I can say Nederland has not had a very good track record with either Dayton or Crosby. I do know the twin are good athletes but are they as good as Jakobi Jones and Tre Green who had a abig offensive line in front of them last year. From what I have seen and heard Crosby o line is a little smaller then normal which may be a problem, but good technique goes along way. As for the Dayton game it will be a tough fight with the lines going at it. A good learning game for both teams.
The answer to your question is yes.

I'm telling you guys this Crosby Defense looks good. Don't be surprised if this turns into an early season low scoring slugfest.
-
Crosby's o-line probably averages 215 this year. They have some tall and lanky kids at OT and they are probably a little more athletic than year's past but I think OL is the big weak spot of this team. They aren't going to pound anyone that's for sure. The defense is going to be really athletic and may surprise some people.
So a HS spread offense =-). I'm excited about the 3 walters how bought u cap.

If crosby is running anything similar to what i've seen ss run then the lines not going to be a problem because the offense plays in space. If anyone remembers how Dayton beat Crosby last year, that's the type of offense crosby is probably running this year. Very screen/fake screen heavy, with a solid running threat from good edge blocking, or at least thats how ss beat everyone. I think the twins will thrive in this system... esp Aston who will get a chance to complete a high percentage of passes and be put in good situations to be in. AS per people who haven't seen these kids play, they are by far the best athletes Crosby has had in years. Perhaps since the 04 team (i think thats the one) Absolutely pure athletes and Austin is an all downs all purpose back, was a little small last year, those kids are rocks this yeah absolutely built. Prediction is being saved till after Friday's practice.

I love how Vidor has one good year. And every hillbilly comes out of the woodworks lol.
Saw that earlier today.. What constitutes eliteness (yeah yeah I know that's not really a word) Juan Coranco from Dayton I thought for sure would have been on there.. :-\
The last kicker i saw on one of these list had a net punting average of about 55 yards, and was near perfect with a 48 yard field goal to his name. (that was a nationwide list btw) -

Creek if the game is "a Close one" and your playing at the reservation... your going to lose... remember you gotta beat the indians by 35 to win a game at the reservation with those Beaumont Refs. -

Who Will Be The Best Team In SETX??
Cougtalk replied to jkbtjc53's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Alto And San Augustine cant hold a candle to any of the Top teams in SETX (WO-S, Westbrook, PA memorial, Nederland,) and they shouldnt be able to by all accounts but to be the best in the area you have to be able to say you can go to every teams district and compete with everyteam.
k then by your determination Westbrook is the best team is SETX because no one has the athletes to deal with westbrook is SETX. No 3/4a team could handle West Brook but that's because of sheer size. I think this is more about which team do you think will do the best in general vs there competition. -
again? what was that 1st round playoff score last year? ummm 42-20 Vidor over Crosby. and now Crosby will be under a new HC.
No remember last year we "weren't going to make the playoffs" because merka left. *rollseyes* -
I'm not from 19-4A and don't know all the teams as well as some and especially the new ones from 18-4A. So, i watched some films yesterday of some particular games of interest and based on defenseive and offensive shemes compared to like opponents, this is my opinion as of now. it is subject to change after the season begins and players not revealed come to light. 1)Dayton 2)Summer Creek 3)Kingwood Park t-4)Barbers Hill/Crosby
bud half the head coaches in the district are new.... so how are you comparing tape? and systems. Did you pull out so SS tape for Crosby because Crosby won't run the same offense they've been running. Humble has a new HC/AD, Dayton is in year 2 of there new coach. BH is what year 2/3?
-
anyone else think its wierd that Crosby plays better at BH then at Crosby?

Yike people remember this crap.... like 06 actual schedule sheesh. no clue i'll ask.
-
BH also has a tendency to eat turf when Crosby comes play. =-) just saying. Speed Kills the Hill.

It takes a special person to play there!
Montana's an extremely good kid and comes from a Mormon family. He'll do well at BYU. I don't know what we would do without the Mormon congregation; we get a lot of our athletes out of that church.
I Was referencing the suspension of BYU basketball player for the offense. If your saying he's in capable of having sex i mean that seems a little harsh don't you think? Right but getting suspended for having sex with your girlfriend is a little bit interesting.
Wrong person cougtalk lol. Nice try though. ::)
SC i respect summer creek i do but i expect them to be D1 #2 and that means they play one of the Beaumont schools or Nederland and its not a dish on summercreek but i think the dogs could handle creek. Just my honest assessment. (although who knows this is all speculative anyways. )
-
I think PNG has a big resurgence this year and i think the dogs will have a small let down. Those are my predictions. (I've never gone or ever been affiliated with PNG so just don't go there dog fans.)
-
The way I see it nothin spectacular will happen in 1 year w/the new for the Coogs.Crosby has had alot of offensive talent for years.Their demise has mostly been on defense any way.The Coogs have let to many teams hang around on the defensive side.As for the new what will be differant, just like Crosby the teams from SS have relied on the big play for years 8) ;)
All i can say is the kids have bought in. And the system should help a lot... used to we'd have either good receivers or good db's it seems now we can have both because we will play very athletic kids both ways. To be fair your statement about sulphur springs relying on the big play is a little bit off. Because they are a passing team that's fine with 5 yards screen passes. The thing your missing is no one prevents sulphur spring from having big plays and thus they get a abd wrap as requiring them to be successful and that's just not the case. Honestly Dayton relies on the big play more than Sulphur springs did because Dayton this past year needed to score more than they ever had needed the scoring before.
-
not sure i just know i heard that statement from someone i trust on the subject. I know it was the 2008 semi final game (right) and another one in 2006 but i think 2006 wasn't a playoff game so I'm not sure.
-
Honestly i See all 4 games being really tough in round 1 this year but i think Dayton as always will make it out and one of the other 3 teams will make it out. I'm feeling good about Crosby but the district is really talented and i could see a team like Humble potentially having a good season just because of the talent in that area.
