1. Walks cost the Pirates this one and, coupled with Livingston's victory over LCM, possibly any shot at a playoff spot. Foshee pitched great for Vidor through 4 leaving in the bottom of the 5th with no outs, one on, and a 3-1 lead. However the wheels feel off when Vidor proceeded to give up free passes to several Indians. PNG capitalized with a few timely hits and when the inning was over, Vidor's 3-1 advantage had succumbed to PNG's big inning who entered the top of the 6th with a 6-3 lead. Vidor is now in a must win situation vs Livingston next week and in all likelihood needs to win 5 of 7 their second time through the district schedule to have a shot at a sixth straight playoff appearance. Is it possible? Yes. Will they do it? Only the baseball gods know and they probably won't spoil the surprise until later in the season...
2. This would be a HUGE win for the Pirates after their loss to Ozen
3. Vidor has struggled to score runs consistently in district this year, only scoring in five of twenty eight innings this year in district play (excluding their game vs Central). If Vidor can finally find someone to step up and get a big hit with runners on, they may be able to scratch out a few runs and get a big win against the top team in 20-4A. Not only would a Vidor win greatly impact who walks away with the district title, but beating PNG would put the Pirates back in the playoff race and increase the importance of the Livingston v. Vidor matchup next week and when they meet again to close out the regular season. Ive got: PNG 7 - Vidor 3 but obviously anything can happen...
4.
No need to keep him from playing in Vidor.  Let the kid play.  I know there are "problems" but maybe baseball maybe only outlet for kid.  So many people would rather focus on negatives, that's easy to do in anything. We ALL can think of someone we know &how they got another chance, and FINALLY made the best of it.  Sometimes it takes the right boot going in the right place to make a difference from the right person. That's what I hope for this kid.  Talented, he needs to be on a baseball field, even if it's against us.
Well said. Not sure why this is even a discussion on this forum or why the Enterprise even wrote this story. Something about grown adults posting a story about a troubled kid many do not even know just does not seem right. It is a good thing no one followed me around and made it public knowledge when I made a mistake (or even several mistakes) or decided to make a change because I thought another location or avenue gave me another chance. No question this kid has things going on that need to be resolved. And no doubt that those things are more important than a "game". People are right to mention how society has changed how issues are addressed by parents and administration and how kids react to mistakes. However, it doesn't seem appropriate to channel that all completely to this situation and determine how this kid's situation should be resolved. We all react differently to given situations and will have to take responsibility some day (some sooner than others). Guess its crazy to think that maybe this was just in the cards for this kid to end up where he is now, and that he may just respond differently to a new head coach, new AD, new friends/teammates/influences, and a new environment and turn his life around... Na, thats a crazy story and could never happen. Right?
5.
True, and from '02 -'11 Ned has made the playoffs 6 times , winning district 4 of those years.  Vidor has made the playoffs 5 times with 0 playoff wins and would have been sitting home in '09 and '11 if it were still three teams going.  Notice that I said consistently made the playoffs.
I did notice that you said "consistently made the playoffs." Thats why I don't see the relevance of playoff victories or district titles. Like I mentioned before, Ned has done big things and is a top notch program. In fact, if this was regarding the success of the two programs, you would hear no argument from me that Ned is the better program. However, the facts speak for themselves on the argument of "Vidor not consistently making the playoffs until the four team format". 2007 - LCM, PNG, Vidor 2008 - PNG, Vidor, LCM 2009 - Ned, PNG, LCM, Vidor 2010 - Ned, PNG, Vidor, LCM 2011 - Ned, LCM, PNG, Vidor Vidor started their current five year streak in 2007 under the three team format. In fact, Ned started their current three year streak in 2009, the first year of the four team format. Five straight has to be more consistent than three straight. Additionally, Ned missed the playoffs in 03/04, made the playoffs in 05/06, missed the playoffs in 07/08, then has made it in 09/10/11. Hardly consistent, from the way I see it. But now I'm getting off track also, as the argument is over Vidor's consistency and not Ned's. Like I said Ned has been getting it done over the last three seasons, no questions asked. But pinning Vidor's success on the four team format does not seem appropriate, given their streak started two seasons before the change and has continued since. Its true Vidor finished fourth in 09/11 but that got them in under those seasons' format and many decisions were made knowing that four got in, not three. You can't say with certainty that had it been a three team format in 09/11 that things may have played out the same throughout the season (ex. who to throw against who) and the same teams would have certainly made it. They played and made decisions based on the given format at the time.
6.
Try never.  Vidor didn't start consistently  making the playoffs in baseball until it was expanded to four teams.
Easy bigdog... From 2002-2008 (expanded to 4 teams in 2009) Ned made the playoffs 3 times, Vidor made it twice. In fact Vidor has made it every year since 2007 and in those first two years that only allowed three in... Ned was the team that was the odd man out. No question that Ned is a great program with a lot of success but I would not be so quick to attribute Vidor's postseason appearances to the 4 team format... 2002 - PNG, Ned, WOS 2003 - LCM, PNG, Lum 2004 - PNG, LCM, Ozen 2005 - Ned, PNG, LCM 2006 - LCM, Ned, PNG 2007 - LCM, PNG, Vidor 2008 - PNG, Vidor, LCM 2009 - Ned, PNG, LCM, Vidor 2010 - Ned, PNG, Vidor, LCM 2011 - Ned, LCM, PNG, Vidor

There is zero excuses for Lumberton not to be a strong contender in 20-4A over the next three years, and the Raider community should accept nothing short of multiple playoff births during this span. Lumberton has not been to the post-season since 03' even with the expansion to four playoff teams over the past 3 seasons. No reason for that. Its time for results...
Don't forget the tough district they are in.... PNG, LCM, and NED are always going to be tough.... With Vidor surging here and there...
Cant argue with that. But just because those four teams have been there over the years does not give the other teams an excuse. The players from PNG, LCM, Ned, and Vidor are constantly changing and those teams win no matter who graduates or who returns. Every team is undefeated in district right now and while the district is no doubt one of the most competitive in the state year in and year out, there is no reason why these other schools can't change things and find a way into the playoffs. Each player and coach wake up and put their pants on one leg at a time. You can't carry over wins from previous years. And trophies on the shelf is to reflect on the past, not determine the future.

9. Any update? How did Vidor score and who is on the bump? Thx for the info Titan
10. 4 walks and 2 E's in the top half of the 1st for the Raiders? They have got to clean it up if they want to compete in district. They have too much young talent not to be competitive in 20-4A this year. Lumberton needs results. Do you have a line-up for the Raiders or know who is on the hill? Thx for the info
11. 12 k's and only 1 earned through 6 is solid by Fregia. Pirates need more outings like that to get rolling before district. Do you have any other details from the game Titan? How did vidor score? Hopefully we can get some updates from tonights game.
12. Who threw for both teams? Any details on who hit well? With a combined 26 runs, someone had to have a solid game at the plate...
13. Any details on who hit well in this one? With 17 runs, a few players had to have a pretty note-worthy game. Good to see Vidor come out strong in a game finally, they needed this confidence boost. Also good to see Vidor pitching well, they will need it come district.
14. No love for Lumberton sitting at 5-1? No victories against prime teams but taking care of business should probably count for something. Not quite sure how 20-4A has become a four horse race already, and those four teams do not include 5-1 Lumberton and Vidor (they have started slow out of the gate) who has five straight playoff appearances... But I realize these are only opinions and everyone is entitled to their own.
15. Losses to Westbrook (a game in which they lead until the end) and Silsbee, both of which are tied as the #7 team in the rankings, is nothing they will hang their head over. While you are correct in saying its not the start they would have imagined, it will not be indicative on how their season will pan out. Im sure they will tip their hats to WB and the Tigers for being the better team at that time and get back to work with three more games left to play this weekend.

17. Any information on the Silsbee v. Vidor matchup that started at 3:30???
18. Is no one giving updates or game summaries for this tournament?
