I say vidor wins, but I don’t think Santa Fe is a cake walk, aggressive team that plays hard, the qb will sling it,vidor db’s may struggle with that, but also Santa Fe will struggle with vidors style of offense.just think it could be closer than most think!!
I think so too.

I think Vidor stands a good chance of going 4-3 in District. Barber's Hill, Dayton, Baytown Lee, and Santa Fe look like winnable games for Vidor. Not guarantees, and I think Vidor still has some close games in its future. The biggest obstacle left is Nederland. If Vidor can pull of a Nederland win, we have Vidor going 5-2. But even 4-3 in district, wouldn't Vidor make the playoffs?
Based on to-date performance, I am comfortable predicting that Nederland and Crosby finish in the top 2 of the district, with the last two playoff spots being a race between PNG, BH, and Vidor.
Well, 5-3 usually got you in when our district was made up of 9 teams, so 4-3 might do the same in an 8 team district. May come down to tie-breakers for 4th spot.

This district is much tougher than last year overall, everyone is pretty closely matched it seems
Agree, , the teams that came into the district appear to be stronger than the teams that left, except for PAM.

Yeah I kept up with y'all's game and thought BH had a good chance to pull out the win, but you can't count Nederland out in a close game at the end.

OK, thanks.

Vidor you guys have an amazing team you could easily be 2-0 in district. Coach Faircloth's 75th win tonight. He had to earn it Vidor came to play. Hats off to Vidor's coachesplayes and the huge crowd you brought tonight. Drive home safely
Classy post and appreciated.

There are no guaranteed wins with the teams remaining on Vidor's schedule .. BH gave Nederland all they could handle before falling to the still undefeated Bulldogs, Dayton gave Crosby a good game early, Santa Fe is capable and Lee is much improved from previous years. Hate to be in the position of having to win out to get in, but it is what it is.

Sounds like a warrior. All that running in the offense and to have to chase on D. Extremely well conditioned. Did he play college ball?
No college ball, was committed to a two year mission for the Mormon church after high school.

Quirante was a football player but the other 2 wouldnt even make the greatest in Vidor list. Sure Culbert was fast but not a "football player".
Culbert may have been more of a track guy, but you're dead wrong about Jeff Luker. He was a beast on defense from his linebacker position, led the team in tackles for two years, Willie Ray Smith Award nominee, Super Gold linebacker, All-District and District Defensive MVP. Ask Jeff Matthews his opinion if you doubt it.

Thanks! How many quirantes were there?
Im pretty young compared to most people on here so I don’t know all the history.
Three that played football. Montana, Maverick and Bridger

Nobody repping Vidor yet..
I could make a list of some talented athletes I'd want on my team any day..but since we'll stick to the award winners and stat champs...
Jeff Luker
Rick Culbert
Montana Quirante
You beat me to it. All three good choices. Doubt you’ll ever see another player win the Willie Ray Smith award for both offense and defense like Montana did.

Class act from Vidor. Praying with our team mid field after the game and the Vidor band making a large cash donation to our band to help them get to Chicago for a once in a lifetime, invitation only performance. Class Act Vidor Pirates.
out of likes, but I like and thank you.

Yes, I knew he ran it at BC, just thought the coach that took his place when he left put in a new type of offense at HJ. If so I would think it would be like re-constructing it from scratch at HJ.

I guess ill break down the game. It will not be as long as 14.2 6 paragraph report. Well ill say this LCM in the first half held HJ to one first down and they did not get past the 50 yard line. Our defense looked good the first half. Our offense moved the ball well on HJ with 3 starters out. I thought the play calling during the entire game was horrible. If its 3rd down and over 20 yards coach please don't call a jet sweep we might as well just punt the ball just my opinion. Also questionable play calls were trying to go for a 4th and 15. But when its 4th and 1 we punt i still don't understand that. Second half LCM comes out relaxed pretty much a cake walk mentality and Dubose coached his boys up and we get caught for about 3 touchdowns. Im grateful for the win but at the end of the LCM should have blown this team out. On to BC
I guess Dubois re-instituted the Slot-T at HJ? I think they got away from it when he left for BC.

Come on now 14.2 keep it classy,i tip my hat to vidor that offense is a beast. teams like us really dont see it that often and its very hard to stop. hell i still coudnt find the ball for seconds after the snap and im in the stands. i feel bad for howard i really wanted him to put on a show tonight. the back up qb can really throw but just holds the ball. let it fly kid. glad the oline and that stable of rb's pulled it out for us.
Stable of running backs is right, those kids are good and very hard to tackle, not big but will move the pile.

I'd like to thank you and your band for this. Nothing but respect for yall! And when the teams came together at the end of the game it really hot into my feels!
out of likes, but good post and ditto. I saw no problems between the kids on the field or after the game, just sportsmanship. I think both teams knew they had been a dogfight when all was all said and done.

cougar14.2 are what's wrong with a lot of things going on today. You cannot accept the fact that little ol'Vidor gave big bad Crosby all they could handle and then some. That was an amazing game by both teams. Yes my Pirates came up short tonight and lost to a really good team. I tip my cap to Crosby...like a man! Maybe you should try being a man and not so simple minded. Pathetic is you not being able to enjoy a game between to really good teams that played their hearts out. Cougar14.2 is the definition of classless!!!

Crosby's big offensive line just wore our defensive line out. Good tuff game by 2 good teams.
Yeah, I was just about to post that. Had a weight advantage on both lines and that'll wear on you over time. Cougar running backs, #21 & #24 are super hard to get down too. Can change direction on a dime.

I guess it just depends on what poll you're looking at. Consensus top 10 anyway.

Congratulations to the Bears on earning their first win.

I heard Crosby was ranked #2 in the state in 5A D-2. Is this correct?

It's always a shame and sad when a player goes down to injury, even worse when the player is a senior. However, from what I've seen from Crosby's backup QB, all is not lost, the kid is a gamer.
