Initial reports were Donovan will be released for the 4th game. Still got to play it safe coming off a head injury however.

The tendancy is for the schools that seem to get the most talk usually get tabbed overrated. At this point most of the posters from the 4A district seem to be from or at least discuss Nederland much like most of the talk in the 3A district revolves around Kirbyville.

If in fact you are a player and your number is 24, you have greatly done yourself a disservice. Not only would I anticipate your coach getting you to settle down on these boards, but you have labeled yourself to be served some punishment by the opposing team.

Last season he said he wasn't a player. So which is it? ???

I do not believe he is in school therefore no number.

Has Kirbyville created a few more trick plays this offseason or something?

I remember 2 years back looking at Coldsprings in warmups. They were loaded talentwise, but the deciding factor was their lack of discipline. It reminded me of the PA Lincoln team of '01. In our district the wildcard is Jasper.

Choking. Only playoff game Silsbee was favored in over the past few years they won. This isn't about playoff successes or failures, it is about a select few Kirbyville fans running their mouths only for their team to be intimidated when the big boys from WOS and Silsbee run through the tunnels. With the returning players the pressure is on Kirbyville to succeed and get over the hump. The other schools do not have the pressure. They are the underdogs. You guys keep kicking the dogs and before you know it they will drag you down and maul you under the porch.

Keithan should be the top Hancock IMO. I was in Kountze when all 3 came through and he was the most dedicated and team oriented player I have ever seen. When you take it upon yourself to call and ensure your teammates are at the 6 a.m. practices you know you are a leader.

The ones that really stand out to me were the old PNG around 1990. They had the tribal markings down the pantsleg. I vividly remember Ron McGill in those.

In a true rivalry there is no guessing or records that matter. It is one of those games where one team can be 0-9 while the other is 9-0 and it is still a hype buildup, blood flowing, heart beating, fight to the end. Our 3A district has old rivalries and new.

You can't make everyone happy. The smaller unsuccessful schools won't be happy until they are basically defaulted a playoff spot. It takes more than mere numbers alot of times to be successful. All you have to do is look at Kirbyville. They are one of the smallest 3A schools yet some have them favored in football over the supposed giants in WOS, Silsbee, and Jasper. If it is not fair for the likes of these "bigger" schools to play in 3A with almost 400 more kids why would it be fair for these "bigger" schools to have to play the PNGs, Ozens, etc. that have 600-700 more kids in 4A? There is no real answer to satisfy everyone. While have more classifications or even subclassifications may work around here, I don't see more classifications being practical in other regions of the state especially in the west.

Silsbee has always ran the veer/option. What kills me is when the qb is getting closed in on and the rb is open for the pitch but never gets the ball. Opposite is when the qb has a wide open lane and then pitches to the rb who is already being hit before the ball even gets to him. It is always easier for us in the stands to see it I suppose. When the veer is clicking it is awesome but when it isn't it can be frustrating to watch.

WOS was heavily favored. I remember folks were shocked it was so close. Silsbee has to get the young guys in the skill positions seasoned before the talk should start.

As Rhoads goes, Kirbyville goes. They were a different team when he wasn't on the field.

ST that is not cool to even use last week's accident in any football discussion. Noone knows what anyone's playing condition will be if that is even an option. More to life than football. Football is a team sport and with or without certain players the team is young and will take a few bumps.

Talked with Travis earlier. They are excited about making it bigger next year.

......and we're off! Seriously, I know you love your team, but you really have no idea how detrimental you were to your kids last year. You singlehandedly had our guys froathing at the mouth ready to throttle your squad. That should have been evident by halftime last year. I imagine WOS and Jasper have you circled as well.

I would venture to say a coach that caves into parental pressure doesn't have a very successful program. I have always thought the PeeWee leagues for football, Little League for Baseball, and little dribblers for bball were great to help get kids focused on the sports and improving, but they can be the most negative political groups in the community when somebody's kid doesn't get the "star" position in high school like he had when involved in one of these groups.

What is the date in August?

I'd love to relive that Silsbee-Nederland game from '93. McGuire was awesome.
