  1. Just my $ 0.02 but I would rather play with a Varsity team full of freshman than play with ONE kid that does not want to be on the floor with your team or would rather be playing for someone else.

I am not pointing fingers at any kid and I by no means want this statement to be seen as a knock on the kid, parent, or teams involved. The fact is that if they think leaving is the better choice or move for them then guess what it probably is, because the chances are if they don't leave I am not sure they would give 100% to a team if they would rather have been somewhere else. And that goes for any kid, any sport, at any school.

  2. A CATCH is the act of a fielder in getting secure possession in his hand or glove of a ball in flight and firmly holding it; providing he does not use his cap, protector, pocket or any other part of his uniform in getting possession. It is not a catch, however, if simultaneously or immediately following his contact with the ball, he collides with a player, or with a wall, or if he falls down, and as a result of such collision or falling, drops the ball. It is not a catch if a fielder touches a fly ball which then hits a member of the offensive team or an umpire and then is caught by another defensive player. If the fielder has made the catch and drops the ball while in the act of making a throw following the catch, the ball shall be adjudged to have been caught. In establishing the validity of the catch, the fielder shall hold the ball long enough to prove that he has complete control of the ball and that his release of the ball is voluntary and intentional.

  3. Rule question. Ball is thrown to 3rd baseman and tag is made on sliding runner.. Clearly out... 3rd baseman takes 2 or 3 jogs toward pitchers mound after tag and flips ball from glove ( no transfer to open hand) and ball hits ground... Your call

Happen to us (HJ) in Halletsville tourney, base ump called runner safe after ball hit ground. As a TASO ump myself I think the ump booted it as the 3rd baseman showed control of the ball, but have a remote doubt on my thoughts as the ball never went to open hand. I know that rule has changed somewhat on double play calls but did it change on fly balls and tags?

  5. Also, HJ will be running the spread/read option. No more slot-T from what I have been told.

Not what my son has been telling me, still running a slot t (type) offense with a twist. HJ lost some key players to graduation, but you must remember the entire back field is intact. We may have lost some experience at QB but he more than makes up for it with is feet, speed, and quickness, I would hate to have to figure out how to contain him.

  6. Sometimes you just can't explain baseball Aggies....

If you've played.... then the devil is in the details throughout a game.

Each player has a job to do and if ALL the players involved do their job then the team wins.

No shame in losing a game if you've faced good pitching and were outplayed, but missed assignments and poor fielding is a death blow when facing a focused pitcher like Shugart when he's on.

I agree with this, I always tell my kids baseball is the only sport that has stat for Errors because not only will they happen they, in many cases, change the game.

  7. We have already grounded you once for not playing nice dawghawk don't make us do it again....

By the way most of us can figure out who you are relatively easy...let's see player gets in trouble in football hence the Jim and Tammye Baker comment because Dubois and his wife are solid Christians...Son not getting playing time in baseball.....

    Yep not hard.

  8. Typical HJ baseball!!! ,same ole stuff. It appears some position players aren't  position players,  and players are attempting to play in positions they are  unqualified for and under "coached" . Not real sure if the coach staff has the knowledge or ability to judge players talent and evaluate where they would help the best. The continued use of freshmen players that are obviously not mature enough and lack the skills to contribute to a Varsity team. I predicate the season to be at 500 at best and injuries will be the excuse again ????

    Errors, Errors!

Hmmm 8 post most anti HJ (or things arn't going your way in HJ) seems like someone needs a nap....
