Outsider looking in, however, have experience with the player elegibility proof issue. 1)  Did either team play with an ineligible player?  If that is the case, then the team with the ineligible player forfeits regardless of any "gentleman's agreement" between coaches at the start of the game.  In any level of the sport, there is a prohibition with regard to players being ineligible. 2)  Was the "rule violation" a clerical one?  (Didn't have documents at the start of the game, etc.)  If this is the case, then the game can proceed, provided the documents are provided in the specified time, if the coaches agree to the game being played.  A lot of folks are all about the rules, which is not necessarily a bad thing.  However, there comes a time when you look at it in a sense of degrees.  Physical violations, like intentional tackling in a flag game, spearing, and using prohibited equipment to hurt or intimidate an opponent are unbendable.  Also unbendable is using a kid that does not live within the boundaries, a kid too old or too big, etc.  These are player safety issues.  Clerical rules that are for proof have to be followed with regard to accuracy and veracity of players...you can't lie about the kid playing.  Forgetting the documents?  If this was a professional who got paid to do nothing but remember documents, then, yeah...rake him or her over the coals.  But volunteers?  Come on...if you want perfection, participate more than lip flapping on the sidelines.  God knows a lot of coaches would love to be in your spot for a season or two, and just watch their kid play ball. As to the equal application of the rules...again, is one area getting hammered for clerical violations, and one isn't?  Or is one area getting hammered for more serious violations, and this is just a chance to grouse indignant?

I think holding your kid accountable is part of parenting...you hold him accountable for his performance here and in the classroom...nothing wrong with that... Do you hold him accountable, though, if he does everything as he is supposed to, and then the team still loses big?  Or because someone thinks they are "dogs"?...Sadly, smash, there are some out there that do...having nothing to do with performance, and instead bust their kids on perception...

[/quote] Haven't been part of football for a while.  While I din't disagree that it is INTENDED for entertainment, and that they are entitled to their opinion, let me ask you...why is that opinion being asked for, instead of posting your own opinion and then talking back and forth?  As for rankings, they don't really have a spread number, unless someone assigns one to it.  Rankings are about as useful as the college ones are...homers are going to rank their organizations teams higher.  Spreads are a whole different animal all together.  The point about spreads is that you will bet whether a team wins (or loses) by that much.  If a team gets to or exceeds the point spread, they have "covered the spread", and the bets are paid as such.  Understandable in Vegas...but what's the point here?  Team rankings (which I don't like either, to tell you the truth) don't take into account what a team will win by or lose by.  They just show which team might be stronger.  A spread is really an interesting way to say "this team sucks, and this is how bad".  That is why I can see some wild eyed daddy (or momma) jaw jacking, or even abusing their kid over it, or even attacking a coach over it.  Did the people doing the spreads make them?  Nope...they just provided the spark to light the powder keg.  Admittedly, that can happen anyway... Why is it wen an organization is looking for volunteer coaches, there are very few, yet when the season starts, everyone is a professional?  You ever wonder why kids go without coaches or coaches who might not be the "best"?  People like you that didn't want to do it.  People that want to be sideline coaches but not take the responsibility to accept the losses and the consequences of looking kids in the face and accepting them.  It's great to win, it's stinks to lose, but a coach is there to do the best he (or she) can.  Everyone is a hero from the sidelines, after the play is run, after the game is finished, because they would have done it "differently" even if the plays run were exactly the ones that they would have done in the same situation.  You wanna drive the train?  Jump on when it gets going out of the station, and be the official coach. I don't know Mr. Sonnier, but if he coached before, he should know what it feels like to have people you don't know bad mouthing you.  The comments posted makes it seem like he wanted to be a part of the team, but for reasons unknown (work, other time commitments, etc.) couldn't.  The coach in place may have felt threatened, because, as you can see by the comments here, once one cook gets his spoon in the soup, everyone does.  What that leads to is a team confused as all get out because there are too many chiefs and not enough indians (sorry, Ned, it was the only comparison I could come up with).  I was lucky because, though I was a new transplant to the area, and had a limited knowledge of football, I had parents that supported me, even if at times, my decisions SUCKED.  They had the kids recognizing who was the coach, and a couple of them were college scholarship ball players themselves...they could have taught me a whole lot...but they didn't.  They let me call the plays, they let their kids respect me, and those same kids still call me "coach".  Thanks especially to the Franks, Thomas', Snoddy, Veitch, Edwards', Green, Hill, and Bevil families, among so many others...they made being a complete and utter rookie fun, and the respect they had for any kid and coach was phenomonal... I feel for the whole team, and any team in this situation...because no one has any humility, humility enough to step up and find a solution instead of doing more complaining... Hector M. [/quote] Though in Tustin it was the coaches who went stupid, I think that in some cases, parents will take the spreads and slam on their kids because the spread lists them as double digit underdogs.  It's these same parents who will get all over coaches as well.  The vetting process for coaches is pretty decent in most leagues, but there is no vetting process for parents.  I can see a post where there is an opinion about one team beating another, and smack talk going back and forth in fun...I really can see that.  However, it's usually the parent of one team smack talking with his buddy on an opposing team.  When you put it in a spread form, like Ocho does, it institutionalizes it, making it "official", even if the intent was for something else entirely.  I DO NOT think that Ocho and any other parent has any ill will toward anyone...I think they realize that it is opinion, and that even a +30 team can rise up and play hard and win.  Again, the problem is that there are idiots out there that don't take it as such...and use it to berate their kids, and go after coaches that don't rise to their level of "respectability".

Ya never know. Not taking away from WOS' athletic talent, which is huge, but LCM, in most cases, rises up to the occasion, winning a few, but keeping it close many times.  You don't know with a rivalry like this...Being a homer, I will predict a shocker, with LCM taking it by 3.

We can argue umps all day long...I can argue about the home plate umpire's floating strike zone...at the end of the brouhaha, you had an 8-8 tie, with 2 outs, broken by a grand slam...
