Perhaps but I believe HJ will advance further in the post-season than WOS.

HJ plays that easy schedule to get to 18-1 is whag your saying? Great win WOS!
Yeah that easy schedule has really backfired on HJ - they can't ever seem to reach regionals in Huntsville or state in Austin - oh wait.......

Kind of like WOS in football since they joined the 3A ranks.

44-43 WOS :32
I'm upset. I said WO-S by 10 points. Actually, it will serve HJ better later on in district.....the loss
Yes it will.  HJ should bounce back in the re-match with WOS.

WO played very well down the stretch and I dont believe they missed a free throw in the fourth quarter.  HJ was behind most of the game and had finally taken a two point lead when one of their players ( who shall remain anonymous) stole the ball and had an uncontested layup.  For some unknown reason, he tried to dunk the ball ( not Bosha) and it rattled twice but didnt go down.  WOS got the rebound and scored.  Big change in momentum at that point.  I cant remember an HJ team ever shooting this poorly for an entire game but that happens sometimes.  WOS took pretty good care of the ball the entire game and had a definite rebound advantage.  It didnt help that the HJ post played less than half the game due to foul trouble.  It wont take  more than a couple of weeks to  to decide whether or not tonight was an anomaly.

Not the exact particulars but sounds similar to the ending of the HJ/La Vega regional semi-final last year.

Yeah but how much post-season success has WOS had in football compared to HJ in basketball?

That's the beauty of high school basketball, even the good clubs are subject to poor shooting at times.I know this may sound like blasphemy but even Yates ( GASP) could have an off night shooting the ball. Just in case no one has noticed WOS who has always had a stable full of horses has a very good young coach running the show these days.

Here are some stats that are worse than even I thought for HJ

33% from free throw line
28% from the field
10% from three point range

The majority of those shots were NOT heavily contested
Ouch that is rough. some nights teams just go ice cold sometimes it happens. HJ will bounce and be just fine

Bottom line is schedules, doesnt mean hj isnt better or want go farther, but the difference tonight was sos
Sorry, but when you shoot a percentage like that, you are going to lose most of the time and it doesnt matter what schedule was or was not played by you or the opponent.  If your theory is correct, WOS will also win when they play at HJ and HJ is going to lose a number of district games.

Not sure where the "Hype" was that you were talking about.  And I don't think anyone predicted a blow out.  Just be glad you picked up a 2 point victory at home against a team who shot 33% from the FT line, 28% from the field and 10% from beyond the 3 point line.  I give credit to WOS to banging the glass, and keeping HJ from many 2nd chance points.  But I promise that HJ will not shoot that poorly again.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
