I’m not in touch with the program much anymore, but I didn’t do a lot of cheering.

Everybody knows that BC athletes are far superior to those that OF produces in every way, but we also play in a much tougher district. I don’t expect Smallley to have any better results in BC than he did at OF. Who knows? We might even finish as a four seed sometimes.

I mean… if your district is populated by Silsbee, Jasper, HF, and WOS (the old WOS, anyways) you’d want to hire somebody capable of elevating the program to point where you’d be competitive, right?

    Or not.

Spoken like a true typical BC resident.

    So Annoying

LOL, cites "LH (without top 2 RBs) losing in State Semi-Finals as evidence of offense not working. Ignores that LH is the top scoring offense in 5A, ignores that Franklin won back-to-back State Championships and set the all-time record for points in a season.

Does not cite the hundreds/thousands of teams running the spread that did not make it to the State Semifinals or in some cases did not win a single game.

Does not really know the size of other teams OL. Believes spread offense is better suited for "small OL".

Hey @89Falcon. How’s that Strictly Wing T working out for LH now???

should have worked on the passing games throughout the year.

    facts son.

  3. A). No one on here has made any arguments about Fans wanting him to leave. Every year ever school have some people wanting their AD to leave. Orangefield isn’t any different. I would say more than 75% still believe in what he’s doing. Everytime BC changes AD this rumor comes up & BC changes AD about every other year depending on which parent has the influence to put their kid as a certain position or if the AD has a snow cone business. Who in their right minds would want to go to BC especially if you have to wear red. (Joke).

    B)  Bigger OL comment. Have you looked at Franklins/Belleville/LH offensive line stat? I saw multiple  kids on there over 6-1 plus.
Who in their right mind don’t think you need size period. 🙄

    C). 1 Dimensional Offense Comment.
If you think a 1 dimensional offense is the way to go then I’m not wasting data debating you. LH was completely demoralized & demolished by PNG last year. Sure they scored on the first few plays in the game but when PNG adjusted LH couldn’t get a first down after that.
I heard a stat that LH had 8 passing attempts the entire year. They then threw the ball down by 28 in the fourth. Guess what. INT!  I think they had 2 INT with 3 attempts.

Your right, I’m pretty sure Franklin OL averages 5’-6” 150 lbs  I was watching the WOS/Beeville game. Beeville has some pretty big kids on the OL  #99 was murdering kids straight up

my point is you need to be able to throw the ball when the run isn’t working. Not preparing for that is my issue. How in the heck do you blow teams out of the water during the season by 30+ points & you never ever practice during the game for game type situation in Passing. That’s absolutely inexcusable.

im definitely not advocating for Orangefield to run 5 wide the entire time. What I am asking about is when Orangefield (LH/Franklin) was up on Buna (an opponent) why not throw the Dang Ball?????  So that the kids can have some game time experience throwing and catching in a GAME. Everyone looks like Randy Moss & Joe Montana vs the scout team.

if you believe sticking with what works only & not having a viable option for when it doesn’t work then I agree to disagree.

if you don’t think that’s a sensible offensive scheme then your right & every college & pro team is wrong. Dallas & the Chief needs someone like you on their coaching staff. This is a good Good Time to say Good Grief!

    over and out.

    embarrassing.

    In 2,000% agree.

how was that 1 dimensional offense last night working for them.

even though OF Is the bigger school in the district they don’t have the size on the OL to continue this Slot T mafia Offense.

when they do pass the OL is still in the 4 point stance….  Zero pass blocking abilities for the OL. They are beaten off the snap of the ball.

we shall see what happens with all these rumors.

Smalley great guy and coach and has done a great job at OF.

Why so negative on Prouse? Your kids play for him?

Based on the last 10 years, 1 dimensional offense have zero success in football. You may win enough games to place top 4 in district but not in playoffs.

I won’t support one & done. Orangefield needs more than that.

Yes, unless expectations have gotten out of hand in Orangefield I don't see any reason to leave.

Would hate to see him leave, He's been a good role model to my kids.  He does practice his convictions on the sidelines.

What exceptions are you talking about? To be top 4 in a 6 team district.

Peevey - Not leaving LCM/  He's got a stable base of athletes coming in and up.

Prouse would be a DEFINITELY NO in my book.

    Yes

It’s the head to head games between the 3 teams and not total district games??

    so
    Kirbyville has 6 points

    EC has 36 points

    Orangefield has O

so Orangefield can’t give up 6 points in two game & must win one of the two

if they lose to KV then they have to lose by less than 6?????

Well when u run off the best thing that ever happened to the program.and u hire a supt that football isn't his first choice or know the history.and everyone that controls every high position isn't from orange.it is what it is. But, the most hurtful part is the man that built the programs has to sit on the visitor side of games.its heart breaking.

Where are all them Anti-“Old AD” now.

this is on “Them”!  Hope they are happy Now.

Anyway. Whatever I don’t even know I’m on this thread.

WOS still has a chance to beat Jasper… they definitely beat BC and HJ… they will be in the playoffs

Never in MY life did I EVER think any thread on this forum would be debating whether WOS would be 3rd or 4th in district much less a possibility of WOS not even making the playoff.

How in the world is the School board (which has former WOS Athletic alumni) letting this happen.

    I’m sad & disappointed.

Really wasn’t what Orangefield did to make it rough. More about how the Horns shot them selves in the foot multiple times. Fumbled kickoff turns into a touchdown. Pick 6 thrown right to a kid within about 6 mins of each other. Hard to keep pace with anybody with those kind of mistakes.

On top of that we have got some of the worst officials I’ve ever seen this season. Last week inadvertent whistle causes a td to come back and turns into points for Hardin. This week, orangefield constantly playing after the whistle, one play particular, apparently a false start was called, no whistle blown though, then orangefield kid has such an egregious late hit that his coach pulls him and screams at him. The officials decide not to call it because the Horns had a false start so play was dead, yet no whistle until after the player is tackled…. No call PI in the end zone while receiver is getting wrapped up before his arms can even try to catch the ball.

Not that we didn’t have our issues. We probably lose either way but y’all make it sound like we got manhandled and that was not the case.

You’re absolutely right. Game Officials are getting worse & worse each game & even through the seasons.

im sure all the good ones are leaving because they are tired of the abuse they are getting from little league to HS.

there’s a lot to say but ultimately I blame these terrible calls to inexperienced referees. Hold tight because it’s only about to get worst. No one wants to throw a flag to get yelled & screamed at from the sidelines & stands.

This area is finally feeling the results of the national referee shortage.

Good win Bobcats the combination of #2 & #3 speed & #22 bulldozing was too much to handle.

still no threat from the air though.

Yeah yeah ok , Very vanilla game plan for Hardin saved the play book for Orangefield but came up short in 4th quarter . We lead Orangefield the whole game until about 5 minutes left of game . We got away from what was working the whole game in Orangefield  at the it mattered most

I would hope that they get #5 involved in the WHOLE game. If that’s the case, I would say AP will be hard to stop. Any pass to him inside the 20 is an automatic TD. That would open it up for #24 RB & QB to run more.

  12. 9 hours ago, APanthers said:

They are well coached team . They found weak a link in defense and exploited it . But the refs bailed them out I know on 3 different calls

It was a sloppy game all around on both sides.
I don’t understand why #5 didn’t get the ball much. Each time he got it it was dangerous for the Bobcats. One TD he literally carried 3 Bobcats into the endzone & broke about 3 tackles.

i have to agree that the line Judge on Orangefield side called 2 terrible “Targeting” penalties on each team. No way was those two targeting. It was helmet to helmet but both weren’t with the Crown of the helmet.  But they may have changed the rules.

There were lots of mouthing on both sides.

good win & I’ll be interested in seeing AP and O play Kirbyville. It could be a 3 way tie.

Lol I’m not complaining about the slot t in general I love it and Coach Rowe  lol All I’m saying is there will be a game rather in the playoffs or in the regular season where it may not hurt to have your QB prepared to throw the ball

    What he said.

If your talking about being disrespectful cause of scoring too many points then what’s the difference between beating a team by 40 if you scored more running TD vs Passing TD. By your thoughts if you are ahead you should knee the ball as to not offend the other team.

  14. 20 hours ago, Cat22 said:

I’ve never had an issue with Orangefield running the Slot T. I think it fits OF’s personnel  the best and this game proves my point. I would say OF and Buna have similar athletes but OF runs the Slot T and Buna runs the spread. Look how the game turned out! Like AAW said, Orangefield did dominate the line on both sides of the ball. As in this game if you don’t have to throw the ball why throw it. I think you will see OF open it up a little more in the future with the arm talent of the Freshman QB.

I agree with the assessment, i think the lumps Orangefield took at the beginning of the season paid off.  The OL did improve and won the battle against an equally sized opponent.

However, as you stated, "As in this game if you don’t have to throw the ball why throw it", i believe this was the perfect opportunity wasted by not throwing the ball in the first half.  It's been my problem with this mindset since i've been here.  You should practice the Passing game when you are up in the game, not when you are down by 21 points with 5 minutes left in the game.

This just Orangefield, I saw the Liberty Hill game vs PNG.  LH had 9 passing attempts the entire year (I almost fell out when I heard that) and they didn't start passing until the last 5 mins of the game and had 2 Picks in the first 3 passes.  Shame on them for not throwing the ball during the season to get that game time experience.
