  1. Gary beat up on the younger brother quite a bit. Either Diboll is really, really good, or HJ is very bad. I'm thinking the latter. We'll find out about Diboll in the next scrimmage against Kirbyville.
  2. You are taking HJ and giving 7? How much is the wager? I want some of that action, please.
  3. #26 was Josh James, played lb on first team, rb on second team. Chris Barnes was #22, first team rb, second team db.
  4. Silsbee and Nederland tied 2-2 The Tigers ran multiple offensive sets which impressed me. Ran some veer, some spread and some pro set. The sophmore qb for Silsbee really has some potential to be a great one. Great speed, size and very good arm. He ran past Dravannti on several occasions. The Tigers have some quick hard running backs like they always have, but the addition of a good throwing qb with speed will be very interesting to watch. Silsbee still has great size and experience on the o-line but the backfield and recivers are young, which means they look great on some plays and bad on others till they get more seasoned. The qb and a rb are sophmores and the other rb is a junior. Still got some learning to do. The recieving core is okay, got a couple of burners, but they will be better when Donovan Harris returns. All in all, the offense looked good to be so young and with running different sets. The Tiger defense looked okay, made some good plays but also looked bad at times. Nederland ran a lot of screens in the new spread offense that Silsbee had a hard time defending. The Tigers did come up with 3 interceptions though with one of those for sure returned for a td if it were a real game. Nederland definetly had the size advantage on our defense. The Tigers are small on defense but have good speed. I think both teams came away from this scrimmage with some positives. No team dominated the other in this scrimmage. Very evenly played. I will say this, if they would have played a 4 quarter live game tonight, Nederland probably comes away with the victory, but in a close one.
  5. That's pretty funny coming from you. Didn't you corner the market on running your mouth?
  6. Best one I ever heard was: Coach " Ref, that had to be the worst call I have ever seen!!" Ref " Coach, I was about to say the same thing about that play call you just made." Coach " Ref, if I promise not to call that particular play the rest of the game, will you promise not to call that penalty the rest of the game." Ref " Agreed"
  7. In all honesty, this thread should have been stopped when the school Odessa Permian was mentioned. If this thread is about THE BEST and not the top 5 or top 10 tradition schools, then it's Permian, hands down.
  8. The scrimmage is in Silsbee at Tiger Stadium. The freshman start at 5:00, JV at 6:00, Varsity follows after that.
  9. Look Dick, if you read my post carefully, I never said that Yates was a top 5 or a honorable mention. I just mentioned that team because of the wealth of talent they had that year and if better coached they could have been worthy of a top 5 listing. You are right, it was Carvin not Carl. As for Ozen goes, they were very good that year, but not top 5 good. Maybe a top 15-20 team of all time. The 2001 Willowridge team, the LaPort team that was mentioned, SOC 2006, a FW Dunbar team, and a couple of others would round out a top ten in my book. Ozen could make top 20, but there are several teams from the 70's and 80's that I thought were better. Just my opinion, of course.
  10. It is my understanding that Harris will be back around the 4th game of the season. Progressing very well. To answer the question about what type scrimmage it will be, it will be a controlled scrimmage, no game type.
  11. When a team wins one time against a foe, you might could call it a "fluke". But when a team is undefeated against a certain foe, the word "fluke" doesn't come to mind. " Fluke" does come to mind when I think of balla.
  12. and you don't hold your ignorance in your hand either.
  13. This year, this year, next year, next year..... heard this before. Balla, you are getting so repetitive, kind of like the Silsbee wins over the mildcats.
  14. Beaumont Enterprise shows you what shotty reporting they have. In the article it stated that WOS was the only district foe to beat Kirbyville last year. I guess a 42-32 win by Silsbee in the mildcats backyard doesn't count as a win. BTW, the mildcats have never beaten Silsbee, ain't that right balla.
  15. Yes, that was a great game. Actually McGuire had 454 yards rushing and around 600 yards all purpose that night with 6 td's. Final 48-44. The funny thing about this was McGuire breaks his leg in the last regular season game against Jasper and then we face Nederland again in the first round of the playoffs. We thought we were doomed without Jay. But the Tiger coaches made some defensive changes and instead of playing zone coverage against Nederland they went man and blitzed on just about every down. Silsbee had about 10 sacks that game and won 34-7.
  16. Buy Is Mike Sanchez the best looking guy in Southeast Texas?
  17. The veer is the option offense. To quote Fred Sanford " You big dummy"
  18. Silsbee has 4 offensive and 5 defensive starters returning. I believe they have 7 all district players back.
  19. It's called a messageboard. Everyone on here is a coach, didn't you know that? There's also team owners, superstar players and hall of famers on here. Which are you? Like I said, it's a messageboard, you can "preach" your sermon, and everybody else can too. It's all just opinions.
