Vidor will get the ball coming out of the half

need to cut down on the mistakes hurting us again

we are having no problem moving the ball but we are allowing them to stay in the game just like last week.

Sooner or later that will bite.   Vidor playing their 2nd game vs a team that is playing their 4th, may be a factor in the mistakes.

I believe Vidor turned in 1179 and I believe it will drop even more by the next realignment.

Yes, 1179 was the initial number released, but shortly after that the "official" number became 1206.  Jeff mentioned  the  1206 number in a TV interview right after realignment was announced  and it's posted on the UIL website as well.  Have no idea why the counts were different.

Haven’t seen the big play capability, missing those long breakaway runs and when we do get a nice one there’s a holding or chop block penalty. We’d better be able to score against Lee, if they are anything like last year they will put up points.

You're right, Lee is not offensively challenged.  Can't see the Pirates prevailing in a shootout with the issues we're having moving the ball and sustaining drives.

Reading the posts and thinking back, Vidor gave away another game with penalties and ill timed mistakes. We scored with less than a minute left before halftime but kickoff mistakes let them start at midfield. Then bad defensive penalties allow Ned to get to the goal line and basically give them 3 free points before halftime. The Pirates were still in control of the game, with the ball and driving late in the fourth quarter when Ned striped the ball away from our RB. Then we held them to 3rd and 9 at midfield where they completed a long pass on busted coverage to the 15. Then 2 false starts created a 1st and 20 situation which we eventually give up a first down on 3rd and 2. So many chances this year but that’s at least the 3rd game where we give points away to lose the game. Montgomery, PNG and Nederland shoulda, coulda, woulda all been W’s. You could be looking at a 1 loss team and I hate to say it because there have been some bad calls go against us but we just lack the discipline this year.

Agreed.  I don't recall the offense sputtering like it has the past 4 games since the Slot T was implemented.

I haven’t seen Vidor or Crosby this year, so I’m not going to comment on whether they are better or not than any other year. I will say that the 2012 Vidor team that beat Crosby was pretty dang good. And the 2016 Vidor team that beat Port Arthur and took a much better version of Crosby down to the wire was solid. So it’s not that controversial to say this Vidor team is worse than those Vidor teams. If Crosby is not good (and we’ll have to see about that — it’s a long season) then this Vidor team still has plenty to prove to match up with 2012 and 2016. Things look pretty good so far. Hopefully PNG will be a loss, but i’m rooting for them otherwise :). Great win, Pirates!

The team you're thinking of is the 2011 team, not the 2012 version.  It was the 2011 team that went three deep in the playoffs, losing to Angleton.  The 2012 team ran into a strong Summer Creek squad and lost in the first round.  IMO that 2011 team was the best since the '64 12-0-1 semifinalist team.

Then it ought to be a good game.  Historically, Vidor doesn’t do well against the pass.  Been about 25 years since they’ve had some defensive genius, and I don’t know the big bald headed guys name who was DC, but the had to be one of the best around.   But then, Vidor couldn’t score 48 points in a season, much less a game..

1999-2000 Eddie Hatch was the defensive coordinator you're thinking of.
