Every season at some point we all get the "worst" call. I do remember last season a 106 yards int return for a td against Kirbyville called back for a phantom penalty.

WOS has benefitted from those kids leaving. I think the original poster was wondering if another school was reaping the benefits of some of the"transfer" kids, or that's how I interpreted it. If that is the case then you'd think it would have to be LCM, but they have not had a big leap in production if the WOS did in fact go there. WOS was competitive in 4A but they do not have to really worry about making the playoffs in 3A, therefore, they have definitely benefited. In regards to the that is nonsense. While they were on a skid the 2 years before dropping to 3A ('02-'03)I definitely remember a WOS team getting eliminated by the Tigers in '98 as they reached the quarterfinals in 4A. They also played PNG in the biddistrict in '99 and Lincoln in '01. In the other seasons the Tigers had usually been in the hunt until the end.

hhhhmmmm.....because until Kville backs up the talk and hype it is just that talk and hype. I like how Jasper is just sitting there all quiet like and people are overlooking them. Jasper is well, Jasper.

Kelly when did you get confirmation of this? I have been getting multiple calls since yesterday stating yes and no from officers to people involved. I hope this is not the case. He's a great kid.

I know we all like football fridays but every other sport plays during the school week. As someone stated it become problematic with some travel especially in January on a long basketball trip when it is raining and or possible freezing. We gripe here but what would this do to those west Texas towns?

Be careful about giving out too much bulletin board material this season. I know it fired a few squads up last season to Kirbyville's detriment.

Donovan is improving in Galveston. Xavier had successful surgery last night and was intially scheduled for release Saturday. That has yet to be determined. Their grandmother is improving as well. I am most concerned now with the other student who was a passenger in the Expedition.

I was called earlier and spoke with some family and friends. Donovan is currently scheduled for more CAT scans in Galveston and doctors are optimistic. Xavier is scheduled to have surgery shortly for a fractured leg. Unfortunately, I have also just received word that another student, a passenger in the other vehicle, is in really bad shape in ICU.

That is alot of serious cash from the sponsors. Very few area schools can compete with those types of "donations".

WOS probably would have been the 4A champs in that district down south. PAM may have all of the talent in the world but they have yet to live up to their potential and hype. Ozen had more talent than nearly every team in their district and couldn't do squat last season. WOS expects to win and does. I can't believe I am defending a foe. This is a Silsbee-WOS thread go start a bigger school thread if people want to beat their "We are big school therefore we are better" chests.

.....and you're crazy to think they can't. Consistently over the past 20 years WOS has been synonymous with winning, district championships, and playoffs. PAM has yet to live up to their hype although talented. WB is definitely turning the corner after several dismal years.

At this point with Kirbyville being predicted to win the district they definitely have a big burden to bear. So if they don't beat WOS, Jasper, or Silsbee are they underacheiving? Ozen will turn things around and be a Cinderella. Dayton should take a step back a bit.

Those 7 on 7 drills has got to help in conditioning if nothing else.

This seems to be the first real year in years that true 2 a days could be held since school starts so late. We'll be into scrimmages before kids hear the first bells.

How many schools still do 2 a days? I know several who only do 1 due to the heat.

Until the champ is beaten they are still the champ. Saying that, WOS currently would have to be considered the better team. Silsbee does have some talent but they are young this year. If anything the Tigers may start slow ,but the Tigers will be a force for the next several years.

I do as well, but I wonder what effects if any it will have on the upcoming fb season. Would certain players be banned from the athletics? Locally when any students (athletes or not) are caught with any illegal substances they are expelled for at least a semester up to a year.

'98 was a great run. I really liked the '93 squad with McGuire and Rhone in the backfield. If Jasper wouldn't have broke Mcguire's leg there is no telling how far that squad could have gotten.

As Cowboy's coach I disliked him, but IF he was a real candidate for LU you have have to love it. It would create an instant national spotlight on a new program. Bring back the wishbone. ;D 8)
