Exactly. No disagreement on your point. Just laying out there why someone might not necessarily believe the po po is the one smashing their door in...
-
You’re speaking from the stance of a regular citizen. If you’re a drug dealer or some other kind of “bad guy” or even an informant, for that matter, you may be susceptible to a variety of folks trying to knock down your door...
-
Man, you definitely pointed out the pertinent information, but without an an actual accounting of the incident in great detail, it would be too difficult to award blame. I will say that if this “no-knock” warrant is a real thing, that definitely sounds like a dangerous practice for both sides of the door. If someone busted through my door unannounced and my weapon was close by (which it usually is), I’m going to assume a defensive posture and begin shooting.

Unfortunately CardinalBacker already stole some of my thunder, so I’ll go deeper. Stick with me on this one. These numbers are what I found on the internet, then I extrapolated them myself to come up with some apple to apple comparisons: Population: Whites - 234,379,202 Blacks - 40,610,815 Total whites and blacks - 274,981,017 (W=85.23% & B=14.77%) W on W Homicide 2018 - 6,088 B on B Homicide 2018 - 7,400 Total white and black homicides - (W=45.13% & B=54.87%) So, even though whites account for over 85% of the white and black population, they only comprise 45% of the total same race homicides. Blacks account for an underwhelming percentage of less than 15% of the white and black population, but take credit for well over 1/2 the same race homicides at 55%. To put things in perespective, if whites killed whites at the same rate that blacks killed blacks, there would be about 42,706 instead of 6,088 - more than 700% increase! However, if blacks reduced their percentages to the level of whites, there would be only an approximate 1,055 black on black homicides. So, explain to me again what the real problem is Mr. Bogey Man?

I will still watch. I just won’t agree. But you know who definitely won’t be watching? The estimated 350,000 black citizens who have been killed by other blacks in the last 40 years. Does the black community REALLY think that Black Lives Matter?
-
That’s because “Kap” decided to kneel during the national anthem. And now AMERICANS gone hate. Just like he hates the country that gave him millions of dollars and a platform to spread his anti-American views.
-
I understand what you’re saying. But don’t you think that if the black community placed more value on black lives by killing less of each other then it would have an even greater impact than any other action? Is it the justice system or is it the black community that is doing the most harm to themselves? Should we all quit pointing a finger and begin looking in the mirror? Black lives DO matter. So how do we convince black individuals of that?
-
I’ll say this. I generally don’t get my motivation about life or make political decisions from the advice of a pro-athlete, a Hollywood actor or from a pop singer. But when I saw what Drew Brees said about not kneeling during the national anthem, man I was really proud of him. But now, what a cowardly punk. He lost respect from my point of view. What a little freakin be-otch.

You never commented on my post. Cuz you can’t.

I was just asking a question. I, like you, don’t know if it was racially motivated. I’m trying to sort out the details, so I can have a feeling about it one way or another. I respected the fact that you admitted that you’re not sure either. Then you began to attack me for being in the sticks too long. You don’t know me. I’ve not said anything about saying this was any less than murder. I’ve never said anything about race. Then you try to paint me as a backwoods hillbilly from the sticks. Both my parents were in the USMC. My dad for 30 years. We lived all over the place. In San Diego, my two best friends were Japanese and Samoan. At another station my two best friends were Black and White. My mom’s first husband and father of my older sister was Hispanic. So my sister is Hispanic. When I was 8, we had a “little brother” who was 3 months old, a black child. We lived in Tyrrell Park In Beaumont. It wasn’t real popular with either side of the races in the mid 70’s, but it never phased us one bit. So don’t tell me about seeing the forest for the trees. If we are going to use cliche’ phrases, then get your head out of your a $$. It’s people like you who admit you have no idea if it was racially motivated, but you’re willing to paint this as an injustice to black men only. You, my blind friend, are the racist! And if black men would quit killing other black men, then you would decrease homicide to black men by 90%!!! “According to 2014 FBI data, 90% of African-American homicides were committed by African Americans.” - USA Today So get off turning “whitey” into the reason black men are being killed. Look in the damn mirror!

A lot of speculation with this question for sure. I don’t know the 1st thing about police academy or rookie training, but I would think there would be (especially in today’s environment) a pretty big chapter on ethics and protocols. They were screwed either way.

Do you think Floyd’s death was racially motivated and why?
-
I hope you’re wrong, but I wouldn’t doubt it.
-
So maybe there’s something very possible I don’t know. When the store owner called the cops on Floyd, did he tell the dispatch, “Oh by the way, let officer Chauvin know it’s Floyd. Here’s his chance...” , or was it just by chance?... Nope, Watters is right, musta been planned for sure. How in HELL do you suppose that could have played out??? Seriously?
-
This is the only social media site I visit as well other thanYouTube.
-
Oh lord...Jesse Watters...what a dork. A hit job. Maybe it’s linked to JFK somehow. I read where Floyd had visited Dallas once, AND (get this) Chauvin ALSO visited Dallas before. Give me a Flippin break.
-
Good Lord, I wish every man and woman in America had to watch that video! Especially about the Cowboys! Seriously though, what a great great message. Good find 5gal.
-
Lol. Very observant. Not totally true though. If I’m ever wrong, I will definitely say so. Sadly I’m almost never wrong! 😇

Here are 3 questions to which I really want to know the answers: 1. Why is this killing defined as racial? Are we just making an assumption, or is there evidence that shows some proof. I am not convinced one way or another. 2. Why did the cop keep applying pressure to Floyd’s neck even after he lay motionless? Before you answer, just know that your answer is your opinion only and not necessarily the facts. 3. What part did Floyd play in his own death?
-
I’m not miserable. I was just having fun. It’s not even my honest thought. Just giving some Regional humor.
-
So I agree and disagree at the same time. Let’s talk about the disagree part, and maybe we can educate and understand more. Why do you think Floyd’s death was a racist action? Could it just have been a $ hithead power hungry cop that didn’t know when to stop?

Something wrong with my ballot. “Who Cares” was left off. 😎

BISD board member is a NAACP member???

Then we better start clearing out the school boards all over the place. Including Our dear old Lumberton ISD. -
BISD board member is a NAACP member???
SmashMouth replied to 5GallonBucket's topic in Political Forum
I get your point. I do. The problem is that with your criteria, you couldn’t have ANYONE on a school board. Are you saying that if someone is a member of the NAACP and also a school board member then they may lean towards helping black students more? Awarding bids to more black-owned businesses? Pushing a different agenda in classes that you don’t agree with? Don’t you think that happens to an extent (whether white or black) anyway? Let me ask you this. If a retired teacher was on the school board, would that be a problem? What if they were a member of a teachers association? I’m saying you wouldn’t give it a second glance. But don’t you think that person would lean more toward giving teachers more pay? Would you balk at a Mormon or a Jew being in the school board? What about a Muslim? Can you honestly tell me your problem is not mainly that you don’t agree with the NAACP? I can tell you right now, I don’t agree with LOTS of things they promote. I’m not a member. Can’t see myself joining anytime soon either. But I don’t take issue if an NAACP member is elected to the school board. Those that don’t like it can vote him out at the next election or even run him/herself for his seat. Or is it just that your prejudice won’t let you accept that answer. I will admit I’m prejudiced to a degree. I think we all are. But I think we ALL share the same fundamental human rights. That’s what America is. That’s WHO WE ARE!
