Happy birthday whenever it is, but I'd be cool if it was Week Zero! 😄
I'm sure coach disagrees with you.
Lots of work to be done.
There will be a complete and total change in philosophy, culture, discipline and not to mention a totally foreign offense to be taught and implemented.

All depends on who the AD is and what his priorities are.
Need to hire a football coach that is in it for the long haul, and willing to put in the work to develop a program and culture. Most people want instant success, that is not going to happen in Tarkington.
They had the right guy and ran him out of town. Then Bass came in and wasn't willing to stay the course and build a program.
Definitely takes a special person in places like Tarkington.

Replacement is on staff, this job should go to Lane O'Conner.

East Texas, Marshall Mavericks, will be official tomorrow at noon.

If they get Coach A, and keep Bronson as DC, they become a state contender in 3 years.
Alvarez has never coached the caliber of athletes he’s about to coach. It will be interesting to see what kind of program he builds and sustains there.
IMO he’s one of the better coaches in the state of Texas. What he did at Kirbyville was nothing short of a miracle.
Jack Alvarez is taking the Marshall job.

Slow start to this thread.

I know Rowe was a longtime coach in this area and he was in an AD only role. I wonder if he got himself another Coach/AD Job.
Nope, something all together different.

Yeah but I'd imagine that a Supt. would want to pick someone they personally have worked with before. A coach that takes this job before the Supt. is hired would probably be on a shorter leash. Not sure it matters because they can't keep a coach longterm. Whoever is hired will be gone in 2-4 seasons. I know that tends to be the trend throughout the state but just hard to imagine a coach can establish a program without longevity.
It is impossible to win in places like Tarkington unless you bring in a coach that is willing to stay for the long term.
Theses places are not plug an play situations.
A coach needs to be given time to establish a program, with expectations and trust, and develop his players his way.

To me, the difference in this one was the couple of series right before the half. EC had just picked up a 1st and goal at the LRA 6 with under 2 minutes left in the half with the score tied 14-14. A run to the 4 out of the wildcat formation set up 2nd and goal. EC set up in wildcat again but tried to fool the Bee defense with a jump pass over the middle that was picked off in the endzone and returned to the 10. LRA had only 1 timeout left and 90 yards to get in endzone. They hit a 74 yard pass play that took them from their own 13 to the EC 13. 3 plays later they score and take a 21-14 lead into halftime.
LRA got the ball to start the 3rd quarter and marched down and scored giving them a 28-14 lead that they never relinquished.
This momentum swing was too much for EC to overcome.
Spot on with that assessment, IMHO, East Chambers was the better team and should have won the game. The lack of pressure on the QB did them in.

Head Football/Athletic Director job is open
Are they looking for a philosophy change?

Coldspring by a bunch, Crockett is not tough enough physically or mentally to stand up to the pounding that Coldspring will bring. Could get ugly early.

Westwood will take the 3 and Crockett will take the 4, with Hunnington in a close 5th
So Huntington has no chance to beat Westwood?
Just asking, because if I remember correctly they put it on Westwood in Palestine last season.

I know there is somewhat of a thread on this but lets make it official..
Diboll 4-0 (Hosting Crockett)
Coldspring 3-0 ( Hosting Westwood this week)
Westwood 2-1 (Loss to Diboll 35-0)
Crockett 2-1 (Loss to Westwood)
Hunnington 1-3 (Defeated Trinity) (Bye week with Elkhart and Westwood to finish the season)
Trinity 0-3
Elkhart 0-4
DIboll and Coldspring in the drivers seat of the district right now.
Westwood is playing this week to stay alive at would at best could be the 2seed in the district.
Crockett is doing the same but not likely to win over Diboll this week and should finish out 1-2 over the next 3 weeks to lock down the 4 seed.
So playoff look is the first 4 listed and going to be an interesting 3 weeks as this shakes out. Coldspring and DIboll have been playing good football so it should make for a fun ending to the district.
Trinity and Elkhart are gearing up for basketball season
Diboll and Coldspring are the class of the District.
Could easily see this ending in a 3-way tie for 3rd and 4th.
-
Diboll and Coldspring are definitely the class of this district.
Would expect the District Championship to come down to the head to head week 11 matchup.

Many, many true statements here, but 5-5 is possible just about anywhere with proper scheduling, a great culture, hard work and good coaching. And then on the rare occasion that you have a really good class or two then 7-3 or 8-2 is always a possibility.
