The talent he had was just coming in its own. That talent pool ended last year where we were one and done and I believe with that team last year we should have been at least three deep. I knew this team did not have the talent pool as well as most people in PNG, so I was not expecting much. But, I am sorry our defense has been bad for the last 4 years. I contribute it to poor training of the basics. It is evident on the field. The kids are talented enough to get to a kid in the back field they should wrap up and bring him down or hold on at least and get help. That has not happened. It is what it is. The Nederland game last week gave me hope because I saw that kind of tackling, but maybe it was just Midcounty madness. I am not pushing Burnett or have I ever mentioned him. I am talking about the current set of coaches. Gonna happen again this year. SC and Dayton will be playing Ned and Vidor in round 1 in some fashion. He had a good run as Head Coach but it was time for a change. I also agree the tackling is horrible and they need to go back to basics. That one arm crap has got to go. Wrap him up and take em down. He likes to make High School practice look like it's college or the pros. These kids are still trying to learn how to tackle. You must hit in practice! Offense is fancy and all but you must be able to play defense. Faircloth has proven nothing! PNG will never again have as much talent as they had his first year. The first 2 years he was loaded with talent. You cant win without a defense. Anyone that has coached or know these kids know that a power running game would benefit this group more than anything else. They do not have the skill player's to run this offense. Good coaches have to adjust to his talent just ask Larry Neumann. Faircloth bases everything on speed, there is some really good football player's on the bench but their not as fast as others but they will knock the piss out of you! Faircloth is more of a political guy than he is a coach. H e says what the parents and board members wants to hear. His defensive scheme is horrible! Kenell from the eighth grade has potential to play on varsity next year, although I don't know if he will, because he is one of those once in along time players that goes thru a program. If you havent seen our underclassmen then you cant really make a statement about 'em Mike. You need to come out and watch the Fish and JV. You WILL be impressed. However, it was odd knowing how well PNG typically supports their team, start leaving when the lights came on. It was a steady flow of purple and white leaving the stands. But EVERY team has some obnoxious folks that say stupid things. People like to brag because of all the records, and the fact that we travel well, but the reality is, no one wants to sit in lousy weather and watch their beloved team get taken to the woodshed.As much as I love PNG football, this entire year has been difficult to watch, and I don't fault folks for not coming, or leaving early. But let's face it, people love to find anything they can to dog PNG for, and that's only because we have a history of coming out on top most of the time. That's fine.
