I know its a scrimmage but im notimpressiveressed with either team . I thought Silsbee would dominate but their missing something ...Ozen cplaymakershad a chance to pick off that pass kid never turned around. Plus they were too busy trying to get after Tyler that i dont think they were focused. Ozen has a decent line but dang im hoping they blow someone off the line of scrimmage big as they are. QB needs to get on the same page as his receivers. Threw them short ,behind and over. Run blocking needs to improve along with the effort. This isnt for any team in particular but kids these days play too cool, you gotta let it all hang out whatever sport you play. The body language of some these kids is horrible. Both teams got a long way to go. Sislbee a few adjustments here and there Ozen back to the drawing board with some serious evaluation.
Kind of the assestment I had ,going to take longer than 3 weeks for the coaches to get Ozen to buy in.For the most part defense done well, having to defend a short field .Offense needs a lot of work, but 2 to 3 weeks from now we should see much more progress.Silsbee need a little more work as well in order to compete with WOS .They do have playmakers have to get them the ball in open space, neither team was very impressive.

Well if Ozen is falling behind it seems as though the teachers are in the process of getting that fixed, seen multiple news stories on them spending their Summer working on just that.
I hope so ,it's not the students per say, they need more qualified teachers for all subjects. During the BISD turmoil they cut a lot of good teachers. Their are good academic students at Ozen ,my daughter happen to be one of them was one of top students at Odom, and at Ozen as well. I also have two others that graduated and are now working very well paying jobs. My point is, it is not the smart students that are lacking at Ozen it is the lack of more qualified teachers. You can get a quality education at any school ,sometimes it just take more self initiative.

Agreed ,I know this is a sports site, but something needs to be done academically first, at all bisd school's then, as Cam said student athletes will come. Teachers are at a disadvantage, because administration does not give them the things they need to be successful in their class room's.They need more income, more control of their class regarding students that want to learn and those that do not. They also need certified and competent teachers that are teaching within their degree field. If all these things are done ,the student athletes will come.Don't take this as just an Ozen thing this is a bisd thing.

I agree with that. 90% of his post was the dumbest mess I've ever read on this sports website..
Just from an administrative perspective ,they have to pay the teachers more to get good quality teachers. The facilities are fine ,and agree there will always be a long list of applicants for coaching at any one of these schools in football and basketball.

Beaumont 120,000 Silsbee 6,500. Yet Silsbee has a better for academics better football program, and stronger community.
Don't doubt or dispute academics concept ,once again it all depends on what the student gets out of it .You can send your kid to Harvard but if they haven't been raised to take full advantage of opportunites it want matter. May have a better football program as well, all depends on administration and what lead way the head coach has with his program, being able the hire his own assistants and such. And as far as a stronger community 120,000 people to 6,500 ,3 schools in 1 district compared to 1 school in entire town ,ok. I am responsible for my kid only, if I teach them about the challenges of the world regardless of what school they attend, they will be just fine.

I said nothing like that I doubt there is any without problems I just said its another on bisd.
Ok, I can understand that ,my kids attend BISD schools and I would be the first to tell you, I am not proud of many of the things that went on or that are going on now .The school systems world wide are nothing like they used to be ,we have to pray, and raise our kids at home first, otherwise all kids will be in for a rude awakeing. ijs.

Maybe there was a reason she moved on or was asked to move on.....fact is its another black eye on bisd not sisd.
ST413 I no you are not naïve enough to believe Ozen high school, or BISD for that matter are the only ones with issues. Not that I am defending them in any way ,however all schools and school districts have many problems documented, undocumented ,on camera, off camera ,teachers with students etc.. point and case is school is what you make it and how the kids are raised ,unless all the best teachers and all the smart students just go to Silsbee.
-
We can go back and forth all day about which program is better ,at the end of the day it matters not, where ever the kid wants to attend and play I hope he get his wish. As for as education goes, it does matter based on student and the teachers. It all depends on the student and how they are raised ,which in Calvin's case he was raised well. I Have kids that have attended and they have excelled at Ozen and went on to get their college degrees and are well employed. Always believed if you put God first, and work hard and believe in yourself ,what's for you is for you, doesn't matter where you go.

This game was canceled .

I agree ,he has done an exceptional job maintaining the expectations of Ozen basketball program. And it shows, you don't have to be over bearing, or over emotional to run a program. Most of the coaching is done in practice ,not necessarily during the game.He definitely deserve recognition.

Ozen play top rated teams in 5a and 6a tournaments every year, so they don't avoid playing the likes of Silsbee or any team for that matter .For anyone to make that assumption, don't know the program Ozen runs. As far as Ozen beating Silsbee I will take Ozen in a close game due to Ozen experienced guard play ,as far as next year, we will cross that bridge when it gets here. Now ,Big Sandy may start of close ,but it wouldn't end close unless you call 15-20 points close.
-
I think it is more envy than anything, everyone is caught up in their own teams ,and time and time again, this time of year who is still standing? But if someone is still picking against Ozen now ,then we got something else, possibly hate for the program, hoping Ozen lose.I have to give it to Tx.hoops he was Ozen's biggest critique, early part of the year, but his tune have changed.Others that continue picking against Ozen ,that's their view point, eventually they may get it (pick) right ,or the truth( hate) will come to revelation.JMO

Not likely but possible Upset City could happen but shouldnt happen. One injury to a key player changes the whole chemistry ask Ozen Lady Panthers. Healthy they beat Dayton by 20...Shouldve Couldve Wouldve lets play who's in front of us "first" then focus on Fort Bend County...Hope I'm in the correct forum...ijs...
JustUs is pertaining to Ozen girls team, their best player got injured in practice right b4 1st play off game ,which obviously had an impact on Ozen loosing their play-off game.Ozen boys team is full strength and ready to go.

Where I was sitting couldn't see the Nederland player. But I did see 23 talking trash on the court. That's part of the game. I could remember talking alot of players out there game when I played in the mid 90s
Don't mind the talking at all ,I agree if you can talk a player out of his game ,do it .Number 23 kept talking to Boyd after he made a 3 pointer we see how that worked out in the end .What I didn't understand was why he wasn't tecked, when the last meeting, after Ozen player duncked said something and got tecked.

I'm just ready for an Ozen fan to explain why the Ozen State Ranked Powerhouse is all out against Nederland twice?!
I don't think any explaining is necessary, Ozen has a heck of a basketball program every team will bring their A game to beat them Nederland is no exception. At the end of the day they won..

What the hell is so difficult to follow with this story? I would be happy to leave Ozen out of it. Unfortunately, some inserted themselves in it. Not me.
And couldn't agree more. It's just basketball which is why I find it sad some spend so much effort keeping a kid off the court.
But at this point, the poor dead horse is getting abused. If you haven't clued in (or been clued in) by now, probably ain't going to happen. Like I said, to this point, the only losers are the kid who can't play, and the ones who can't seem to get that dub even when he can't
Hard to follow a story, when it started of with two teams being involved in complaining of move in, but you continue to only mention one why is that?

That is a great win by Ozen ,Congratulations.

Wow ,what happened, if this had been Ozen we would be on 4th page by now.

Agreed I was 1 of the so say by a few, 100 fans that showed up.I support the school and will continue to do so win or lose.Give the coach time to build back up what some have torn down. They need a lot of work, but as you said beyond WOS everyone else will be bouncing balls by week two after the regular season is done.
