Maybe year after next.
Any news?
Anybody seen a suit wearing unidentified individual walking the halls?
And you are correct, it is a process, rarely do miracles happen in year one.

Good for them.
Now, do you feel bad for the rest of the team, of course you do, but one of your own caused this and the coach allowed it to happen by allowing the him to play. What's worse is it all could have been avoided if the coach that walked him off the field would have simply escorted him to the lockerroom immediately.

Horrible incident. Kid should be jailed. Kid should be expelled and removed from school. Players and coaches should not be punished because of the barbaric behavior of another 18 year old kid. Truly selfish and idiotic behavior of one student will be a stain on the school and it’s programs for a long time.
How do you justify not holding the Coach accountable?
Especially after finding out that this is not a one time incident? That this is a repeat of behavior that occurred in another sport.

Yes punish the school number 1 it’s a TEAM sport they could have stopped him but didn’t. Number 2 like previously put he did it a soccer match last year and turn around and did it again. Obviously he has anger issues or any issues that you listed above that are greater than sports... get him the help he needs before returning onto a field. Obviously they neglected that once already. So I agree punish the school entirely. Fire the coach. Send out a message. UIL better if they want to keep referees and recruit more because there is already a shortage in the state and this incident won’t help them out any if the punishment is light.
Amen
I think a forfeit is in order.

Awesome, this is a great site.

In some places the Coach would be fired on the spot, and rightfully so.
If you aren't coaching it, then you are letting it happen.
Ultimately, the behavior of any player, especially on the field of play, is the responsibility of the coach and a direct reflection of the coach.

It wasn’t his teammates’ fault. It wasn’t his coaches fault. It was HIS fault. It was HIS PARENTS’ fault. Or even possibly he may have been abused, molested, tortured, who knows. I’m just saying his coach probably didn’t give him the green light for those actions. He did it of his own accord. Punish him...

I agree, it should be an honor that is earned.
Too many coaches don't care, and they don't want to deal with the upset parents.
Too many coaches don't care, and they don't want to go to the trouble of actually making a decision on who is better.
Too many coaches don't care, and they don't want to upset coaches in their district by not voting for certain kids.
Too many coaches don't care, and they think just because a kid was on the district championship team that he was the better player.

Because the linemen sold it. The center, QB and receiver were the only ones who moved. That, and the Trinity defense was not paying attention. Got to coach em up better.
I've seen defensive backs get beat worse on plays where they were paying attention.
It wasn't like he was standing all by himself in the end zone with enough time to eat a sandwich before the defender got there.

Is that a question or a statement of fact?

First question, is Lumberton an upper class, upper middle class or a lower middle class community?
Not sure what the financial situation is in Lumberton ISD, but I would think they would be able to pay a coach better than they do.
Second question. does the community just not support athletics as a whole, or is it the fact that historically they have been a baseball school and football is the red headed step child?

not giving up
It is far from being over.
WOS showing life, if CS gets completely conservative WOS could turn this around.

WOS trying to give this one away.

WOS looking confused and CS looking confident.

Still amazed that people actually think just because you run a variation of the SPREAD that you can't be a smash mouth, physical, downhill, ball control, power running football team.
OH, and God forbid you actually throw the ball. I know some of you thing the forward pass is sacreligious.

So are you saying you either have it or you don’t, and small unsuccessful programs should quit trying to win? I disagree. I’ve never been one to give up or accept the status quo. Anything is possible. You just have to change the culture.
Nope, not saying that at all.
Saying that Lumberton needs to invest in a Coach that understands the limitations and has a track record and a plan to overcome those limitations. As opposed to hiring a coach who has been in the best possible position for success like the coordinators at LT, Katy, Allen, etc.....

It's laughable to think that a coordinator from LT or WL would make the difference. You mentioned two schools that have kids with unlimited resources and a community that NEVER has to discuss what kind of coach is needed to make the difference. Literal D1 athletes and future pro players. Plus.. I'll bet good money that their coordinators would rather stay where they are than take on the head gig in a historically failed football program.
So very true. Do those coordinators have to deal with:
1. Community and athlete "buy in"
2. Limited resources
3. Average to below average athleticism
4. Lack of commitment
5. Small, inexperienced staff
etc........

Need a coordinator from Lake Travis or West Lake
Yea, because those guys know how to take a challenged culture and turn it into a winning culture?
Rarely, do guys like that turn around a program like Lumberton.

Two-time defending state champions don't go down easily, especially when they have the two-time defending offensive and defensive MVP from those state championship games still on the field.
