Can’t imagine the Pirates not being up for this game, but with all the subs, we’ll need a 110% out of everyone.
One common opponent, Livingston. Here you have to realize the situation at the time. They beat Livingston 35-15, but the Lions still had their stud QB. Vidor beat them 40-7 and the Lions without their QB. Even here, Vidor had 40 at the end of the 3rd Qtr, so Matthews played Subs in the fourth. Based on all that, it’s hard to get a significant handle on who might have the advantage.
I’d love to hear from @Lions Pride 2021 or anyone who might have seen both teams play, and get their take on

I think Seppy getting hurt vs HH was a hurdle they had to overcome mentally and it took that long to do so.

I didn't think about that til this morning, probably a good reason why.
Wish they’d played this game on Thursday night.

Yea it wasn’t your normal Pirate home crowd but I’m sure the wind got taken out of their sails by halftime. Their loss, missed a classic comeback and awesome post game celebration.
Opening weekend of deer season probably had some impact on crowd size.

I guess HF should handle Liberty? Is game at Liberty or HF?

Vidor -10 points fav or +10 point dog?
Said favorite. Doubt DCTF aware of all the RB injuries.

Do we have any Pirate fans on here that know anything about our freshman team? I’m hearing they have a couple of good running backs, I wonder if they would move a youngster up for the rest of the season.
I’ve heard nothing about the freshman team all year. Always JV results but nada about the 9 graders. Was beginning to wonder if there even was a freshman team.

Did HH even get called for a penalty last night? If they did it wasn't alot.
Vidor got penalized 9 times. Don’t know how many HH had called but seriously doubt it was even close.

I’m pretty sure it was #1 (if that’s Dilley) who in the 4th Qtr was almost tackled for a loss, broke lose & ran down the sidelines for a 6-8 yard gain, but we got another holding penalty. He was tackled hard. Thought the TexanLive announcer said Humberson, but I could be wrong.
I heard he was out of bounds when clobbered….no flag though

Heard anything about #1, Humberson I think? Got taken out on the sideline.
I'm pretty sure that was Dilley, 2nd team tailback, understand he is done for the year too..

Yea he made a couple of good runs against HH in the first quarter and then got hurt. Our offense never really got it going again after that, the kid does his job very well on every play. Even when he doesn’t get the ball he makes his blocks or executes his fakes. The kid they brought in to replace him got knocked out too and probably won’t play this week. We were down to third string and even had DBs carry the ball. I’m sure they will need to make some moves to fill that spot.
3 carries for 31 yards, more than likely on his way to a nice game.

Yeah, Seppy is done for the year. He broke his fibula or tibia (one of those). Sad to see his senior season end that way.
It was the fibula. It's a real shame too, he was having a great year.

Just got confirmation that point margin is used for all seeding in a three way tie for this district.
So, if HF and OF win next week the seeding will be as follows:
1. WO-S
2. HF
3. Silsbee
4. Orangefield
If OF loses to HJ and HF wins, then its Silsbee #2, HF #3, OF #4. If HF loses and OF wins, then it's OF #2, Silsbee #3, HF #4. If both lose, #2 Silsbee, #3 HF, #4 OF.
Pretty sure OF will handle HJ.

I have Ltown winning in a close one. To many Pirates down. If the ship was full, Vidor by 20, but the Pirates have to many peg legged running backs. They have heart but that’ll only take you so far.
BUT, if there’s some game mateys that come up from JV that are unbeknownst to me, the scourge of the Spanish Main may sail to victory. That said, don’t strike the colors just yet. Load the cannons and be prepared to repel boarders. Durn the Raiders and full speed ahead.
Seppy broke leg, clean break, ankle shifted. Don’t know which bone. With
Gall out also, backups/JV players will have to step up -

I have to hand it to the Falcons though, we weren’t able to push them around like we have other teams and unlike other teams they did not wear down as the game wore on. Even though we ran a ton of plays at them they hung tough, their defense always gives us problems with their ability to sell out, shoot gaps and make tackles. Plus when you break into the open field you aren’t outrunning their safeties, they keep their QB back there so it shuts down our big play capabilities.
Comparable to Jasper defense?

Going to have to raid their RBs, hate to be raiding JV but we have to be the raiders and pull out all the stops to beat the Raiders. Going from a good shot at the 1 seed and district title to the 4 seed and 1 and done would be devastating. I don’t want to see that for these boys, they experienced it already last year.
I agree, that 4 seed is a ticket to an early exit. This team, at least prior to these injuries were on the way to something better.

Hes a 2.5 star player. Will make a local schools program.
Seemed to be calm under pressure, above average arm and can run when necessary.

Wow, bad time of year for injuries, but that's football. Yeah Gall was doing good before he got hurt. Thin at RB now . Hope not to the point of raiding JV.....

HF Qb ain’t a joke. He’s an athletic player
He was the difference maker for HF, also 2 bad snaps on punts for OF led to two TDs for HF

That’s what hurts about losing #7 he’s a great runner but the coaches absolutely love the blocking he does when the ball doesn’t go to him. If he’s out for an extended period of time then that will hurt our offense and you saw some of those problems tonight with the run blocking.
missed the game and the game thread, who besides Seppy got hurt, Rodgers? Linemen?

Weird, saw someone post how Huffman was growing big. Can’t trust anyone these days.
Maybe not this time around but I think HH will go up sooner rather than later. Splendora may move up or be very close to 5AD2 using 2020 numbers as a template.

I’m surprised it’s that small. If y’all go up to 5A they’ll need to enlarge the place. Personally, I hope none of our District goes up but evidently HH is close & we all know Vidor & Ltown are.
According to the link posted on snap shot page, HH is at 1099, well under projected ceiling for 4A D1. Also looks like Lumberton's number (1215)is down from 2020. Splendora at 1235. I understand Vidor's "tentative" number is 1229. Which was the ceiling number last go around.

Dang it, I hope the Pirates win this game. A win tonight will pretty much ensure a #1 seed. The odd thing is, the way I figure Vidor will either be #1 seed, or lose both games and end up #4 seed. C’mon Pirates, git’er done.
Thought about that same scenario myself...as Captain Obvious would say, tonight's game is huge...

I can agree with that. I think Vidor has the advantage over the Raiders, but I’m not counting them out.
I wouldn't either, people should not forget that the Raiders 3 losses were by a total of 5 points
No more til about V vs L till next week. Away game with HH is next up, the most important game of the year for Vidor.
-
What I mean is that I think HH, (Vidor's opponent this week),is a stronger team than Splendora, (Lumberton's opponent this week), Vidor vs Lumberton is a toss up IMO.
