The ole switch arue

Recommended Posts

A player gets fouled(not a good free throw shooter) and another goes to the line and shoots the free throw. Works best when everybody goes to the opposite end to shoot the free throw. Usually no one notices... Happens a lot........Right or Wrong?.....Ethical or not?.....

I'm a player and it happened to me and my team this year
in a close game vs "sumbody". We lost the game bcuz of it
but life goes on and it was only a scrimmage. HOWEVER when
I ran to the ref to tell him he ignored me and said he was right
I was wrong, pathetic how each of those refs handled it. It's not
right! But if the refs are dumb enuff to be stubborn and not notice
...what can u do? Nothing is the answer

Nothing is unethical if the official doesn't catch it  ;) ;)I personally know the master of the technique and a real good free throw shooter  ;D ;D

Actually saw this happen this year at a AAU game,  MoCity called a timeout prior to the freethrows.  A different better FT shooter got on the line.  The refs caught it right away. The players were cracking up.  Good job by the Ref, of course the crowd recognized it as well and the opposing team.

My guess is the ref knew he had made a mistake.  However, they tend to operate by the theory that if they admit a mistake, it will damage their credibility for the rest of the game/season.  The theory also includes maintaining the appearance that they are always in charge and should not be questioned.  I understand why they do this on the one hand, but I think it actually lessens their credibility to "fake it" in that manner.
