  1. Past hour
  2. Yes it’s early and time will tell. That’s my initial observation , because I don’t think Prescott will make the entire season without getting injured and even though they are playing players trying to make the team, the defense was not good
  3. Who’s Yankee Daddy? Lol
  4. Today
  5. VYPE's choices lean toward the SETX area as it should be I guess, nothing new for Lufkin, we deal with it all the time. It sort of adds incentive to the plate. Think the Panthers were picked 4th last year too and to be fair the Panthers have some substantial holes to fill this season. Anyway, you have to play the games and we will see in November how things turnout. Still think PAM has the edge to win the district with a talented senior laden team. They have been talking about that group for two years now. VYPE likes the McNeese commit QB transfer from 3A Anahuac to Barbers Hill, except I noticed Anahuac did not make the playoffs the past two seasons. BH has plenty of talent though from last year to make a lot of noise in district. Abseck left a good group there. West Brook is the team I think will surprise the most, watchout for those guys. Ball might be rated too high, Woodbury is good but the supporting cast might not be enough, even with a new coach. Lufkin has half the team back that went 10-2, and many new players have come out that previously did not want to play for the previous coaching group, plus 3 or 4 transfers in the offseason from Grand Oaks, Abilene and Jasper. It all starts in 19 days, so let's see where this ends up in November. There's going to be some very good district games.
  6. Even if they won, that would be his post.
  7. That was the only call I questioned in the Regional Finals last year. The toss vs. a sneak. May have cost them a trip to the State Semis. The staff played to win all year (vs. not to lose), so I appreciated that aspect. But, when on the 1 yard line, trying to ice the game, a long toss type play seemed a little strange with the speed of Angleton's D. But, the staff knows more about the matchups they were facing than I do. They made the call they thought would work best. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. I still have great faith in the LP staff. They've done an outstanding job bringing the program back in a very short time, and I think it's only going to continue to improve. Coach Berneathy and staff have gone 5-5, 8-3, and 10-4. Improve by 2 more games again this year & they're at the Promised Land. I'm ready for this season, and this rivalry to start. Seems like it's been a long off-season. Probably the anticipation of the new stadium & some true home games again.
  8. One thing I was thinking on last night was an EO. Most of this money is actually funded via data from the census directly from a specific government department. It would only be a temporary fix if an EO was used to modify funding, but I don't see why one couldn't be used. Seems a liberal San Fran judge blocked this Administration from stopping some funding earlier this year. But, that was because it had already been allocated. (That, and just being anti-Administration policies of course.) If an EO was used--early enough--that said funding would only be tabulated based on 'permanent, legal residents calculated by such & such numbers', I'm not sure it wouldn't work. It would be challenged. But, I know of no legal reason it may not be upheld if appealed. May need to research more...
  9. Seattle has won 6 in a row. Astro lead down to 1/2 a game.
  10. Precisely. It's a freaking glorified scrimmage. Anyone predicting season results off the first preseason game is delirious.
  11. Cowboys went 0-4 in 1977 pre-season and won the SB in Tony Dorsett’s rookie season against the Denver Broncos 27-10. None of those players were starters yesterday. Landry, on the other hand, played his starters 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and a full game for the pre-season. Now, they ride bicycles or walk the sidelines padless. Landry cared nothing about winning pre-season games because he knew he had to cut players. I did, however, like Grier over Milton, even though Milton had to scramble 90% of the time. Jaguars kicker made a 70 yard FG, but being pre-season, it’s not recognized as an NFL record. Nothing counts. Go Cowboys.
  12. Exactly. A majority in the Senate requires 60 votes to end the filibuster and allow a bill to come up for a vote. It only takes 51 votes to win an issue but 60 to allow the vote. In the House where there is no filibuster and limited time to debate, a one vote majority is actually a majority because the opposition can’t stop a vote. In the Senate the Republicans (or Democrats) could have a huge 59 - 41 advantage and yet can’t pass a bill without support from the opposition. In the House if one party has 218 representatives, leaving the other party with 217, they have an effective majority of in order to allow a vote. In the Senate an effective majority is 60 in order to allow a vote. So when I see comments on, “why don’t we just pass a law”, the answer is that they can’t without at least some bipartisan support from the opposition. They don’t have the required 60 vote majority.
  13. My observations on the 1st preseason game defense - absolutely zero pass rush and not much better vs the run DL and Secondary looked like they need a lot of work. Couldn’t tell how the LB’ers performed offense - not much of a run game OL didn’t look very good QB - since we know that Prescott gets injured every season, the Cowboys are going to be in trouble this season If Milton is the backup, things look dim. His performance was not good at all After watching this game I am predicting anywhere from 0-17 to 5-12 and a possibility of being last in the east Way to go Jerry
  14. That would make me want to talk! LOL!
  15. [Hidden Content] Here's their prediction.
  16. Yesterday
  17. Not exactly. I'll try to gather them up for you and get them to you. We have one of our mods here that is putting together the schedules.
  18. IMHO, Trump’s tariffs are hurting some and helping others. Typical. Overall, needs more time for tariffs to work through the system. Setting the final tariffs (basically the high end for most anyway) should be a big help for business. Now, they can plan. They just need lower borrowing rates until they can get their supply chains worked out where everything isn’t passed to the consumer. I’d say—from my perspective as an economic data watcher & investor—the economy is ‘okay’, but could really take off with a benchmark rate of around 3.5. I picked up some select buys for the long term this last business week. NLR is a nuclear ETF that also includes Constellation. Wanted to buy earlier, but didn’t pull the trigger as I got busy doing other things. But, I expect it to be a solid growth/divvie option. It’s gone up over $33 in 3 months with a lot of room to run. I wouldn’t be buying if I didn’t feel decent for long term. I’m a retired investor. Not a trader. Mainly a dividend investor at this stage with some select emphasis on growth. I buy solid companies at a decent price & hold them. To me, if they’re good enough to buy, they’re good enough to hold. I do the same with my REIT’s and ETF’s.
  19. Thanks for agreeing?
  20. Right now, we need to circulate a little more cash. Benchmark 30 year notes are running at ~4.85%, and have hit 5% in the last 2 weeks. Not good news. The job market is slowing. Inflation is running about 2.8% with the benchmark a full 200 basis points higher. Too big a gap. I’m afraid the Fed is a little behind the 8 ball. Employers need lower rates to be able to offset some tariff costs while refinancing debt, and still be able to keep/hire. IMHO, the Fed should lower rates by 50 basis points in September. The gap between inflation and benchmark needs to come down.
  21. House Rules of Procedure: Rule 5, Chapter A, Section 3 (Starts on Page 89) [Hidden Content] Sorry. Took some investigative digging. I still don’t really see a penalty for non-payment other than forfeiture of funds and payment of other fees before receiving any new funding/pay—which is nowhere near the fine amount that could be accrued.
  22. Well it was an almost. Tied it 4-4 in 8th and left bases loaded King gives up homer in ninth and lose 5-4. Framber wasn't Framber today. Raleigh of Mariners 43 rd HR last night
  23. This is what all of Europe should look like!
  24. I think they’re working towards that. Issue is, their key states (Illinois, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Wisconsin, and even Nevada) are already gerrymandered to the Democratic side so much, they can’t get many more—if any—seats out of them. From data I’ve read, Dems seem to gerrymander ‘bigger’, and Reps gerrymander more states but “smaller”—if that makes sense. Ought to be illegal for both. But, I don’t see any way to stop it. Incumbents will want to keep their seats. Just like the reason for no term limits. It does make a joke of representative democracy. But, we really haven’t had that in a very long time anyway. One way might be for a viable minor Party to really make inroads because of public dissatisfaction with the two major Parties. Harder to gerrymander for three. But, that’s a real long shot.
  25. That's the problem for the Dems. They already have. There's not much for them to do. For example: Massachusetts has "zero" Republican Reps. Although Trump got 36% of the vote in Massachusetts. They can't do anymore. Now, the others may be able to do a little. But the Red States have more of an upside because we are learning to play the game. In the end, it's not going to look good for the Dems. Taking away the illegals being counted in the census is gonna be the real killer!
  26. Do you have a list of area Thursday games?? I want to make sure the app is updated if I can
