The key is for him to get a very good OC and especially DC. They need quality coaches at all positions, especially the OL and secondary

I sure hope he can do it. I am not really a spring training guy due to other sports going on at the same time and the loss of a scrimmage, however he has got to find out and evaluate the talent he has even though a few players in other sports will miss out

ST is a must this year....He has a whole new system to implement as well as evaluate personnel. As the AD  its on him to make sure ALL that play football participate, as much as possible. Football puts buttss in the seats and fills the coffers.

You are some-what correct and some-what not.  Owens was RT's DC.  I can say with 100% certitude that RT called the plays both at Vidor and at TJ when Derouen was there.  Neumann was HC at Nederland when Owens left in '95.  Doesn't mean he didn't apply.  Not sure.  Larry Walker got the TJ job when Owens left.  Then Marler got it.  It is my understanding that Owens gave Neumann his first high school job.  I do know he was the secondary coach.  I believe, for the first 7 years, Jay Law was TJ's DC.  Law left for Vidor in 1989.  I also know that Neumann was in the Houston area for 1 or 2 years before he got Ned's HC job.  So, that would leave 2 or three years at TJ after Law left.  Was he the DC during that time?  No sure.  But, again, for historical accuracy, I'll try and find out.

Yes, DeRouen had the title....RT called plays....And I Think it was Celaya who was after the job at TJ, not Neuman.

Looks like he's going to be a good one.  He knows what Dodge knows and he knows what Dodge does.  Now, the interesting question is:  Will he have the Katy philosophy on offense or will he run the Spread?!  Personally, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him have an under the center pro style offence (Katy's) and run #1 until his tongue is hanging out!   Going to be interesting to watch this play out!  Also, my guess is that he'll have spring training.

Agreed.....Hoping for more of a ball control, pro style offense. And get back to playing good defense.

I know PN-G is a football school first and foremost - 28 district titles, 16 seasons with ten or more wins, ten regional titles, eight state championship appearances and four state titles speak to that - but we really are blessed with an embarrassment of athletic riches at PN-G. The baseball program has made four state championship appearances and won it once; three of those appearances and the victory have all occurred in the last 25 years. The softball team has made two state championship appearances, both in the last 25 years. The volleyball team is 3-0 in state championship games. For most of the last fifteen years, both the boys' and girls' soccer programs have been major regional powers, making regional final appearances several times. If I recall correctly, there was one season where both teams made it to the regional final. We've fielded two or three state champions in various track activities plus a few dozen more state track meet qualifiers, and are always competitive in powerlifting. We used to be a real power in tennis. Sports-wise, basketball is really the only area where PN-G has consistently underperformed.

Add in all the academic accolades - the years of blue ribbon designations, thirteen straight district titles in UIL academics from 2001 to 2013 and several consecutive years of dozens of kids advancing to regionals, a handful to state and one kid winning a gold medal in creative writing at the state UIL meet. For several years, PN-G offered more dual credit hours than any other local high school, Kelly included. And then there's the performing arts. The band has made, what, four trips to the state marching competition? Straight ones all but maybe three or four seasons since the UIL started holding regional marching competitions 50+ years ago, plus how many different awards from local marching festivals and competitions? Not to mention the hundreds of PN-G students who've achieved all-region and all-state honors in band and choir over the years, and a very competitive theater program. There are whole hallways at the high school lined with trophy cabinets filled to the brim for the different performing arts groups.

Football is king at PN-G, but there are many, many more reasons to be proud to be an Indian.

That's good stuff..... and don't forget the coaching staff is undefeated, and 1-0 in post game bar fights.

  5. Uncle Larry did fairly well with Rotten Press Boxes, grass fields, and long lines at the restroom......Not long ago he was begging for new jerseys while other teams had 2 different helmets with several uniform choices, (and colors). Not everyone can afford or is willing to pay for all new. . Ned's problem is not about fluff.....It's LEADERSHIP in the Athletic program. Academics are fine, WIN and they will come,

It's easy to throw opinions out there about how certain ISDs spend their money and how well they manage it.  This is straight from TEA 2022-23 school year.

"The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes."

Exactly................School financial integrity rating of Texas (First) and TEA gave the Injuns a B......Poor old Ned got an A from both.
