Was hoping for a CH win but knew LBJ would be a very tough out.
if no dog in the hunt I always pull for the underdog, especially if they are a 3 or 4 seed as CH was -
Chapel Hill is turning out to be a pretty good #4 seeded team.

I missed this one but two weeks ago I saw a team burn two TO’s on a missed XP. Then, needing a score was at the opponents 25 yd line with 1:40 to go. They were a running team but passed 4 times in a row. They lost. Worst clock management I’ve seen this year.
I think I know the game you're referring to....I believe the HC being out had a lot to do with that.

Yes terrible timing for sure. Still doesn't feel right but got a referral to a gastroenterologist today. Feels awful about missing the game, especially missing the seniors final game, his first absence in 30 years for workouts, practice or game. Gotta be tough on him for sure.

I am still baffled on that last possession 1st down on our own 25 with 1:47 to go an we throw 4 straight times. Lol Oh well ….it is what it is.
There's a good chance that series might have been called differently if the HC had been there.

Going to be a good one for sure, now I see why he ran off the other QB and put that kid in.
12 hours ago, Boneyard Boys said:Still flabbergasted by this one, gonna take a little while to get over what could have been. All of your best players on offense are your runners, even the QB is at his best when running the ball. You’ve got to put the ball in #1 #26 or #2 hands as a runner in the crucial moments at the end of the game. Live and die with what got you there, asking the QB to execute through the air wasn’t smart. You're putting it all on his shoulders, literally. Not one of those pass plays were even close to working, 1st down covered incomplete, 2nd down sacked, 3rd down low pass incomplete flag illegal man downfield, 4th down overthrown intercepted. None of your best players touched the ball in a meaningful way on the final series in your last drive of the season. Ah well on to next year I guess, just had to let that final complaint go unheard lol. It was a blast doing some play by play on here for you guys and following this special team this season. I only wish it could have lasted a couple more weeks.
I'm right there with you BB, this one is gonna take a while......

Thanks Hagar

It’s true they put in the work in the off-season and it paid off. I’d have loved to seen what they could have done in the playoffs with Seppy and Watson both healthy but that’s football for you. Still should have won this one and went 3 rounds deep without them. As far as next season goes… if we could only find another Jordan Smith.
He’ll be extremely hard to replace.

This game proves that coaching matters.

Out of likes but yes I agree. Coach would have made sure the kicking team was ready for the extra point tries and he would have had some input on what to do at the end of the game. Run the dang ball and we win that game in my opinion.
Yep , it’s a d**n shame for the boys and for Jeff

Thinking back all that confusion on the extra points and burned timeouts really cost us and likely caused the coaches to panic a little bit at the end of the game With no way to stop the clock, we got pass happy. Yes you read that right, the Vidor Pirates got pass happy and it cost them the game.
I truly believe thatn the HC being gone had a lot to do with all that.

Boys played hard till the end just fell short. Proud of these Pirates.
On another note I have no ideal why they didn’t keep running the ball when they had a 1st down on there own 25. There defense was tired at that point.
Agree with all.

I can't understand that! We had plenty of time for some run plays! Just dumb!
Head coach being gone doesn’t help

I believe he’s a freshman as well

Delay of game… what in the world were we doing there??? Just kick the extra point and you’re down 6
Now we kick the xp from 5 yards back
More confusion we can’t figure out how to line up for the kick and have to burn an important timeout.

19-12 CH
9:10 to go
Maybe Jeff had more to do with kicking game than we know. Only difference is he’s not there

Maybe this one will turn into a “Win one for the Gipper” type games.

I have also come to the conclusion that I have not seen Matthews on the field. That’s my first half wrap.
Jeff started feeling bad stomach wise after pep rally. He was taken by ambulance to a Quik Med type place in Crosby. Is not at the game.

He was lucky lol, he has 2 wins but I believe I recall a triple overtime game and another close matchup.
Yes the triple OT game was regular season game at home. Vidor and Crosby both won on the road in regular season and split the bi-district playoff games

MTC has been stirring it up today about L-Town, just not on this board.🤣
What is this “other board” you speak of?

From Coach Matthews: "Preseason changed a little bit. I feel like it will challenge us and prepare us for our district. Four out of the five preseason, (pre-district), opponents made the playoffs and several of them went to the second round". "Being in a six school district presented some challenges in making up the schedule. I did not want to schedule a team we may face in the second round because I did not want to give them a chance to look at us"
