EC's Jose Martinez is perfect on XPT's this year. Perfect even through winds, driving rains and waterlogged footballs. Tried one FG from about 38 yards, plenty of leg, just missed left. His two XPT's vs. Anahuac helped give EC the (pending) District Championship.  ;D

Billy Joe Schumacher is very unique, in that he is an ambidextrous kicker - he can kick with either his right, or left foot. His longest field goal of the season is 72 yards, which he kicked with his right foot. His longest with his left foot was 47 yards. He determines which foot to kick with based on the weak side of the defense, and the hash mark that the ball is lined up on.

the 72 was in a scrimmage and im not sure about that...I did hear that that Waguespack guy that kicked for PNG around 1990 that was all american hit some 67 yarders in pregames all the time...so..i guess it would be possible...but Billy Joe is the real deal... my uncle said the Dallas Cowboys are courtin him hard , but they are worried about what the press would do about them pullin a kid outta high school. Could be negative publicity.

I would have to say Trahan from Nederland. I watched this kid kick 3- 59 yarders in warm-ups before the PN-G game. I mean this kid has a leg!!!!
I agree. Trahan is a stud.

Trahan gets my vote.

I agree

He gets my vote also.  He has been on Varsity since he was a Freshman.

How many of these kicker's play other positions? That is, practice and play some position other than kicker during the game? Or do they just kick all practice?

Billy Joe may be a good kicker and bull rider, but Juan Pancho "El Burro" Gonzales Ochoa has him beat.  He goes to Mexico regularly to participate in their amateur "futbol" leagues down there, what we call soccer.  When at Cornnudas High School in far West Texas, he has kicked from 64, 69, and 74 yards, all down the center.  Though he has been courted by the Detroit Lions, he has decided to take an offer from the Cruz Azul team in Mexico as a striker.  He also particpates in the charreada competition with the "reata", which we know as a lariat.

The kicker from Woodville gets my vote.
He also starts on offense and defense and plays very well.

Billy Joe isn't real
You ain't from West or far West Texas, are ya?  We got jackalopes out there...big as Shetland ponies some of 'em are.  That's the reason Texas Tech throws tortillas in their stadium, so's people can come and get some jackalope fajitas after the game...folks out there are misunderstood...A nice gesture of friendliness is taken the wrong way...

Billy Joe and El Burro are for real though...they have yet to tangle in 6 man football, but I see a day when the two will be exchanging point afters and field goals...

Last year I went to see Schumacker in their district rivalry game just to gloat after he had already put 30 pts worth of field goals on the board he did a hand stand and botted the ball through the uprights on the next kickoff with his left hand.
Er . . . He botted (I'm guessing booted) the ball through the uprights . . . . with his left hand.  All conversation should stop about the young man's leg and we should begin to examine his left hand.  Geeeeez!
