1. How was Powell's velocity today? Very impressive to see a kid battle through two serious injuries at such a young age.
2. Anyone have the full LCM/Vidor tournament schedule? Would be much appreciated.
3. Whats the report on Land, Moore, and Lantrip? What kind of velocity do these guys have?
4. After day one of real games, it looks as if Livingston has a very real shot of breaking the mold and adding a new team to the regular "big four"... Solid guys at the top of the rotation put Livingston in a good position for a strong showing in 20-4A.
5. Anyone have a wrap up on who performed well for both teams during this match-up?
6. Most distinguishing characteristic for the teams on the list is solid pitching. Defense, hitting, and coaching all have large impacts but pitching tends to be the deciding factor. The way HS baseball is set up, teams with two quality starters tend to be there when the smoke clears. Although health and grades are never a gimmie, how do the top two of each team's staff much up? Ned - Duplant / Raines or Brown PNG - ? LCM - Fults / Carline Vid. - Peno / Foshee Liv  - Moore / Lantrip Ozen - ? Lum. - Arsenault / White Cen. - ?
7. 2002 - PNG, Ned, WOS 2003 - LCM, PNG, Lum 2004 - PNG, LCM, Ozen 2005 - Ned, PNG, LCM 2006 - LCM, Ned, PNG 2007 - LCM, PNG, Vidor 2008 - PNG, Vidor, LCM 2009 - Ned, PNG, LCM, Vidor 2010 - Ned, PNG, Vidor, LCM 2011 - Ned, LCM, PNG, Vidor 2012 - ??? appearances: PNG - 10 (fifteen straight), LCM - 9 (nine straight), Ned - 6 (three straight), Vidor - 5 (five straight), Ozen - 1, Lum - 1
8. Has anyone heard of or seen any of the Vidor scrimmages/ practices thus far? If so, how is the team as a whole and individual players performing early on? I know they lost most starters and several key players from last year's team, so who should we expect to step up and will it be enough for a 6th straight playoff appearance? I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of info on the team so far... Where is everyone? THANKS!
9. Should have saved some of those hits for the second half of district  ;)
10. How does the rest of the pitching staff stack up after Smith? Seems like having solid a #2 & #3 option for relief/best of 3 series in playoffs is crucial to us having success like in the past during the post season...

12.
I thought this thread was in regards to underclassmen on varsity....It has been highjacked for jv baseball. ???
Agreed. This thread is to inform setxsportsters of freshmen and sophomores that will make an impact on VARSITY this season. Lets leave the comments regarding JV players (and coaches for that matter) to the thread labeled "Sub Varsity Games".

Weisbrod is on the JV since Tuesday.
Has Weisbrod pitched yet? I hear through the grapevine he throws 90 mph. I don't know the kid but I would suggest you should probably check your grape vine's creditability... 90 mph on JV = highly improbable to say the least, that is unless he was driving down I-10 holding a ball out the window
13. Also 17 playoff series victories in 10 years for Stone and PNG... Incredible Any luck on regular season head to head results from these guys? Wouldn't be surprised if the top four have nearly even head to head records splitting most district matches.
14. 10 playoff appearances in 10 years for PNG and 9 appearances in 10 years for LCM... Simply amazing.
15. That's good stuff admin. Love seeing one of our teams go 4 deep in the post season each of the past two seasons. Only a matter of time until: Someone from 20-4A is back in Austin One of the other four teams shake things up and steal a spot from one of the big four Vidor gets it's first playoff series victory
16. With the start of the 20-4A season just two days away I think it would be neat if we could look at our district's team-by-team records over the past 5 years. It would be interesting to see how the top four teams (Ned, PNG, LCM, Vidor) over the past five years have performed against one another... For example who has the edge in Mid-county madness over the past 5 years , PNG or Ned? And who has come out on top more in the battle in Orange County, LCM or Vidor? Basically what I'm looking for is district schedules and results over the past 5 years. Think this could help our setxsportsters in their district predictions...
17. Updates and individual performances from today's games anyone?
18. Great pic of a great play. Lumberton played well and just lost to a well coached BH team, nothing to hang your head over. Heard the lefty P and the C are both just freshmen. If so Lumberton has a very good foundation of young talent and should compete well in 20-4A over the next four years.
19. Senior Vincent Armstrong gets win with 4 strong innings (1R, 2K) and Freshman Eric Foshe finished off the game with 3 solid innings in relief (0R, 7K). Big 3R HR by Junior Matt Peno that opened things up for the Pirates in the 5th. Good win for Vidor.
20. Not sure how WOS is in the conversation as a top 5 team in the area at this point... Seem to have some talent but it's hard to overlook a rough showing at the Vidor tournament (although they did beat a pretty solid Vidor team). Not worthy of a top 5 consideration at this moment IMO, but they do seem to have some talent and the season is far from over.
21. Anyone have an update on the other 20-4A schools (Lumberton, Vidor, Central, Ozen) results/performance on Tuesday?
22. Yes, Nederland/PNG/LCM always have new up and coming talent. Any specific players to watch out for though? From what I remember, Lumberton and Livingston had several players graduate and should have pretty young teams. Only players I recall graduating from Vidor was the two Hesters so they should be pretty experienced, not sure if they have any Freshman or Sophomores who will get much varsity experience.
