Who ever takes the NED job is in a lose lose situation.
Why is that? Do tell....

Dodge is smart. Didn't take the Ned job.
TD has no interest in coming back to this area. His son and grandkids are at SLC , and daughter close too. Realistically, what proven HC is coming here? Ned will likely get a coordinator looking to move up, kinda like the Injuns. And hopefully as good. jmo

Its a completely different culture across the board. Barrow has caught a lot of heat and owns some of it but its a Nederland ISD issue. I read a lot about kids playing multiple sports and all that. It really goes to overall involvement. PNG encourages a culture where kids are involved at a early age one way or the other. From students doing broadcast during games, 75 girls in drill team, band, and all the way thru into their athletics. Nederland needs to take a hard look at why their students are not getting involved. I might be wrong but I believe if your a cheerleader or drill team at Nederland you are not allowed to participate in spring sports, but I know at PNG they can. Why does one place have this type of participation in all there organizations and literally across the street their number shrink every year. One answer culture. Culture starts with your leaders and there is more than one leader at Nederland who should have to be answering these questions. Barrow and a lot coaches are going to take the bullet for this and rightfully so but their is still plenty of people from Principal Natalie Gomez to our Superintendent who need to take a hard look at the type of culture they are creating around them.
Amen......and spot on. One thing about our neighbor school across the tracks....If there's not a place for you to fit in, it's cause you don't want one. Lot's of good things happening over there. I've always been a Huge supporter of Monte and company but he's gone now and it's time for change. Nederland doesn't have all the home growns and 2nd and 3rd generation kids anymore. So many have moved across the river, and to HF, Lumberton etc.......This isn't as big an issue in PNG. Just not as many diehard born and bred Bulldogs(CULTURE). Everyone needs a place to live but, Nederland is saturated with duplexes , apartments, and rental property. Say what you will but alot of these kids aren't diehards and necessarily Bulldogs due to moving in, out and around too much. This is a leadership problem, and it's in the lap of our City leaders. The ISD is saturated with kinfolks, classmates and GOB's. This can lead to an environment of complacency. It's uncomfortable to discipline kinfolk. This isn't saying Ned is all bad, it's just time for change. Top to bottom, and not just the coaching staff.

That's all in the past now and NISD is taking the proper steps to see that the future is brighter. Ive always respected Neds program and wished them the best, I still do.
Yes, time to move forward. One last thing. If its indeed true that the Head coaches of other sports at Nederland are undercutting football and or other sports, maybe it's time they too are dealt with accordingly. A statewide search is on to hire a Head Football Coach -AD. Internal issues imo should be dealt with Now rather than left to the incoming Leader. Whatever steps are needed to cleanse and unify the cause should be taken now rather then thrown in the lap of the next man up.....jmo

To my knowledge, TD made 2 trips to the area when Joseph was hired. Much can be handled through zoom meetings and the internet. He's not required to attend practice, pep rallies, booster club meetings, just the vetting of candidates to the sup......It's really a reasonable sum for everything that's at stake.....

What specifically am I wrong about!? Go check them out at camp fun, or walk the hallways during transition an tell me I'm wrong. Some people have no clue on what it takes to win at the level PNG is winning right now. Can Nederland improve from how awful they've been the last few years? Yes, but they WILL NOT make deep runs in the playoffs with the kids they have up front!! Smh, people acting like Nederland is a coach away from going to State haha what a joke. Until Nederland emphasize kids to be multi sport athletes, Skill positions running Track and Lineman participating in Powerlifting as well as get some quality Big kids moving in to the school instead of kids who can't speak English then they will have a HUGE hurdle/hurdles to get over.
I concur, the Jimmy's and Joe's were not there last year. Especially in the trenches. Here's to hoping a new staff can reignite the fire, and draw kids to the program. Injuns have a good crop of kids at the moment, and the coaching as well.
-
My biggest question. Is it true participation is as down as advertised? Do we have a bunch of kids not participating because of the coaching staff? Can someone answer this?

My guess (hope) is Barrow and the Super have been talking about this for a few weeks. Everyone sees the writing on the wall, most of all those two. If so, it could mean steps were quietly being taken in the background to identify solid candidates, beginning before the announcement.
Admin didn't wake up said day and say...I think I'm gonna force the AD=HC out today...This was in the works, with a plan.

It better take as long as it needs to be to find the right coach, don't you think? But, again, I think Nederland has learned their lesson on NOT what to do!
Absolutely, just seems the process has been going on longer than we all know....Hearing good things and hoping for the best. Pretty sure this has divided the status quo of the community, which is to be expected. Also think the Sup has his feet to the fire or he wouldn't have made this move.
-
Just a hunch but, I'm thinking this process wont take as long as expected.

Coordinators gone for sure.....As good as the injun coach was, we don't need that!!!!!🤣

Monte didn't wake up this morning and say. Today's a good day to retire. This has been in the works for a few, no telling WHO has gotten a phone call.
-
Say what you want about Monte, he was and is a class act. On and off the football field. Wishing him nothing but the best in whatever his plans are and sincere gratitude for his efforts.

Hopefully there’s a sound plan to go outside….. This wasn’t a surprise to anyone, especially those responsible for hiring his replacement…. I’d be willing to bet a former coach is on the search committee….

I would think that the confusion was due to a PN official being part of a Houston crew.....Rather than a Bmt crew....
