It's been 3 years and 3 games. I still think the jury is out. What if the Stangs win out and win district and make a deep run? I am willing to give him this season before making any kind of comment on right or wrong. But I am not as invested as Mustang fans so I completely understand the criticism. Particularly the hiring process.

That school they played isn't like they were playing Bryant, Greenwood, Shiloh Christian or even Little Rock Parkview of previous seasons. Southwest would probably have issues with Newton, they are bad.

Silsbee wanted to go outside for the hire. Both Silsbee OC (Mackey) and DC (Hickman) put in for the HC. Silsbee didn't want to hire one and not the other. I think they made the best hire.

The statement was they hired a Dline coach with no head coach experience and no one should expect that to work. I stated that Silsbee hired an Oline coach with no head coach experience and it is working out just fine. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't but Silsbee is one of the situations that disproves that it never works.

Game 1 we scored 20, game 2 we scored 17, game 3 we scored 14. If we can keep it up we should score 11 points next week? Like I said three years ago when we hired him, his offensive system doesn’t fit the personnel the Crosby community currently produces. Some people needed to see us lose all these games because we can’t score anymore before they can finally admit they didn’t know what they were talking about. Good dude and really looks out for the players but any games Crosby is winning now are in spite of Willis, not because of him. We’ve been at a disadvantage on the sideline for three consecutive weeks. Now the losses are becoming part of the culture. The casual fans aren’t attending anymore, nobody donates to the fundraisers, there’s no anticipation of a big win Friday nights, etc. This hire has gone pretty much as bad as it possible could. I heard a rumor that this was his last year but rumor or not if Crosby misses the playoffs for the 2nd time in three years I think he’s done/reassigned anyway. Either way, you’re looking at another sub .500 season in year three and with a loss to Friendswood potentially a regression to 4-7.

Coach Smith has proven his worth with 2 wins against CT in 18 and 19 region finals. And 2 wins against the new staff in regular season.
