Personally, I am happy for H. He is deserving. I just hope he is given a fair shake on proving himself and this not be a 1-2 year thing. Got to have more time than that. I also think the district could not have done wrong by hiring Toby. It would have been a good hire as well.

Bad can be a relative term. All depends on how one sees things. Personally, I have seen some bad teams this year but Warren isn't one of them.

FYI, Hickman is the lone finalist but still has to be approved by the board. Most likely will be approved but stranger things have happened. High majority of the time a school board will approve what a supt. recommends.

The hiring committee decided to go with an outside applicant instead of hiring within. Hickman wasn't the only coach on staff that applied for the Silsbee job. Offensive Co. (Mackey) also applied for the job. It was my understanding the committee thought it was best for an outside hire so they recommended Smith. IMO, both Hickman and Mackey were more than qualified to be head coaches at Silsbee. Smith has done a good job so the committee did good with the hire.

I have HJ beating Livingston by 20+ at home.

They are going thru a rough time that's for sure. Numbers are down this year but I think Coach Barnes will get things turned around starting next year.

If you are speaking of Hickman, that is not accurate. All the years he coached at Silsbee I never heard him being called that name.
