They called him Arrowhead , cause of the arrow he had shaved into his hair.  Man, that's a long long time ago!!  I could have sworn he had time with the Chiefs also, but I guess I'm mistaken.

ANother local who went Pro was the guy who owned Homeys BBQ and Homestyle Cooking in Port Arthur a while back. He was the nicest guy you could meet.  I wanna say his first name is Paul but forgot his last name though.  HE did play for KC...he was telling me and my son about it when we used to eat at his place. He made the BEST smothered pork chops in the world!!  He was like 6-6 300lbs+ ..a gentle giant.  He lived on the same street we did back about 12 years ago.  http://www.discoverourtown.com/TX/PortArthur/Dining/40340.html

FOOTBALL IN SETX is better than South Texas (at the Hogh school) Level for smaller schools...I am not sure about 4A and 5A programs.  I Know the Corpus Area is HUGE, but the TALK here in SETX is bigger than the talk in COrpus...( I am speaking only of 5 years of experience in Corpus, but my 2 here has shown me so much in so short a time).

Currently...  Anthony Collins.  Played DE for the '03 Central Football team.  All State honors.  First year playing football at any level.

Got all conference honors at Kansas as an OL.  Now playing for the Bengals.

Leeland (Cardinals) and Reggie Mcelroy (Jets)  From Central and BCP

BTW--I believe Jerry Levias broke the " Black players Barrier" into the Southwest conference at SMU----My oldest brother was in the Army reserves with him and said he was an outstanding guy.  Pretty good in Boot Camp also.   ;)

Modified---Levias was three times all SWC and All American as a senior.  i'd say thats was a good way to break the barrier.

Modified again---This makes me the first "whitie"  to recognize the first Black SWC and All American from SETX.  I love you Beaumont!!!
So where's the Karma----LOL

I can't type no mo, this list is at least 5 years old, so this is a taste of the lack of talent from South East Texas. Dont get me started on the other sports and musical talent! ;D

That was Paul Washington. Not sure if he was actually from here but his kids went to school at TJ.
