their 14 combined wins was against a winning team (Diboll's win over Coldspring). Only one of their five combined losses came to a team with a winning record (Coldspring's loss to diboll). The combined records of the other 4 teams that their losses came to is 15-25. You could take any team in 10-3A and put them in that district and they'd make the playoffs. I don't think Coldspring and Diboll are terrible, but I don't have any really proof that they're any good. I expect three 10-3A teams to advance through, and for Buna to give Diboll a better game than people expect.

EC hasn't scored 60 all year, and Huntington hasn't allowed 60 all year. EC has also had some key injuries. EC by 40. Woodville hasn't scored 60 all year, and Crockett hasn't allowed 60 all year. Woodville by 30. Anahuac is going to be the best team CS has played all year. I'll be curious to see how this one plays out. I think it's a 1-score game, but Anahuac has a much better resume. Diboll has one good win all year, against another team who's record was inflated by their terrible district. To put things in perspective, Buna goes 4-2 in that district. I think Buna gives them a game and loses by a 2-3 scores.

If nothing else perhaps some folks can post the schedules and update results for the teams they follow. It’s hard to devote as much time over here because there’s so much less traffic.

It's this, absolutely. Due to certain medical issues he was unable to work and literally spent 10 or more hours a day on here working on the site. I don't know that we'll ever get it back to quite where it was.

What a comeback!

In all seriousness, I was 11 games back after week 3. With that considered, I'm pretty pleased about being 16 games off the lead at this point. I've probably been one of the top 5-6 over the last 6-week period.
