Any chance you can post the amount of kids in the last 3 camps you have advertised who have actually "signed" a scholarship or recieved an invited walk on roster spot? Id think it would be important to you guys to know the numbers of kids attending to kids getting offers-committing.

Also, do you spend time "teaching" or is it just a "pro-format" workout?

Looks like a good group of programs attending, good job!

These camps are a waste of parents money. If you are a good player, you will be found. Send an email to every college coach in the country, let them know you are interested in playing for their institution. Give the college coach your HIGH SCHOOL coach's name as a reference. These camps are all about money. 100 kids at $150 equals $15,000 in the pocket. At the camps, you run a 60, get 5 or 6 fungos, and a few swings in the cage. Pitchers throw 15 pitches in the bullpen and catchers throw 4 or 5 balls to 2nd and 3rd base. You can do what you want but charging what they do is outrageous. If they did this for $20 Id say its a good deal. Just my .02

Would you pay $10 to work out in front of 1 college coach?  If so, then $150 to work out in front of 15 college coaches and 3 MLB scouts is worth it to you.  But everyone is allowed to an opinion.

DaBears stated--- “If you are a good player then you will be found.” I do not agree with this.

Please let me tell you about a story of 2 players that Mountain View Junior College signed……  one player batted .550 with 12 HR in 4A, catcher with a 1.9 pop, and bats left handed.  Another is a RHP/1B that was 1st team all district in 3a all 4 years of high school.  He is consistently 88mph and is 6’4, 230lbs.

Mountain View College is a D3 junior college and both above players did not receive any athletic scholarship.  But with these stats and being a good player they should have been found right?

If both these players would have come to one of our workouts like the one on the 14th, then they would have received a scholarship and been found.

To GTBbaseball:
We are currently working on launching a website and gathering information to answer questions exactly like yours.  Some camps have a huge amount of talent and some camps have a minimum amount of talent.  An average showcase we will have 70 players and about half are seniors.  This summer, off the top of my head, we have had about 25 seniors commit to college.

The workout is a pro-format style.  All players will be evaluated by a college coach and have a 5 min sit down with that college coach to discuss their performance of the day.

I hope this answers your question.

We are just trying to create a good product.

Whats the point of his "story" again?
If the 2 boys DID attend "Mount Lets us View your Money College", and did NOT attend the camp, then whats the point of the camp or his story?
Was there a typo or did we miss something?
... Go over to Lamar University, at least they only charge $75per player

Why is everyone giving this guy a hard time? He is putting kids in front of scouts, not an easy thing to do.

Agree 100%.  Why are people so quick to shoot holes in a guy trying to help out local kids?  Might the costs paid help defray the costs of bringing all these scouts in?  In case you haven't heard, the State of Texas, along with many other states, are cutting the budgets of most universities.  Which directly impacts athletic budgets.  So to get a gathering of all these scouts, maybe he has to offer to pay some of their expenses?  The "what's in it for him" is that by gathering all these scouts, maybe he can get a full combine, so he can scout players for his college.

Funny how so many people are quick to take credit for a kids success on this board.  But criticize those who legitimately give a kid opportunities.  DaBears-if people listened to you, no one would get recruited.  Just send out e-mails and wait for them to come to your high school game? (perhaps a high school coach?)  Insane.  To get recruited today, not only do you have to have talent, you have to be seen.  Being seen today, means being in the right place at the right time.  Unless you have a kid on your high school team throwing low 90's or an athlete who is a legit 5 tool player, or be playing against one of these types of players, you won't get seen just by playing high school ball.  Of the 2011 class who signed on to play college ball, very few did it by just playing high school ball.  They were seen with their select team playing in a summer tournament, they were seen at a college prospect camp, they were seen at one of these combines, they were seen at one of the Monday night games that Fackler runs, and they were seen at a Perfect Game, or simlar camp.  In order to be seen, you need to attend these combines, you need to go to as many college prospect camps as possible, you need to get on a summer team that travels to college venues, or close to college venues.  All of which, cost money.  As a parent, you have to determine if the benefit out weighs the cost.

There isn't one magic bullet to being seen, then ultimately getting a scholarship.  It is a long and arduous process that involves a little luck and a lot of hard work.  Coach Harrington is simply giving kids another option to "being seen".  Is that so bad?

We had a great turnout for the showcase on Sunday.  Thank you to all that attended.

Eagle fan 05- We had 15 pitchers that threw above 80mph. Our top velocity was 88mph from a 2013 grad.  We also had two 2014 grads that threw 85mph.

bmtball- Thank you for your post.  It was a great one.

Our next showcase will be mid to late November.  When the date and location is set, I will be sending out information.
