I hope they are more flexible, and reactive. Canadian killed us with their strong safety on the Jett sweep in the state game.  Neece didn't have an answer for it. A soft pass behind the safety would have neutralized that play. We'll see.

Newton is actually pretty loaded this year. They have darn good players everywhere. They just don't have the "big 3" like the past two seasons. Now, the boys that were overshadowed from the the "big 3" will finally have their chance and it will show. They have some good ones. I just hope Newton shares the ball with all the athletes and keep Coach Neece's mentality. 

I’be got a feeling several teams going against Newton will run the ole ‘Tango Offense’.

This kid is a star. His presence on the field alone makes a difference.  Just throw the football his way and he will make the adjustment to the ball. When he was on the field the other recievers mysteriously played better.  And of course his play as a receiver opened the game up substantially for the running game, which he was a part of as well.  And on defense, it's in your best interest not to throw at him. And he saved many touchdowns with his closing speed. I'm not privy to the problems he was having, but I sure hope he overcomes and it, and it doesn't effect him on the next level. Is their nobody here thats actually in the know? Or is this a big secret so Canadian doesn't know what to prepare for? In my opinion Tamazia is a 2-3 touchdown advantage. Maybe 2-5

Who cares who Newton would or wouldn't beat in other classes. That's not their job. Their job is to issue beatings to other 3A teams. It's not their fault that 98 percent of their opponents are horrible.

Newton didn't do much different than they do every week.  Several passes where dropped but you can't blame that on play calling. EB has a great defense, period. They have a boring, clock consuming grind it out offense. But very effective.  Newton has a great offense and a great defense that will normally result in a lot of points. I congratulate EB on their play and their season. Newton has another week. And I'll pretty much guarantee, they are a better team due to EB.  Even the people that are making derogatory statements about Newton's play would have never  predicted yesterdays game outcome.  My lesson learned is, Newton is human after all.

Notice a pattern...all those big plays except for the throwing of a pass came on the defensive side.  Not much you can do to limit that.  As far as where we could limit him, our defense did a pretty good job most of the night.  He made his catches but rarely made many yards afterwards.  The one big exception on that side of the ball was that last drive when he took it on himself and ran the ball at will. Sure That big pass play may have been a direct result of us seeing him with the ball and leaving those receivers open, i understand that. That is good coaches making a good play call.  
As far as the fake punt, i was sitting on the very first row, heard nothing, heck couldnt have heard anything.  The option to run never should have been there and if he had no option than i hope his teammates forgive him.  After that missed field goal it really made little difference except possibly field position.   They got no points and we got the ball back with time to score...which had to be our goal after giving them the ball back either way.
Bottom line we lost a game that we had multiple opportunities to win.  That hurts but i couldnt be more proud of this team.  Not only for their play this season but how they handled themselves from early on when things werent going well all the way until the end when they were.

Great game. Both teams left it on Theo field.  this game had it all, turnovers, interceptions, fumbles, blocked FG,  locked FG for a TD,  Fake punts, trash talk, ect.  
Its simple as this.  Silsbee didn't convert Amy of their extra point attempts.  It all started on the blocked fg and coach felt he needed to get those points back,  it it didn't happen.  
That last fumble hurt and will be hurting for a long time.  Martin's reaction on the sidelines told the story.  
These seniors will be missed, but these youngsters will make or back to this point next year, I'm sure of it.

The fake punt wasn't a fake punt.  You should have heard the convo on the sideline afterwards.
Tigers lost a close game. Played their asses of and deserved a win but it didn't happen.  It hurts but it's facts.
Congratulate the players & coaches who were playing in the Semi's instead of down playing their efforts.
