I'm certainly not saying that others haven't done it. But, call it what it is. Don't tell me that they didn't transfer in. I know that they did. I'll let the DEC decide if they are eligible to play. As of now, they are eligible and that's what matters. What is not "cool" is using the excuse of "well others are doing it". That is not a defense of why one does. The thing about this particular situation is that H-F gets a brand new head coach (one who has never been a HC) and also get 4 new players to transfer in.(some are saying there are more to come) That would look suspicious at any level. But, looks can be so deceiving. I can understand parents wanting to leave a bad school district for a better one (not for athletic purposes) if that would be the case. I certainly can understand why some coaches in the district would want to look into this but if paperwork and residency is all legit, then it's all good.

Heard about that. Coach has to do what he has to do. -

I guess the question is, when should an athlete make a visit if he plays 2 or more sports? You are not allowed to miss class for visits. Have to go on weekend when the schools have scheduled visits. You go when they schedule your visit. Silsbee's Dralyn Taylor missed the Hardin-Jefferson basketball game due to making a visit for football. It is what it is. -

It's pretty obvious that some of you do not understand how these visits work. -

This is Memorial's district. They will be district champs. Nederland's win last night at Barbers Hill went a long ways in the Bulldogs finishing 2nd. BH and PNG should finish in the two remaining spots. -

This was the 5th time I have seen Lumberton play this season. This was the best game that I have personally seen them play this year. Raiders played with a lot of effort, heart and desire. They also played very smart and were patient when they needed to be. Also, they utilized their skill set to the max. That's good coaching. #24 had his best game. 33 points and 16 boards, 10/12 FT. He put his team on his back tonight. IMO, clearly one of the best players in the district. Coach Mitchell is doing an excellent job and the Lumberton basketball program is showing great strides. Now, with that said, let's not forget Silsbee's side of this. I knew coming into this season that there would be a pretty significant drop off from what we have viewed over the last several years in regards to Tiger basketball. Silsbee is still a very good basketball team. A regional tournament type team. They have one of the best players in the state in Bush. Along with Martin, Cartwright and company, the Tigers still "run" this district. 6-0 thru the first half of district play. Nuff said. The combination of Silsbee coming back a bit to the rest of the field and the other teams getting better has created a very competitive district. You still might see a handful of blowouts but nothing like it was the last 4-5 years. The fact that Lumberton at home, playing their best game yet, was still 7 points shy of beating Silsbee. That says a lot about the Silsbee basketball program. Silsbee is still Silsbee. The best team in the district.

Got em all.

With the win, this takes Silsbee's (on court) district win streak to 55.
