Here’s an opinion piece. Iran’s only threat was closing the Straits of Hormuz (minus the nuke factor). It was their ace up the sleeve. Iran thought they could partition off the strait and selectively allow ships to pass they deemed acceptable, or even board them with their Ranger boat navy. Well, Trump showed them what a total blockage would do. Iran’s attempt to hold the world hostage (which is what they excel at anyway) was countered with a total blockade. After Trump’s stranglehold has proven effective and brought them to their knees and the treaty table, it’s time to get the deal done.
