1. BTW...to all the concession stand folks out there...1 case of Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper won't kill your budget...and it might actually increase your profits.  In addition, maybe some less salty, and different fare might increase the intake as well as creating some goodwill.  For those who desire it, speak up!  In fact, if I knew how to create a poll, I would create one with regard to concession stand food ideas.  (Within reason, don't get stupid and say "filet mignon for 5 bucks",... this is for the kids)
2. See, I understand the diabetic angle...I have a son who is type II (adult onset).  I feel though, that if you talk to the concession stand folks, they will provide, in limited supply, diet drinks.  Why limited?  Because, while restaurants and other places (eating establishments) can buy in bulk, and therefore have a better profit to expense ratio, a concession stand doesn't have that option.  We had to buy in limited quantities because we couldn't store larger quantities.  Additionally, the spicy, salty, super sweet stuff, is, sadly, the cheapest.  Here is where we are going to disagree...to me, spending time, even all day, at the ball park, is distinctly different from working the whole day at the ball park.  Those folks working at the concession stand probably have kids that are playing as well, but, in most leagues, it's always the same one taking turns...too many other folks want to spend all day with their kid, understandable, but the work of the league needs to get done.  I am assuming that you haven't worked the concession stand because you didn't mention it in your post.  It would help if you did, not for any brownie points, but 1) because the league needs you, and 2) you can provide a needed perspective for those who suffer with diabetes like you, and this could also help in changing the fare in the concession stand.
3.
Elhector you are in the wrong league, or you need to have a serious talk to your board. Last week I reffed, ran the chains, concessioned, finally got to coach, and then I got to stay late and help clean up. This is a typical game day for all of our coaches and parents
Then you have a GREAT league MoFo. Your parents understand the need to work together to succeed...something that is apparently NOT happening everywhere, judging by all the "belly aching" posts on here...
4. I find it hilarious when someone who thinks he's all that and a bag of chips (from the concession stand, please) because he's a coach and drinks beer with a couple of other bubbas from other leagues purports to know the leagues finances.  Most of these "coaches" don't even participate in league field maintenance, regardless of whether it's football, soccer, or baseball.  They are much too imporant for trivial matters like making sure the league has enough money to operate.  A lot of them live through their kids, and it is beneath them and their station in life to help with anything else other than coaching...why help?  Nobody notices the guys and gals busting their hump in the concession stand...but everybody notices a prima donna dad on the field... As to the "concession stand food costs too much" crowd...I bet you don't put up one little protest when you go to Reliant Stadium or Minutemaid, pay big bucks JUST to get in, pay 7.00 for a hot dog, and 6.00 for nachos.  Does any of this money go toward supporting a league?  Nope!  Does any of this money go toward helping kids play ball?  Nope.  It all makes rich guys richer.  Do you go to the above mentioned parks with food in your purses?  Nope...they would throw you out!  Do you go up to the ticket taker and tell him that simce their food is "too spicy", you're going to bring your own in?  Nope...What you will spend on JFL games all season is a drop in the bucket for what you will sepnd for ONE GAME at the big ball parks.  Please...if you want to really know what it costs to run a league, be on the board, and volunteer for more than the usual "look at me" roles in the league.  Get into the concession stand, work, and help make your league a success instead of being a bunch of prima donnas!
5. to First Down... Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude...you got any Pringles? 24 over par...I don' know when the school was built, but I would hazard to guess that the neighborhood grew up around it...there is parking behind the baseball outfield as well...remember going out to games and a lot of the POP! fizzz crowd having their liquid entertainment while watching the ball game...lol...mostly good folks relaxin', a couple of loudmouths...like everywhere else.  I think that if everyone is screaming and hollering for their own side, and don't start disparaging the other team, there won't be any problems...in other words, folks, control your own...you know who they are...
6. Didn't that touchdown get called back because of the hurdle?  I thought that it was illegal to hurdle a player who has two feet planted, and not diving or lunging...I may be wrong though...
7. The producer in the SETX Sports Forum center has decided to put a soundtrack to that fine comment...if you can't hear it, please cue up "Dueling Banjos" from the "Deliverance" soundtrack...

9. ^^ and the statement from the Bridge City Police Department is made...not what I expected, though... ;D
10.
yeah i remeber this game i was on the field tryin to get te fans in to the game and then i got told that if i did that again they would take me to jail. And when i asked why i would go they told me bcuz i was trying to to make the Kirbyville fans mad so they would fight after the game which is BS
This reminds me of the movie "The Express" about Ernie Davis, the first African American Heisman winner, who played for Syracuse.  His coach would not let him score a touchdown in the first half against West Virginia because there might be "trouble" after the game from the Mountaineer fans.  (This was '59-'60). I guess the BC police department needs to investigate the actions of it's officers, and the reason that there was a large visible police presence on the WOS side, and not on the BC side.  As of right now, intimidation of the WOS fans seems to be the main reason that the police were there.  If no reason from the BC police department is forthcoming, then people will start drawing their own conclusions about the intentions of the BC police, and by extension, justified or not, the whole police department.
11. My apologies for losing my cool...but people like that burn me up when they go after kids on a forum...
12. McShan, I am truly sorry that you were evicted from your 3rd string waterboy position, but with the cutbacks, there was nothing BC could do.  On a side note, are you related to SidelineFan55 and some of those other nasty children that were playing on another thread?  You fit the same MO...come on here after your feeble dreams are crushed, and feel that you have to downgrade someone else...I would say there is always McDonald's, McShan, but that fine organization has standards that you fail to meet even on your best day...isn't the first amendment wonderful?  You can post what you want, and since you are an unknown entity hiding behind a prune avatar and a screen name, I can surmise what I want about your character, or lack thereof, based on what you post, which is pretty much childish gibberish.  I would say have fun on the short bus, and don't forget your helmet, but then, I would be maligning those fine challenged individuals that need the service and protection with the likes of you...who is not even worthy to carry their shoelaces.  Have fun in Candyland!
13. All right!?  Who the heck forgot to give McShan his dosage and left the door open AGAIN so he could sneak into the library again!  They are getting tired of wiping up after him!  And make sure he's wearing clothes next time!  And someone PLEASEEEE take that prune avatar off of his page...lord knows that he doesn't need to be reminded about doing THAT!  He does it with his mouth ALL the time!
14.
Oh, and by the way, your post sounds like a homily ;) ;D
I threw holy water on your post...it sizzled... ;D Thanks, kick! BTW, thanks for kinda outing me...lol... :D
15. I think that, consistently, the kids on the field respect each other, much as the gladiators of old respected each other.  THey knew that they would have to battle each other, even though they may have been friends in the training arena.  So, who doesn't get respected? 1.  Loudmouths on this site that ran their mouths at work the past week, who hate the tase of crow feathers in their mouths.  They have to let thier frustration out somewhere, so they come on this site, and stir the pot.  They can't wear their letterman's jackets anymore, but they play the game in their brains, and there, they always win. 2.  People who mistake a football game for crime city central.  Y'all know what I am talking about... 3.  People who can't seem to understand that all of this is a GAME!  It's not a religion, it's not a fight between kingdoms, where one must hate the other side CONSISTENTLY to show how much they belong.  In this football season, there was no lines respected when one of their own, a gladiator, fell on the field.  BC, LC-M, Orangefield, Vidor, all of us came together to honor that young man, and still honor him.  To those who forget the lesson of Reggie, then, maybe you need to learn what respect is...all the young men in pads who play the game know what it is...they show that respect to each other...it's time we followed the example.
16.
Is this the same cop that arrested a player during the game a couple of weeks ago?  :)
As I remember at that game, the player in question was assaulting others, including his own players and coaching staff...this one sounds like a cop who overstepped his bounds, and used his office for his own personal agenda...

If i remember right, diden't a teacher at LCM report it to the principle and they waited 2 weeks till they played WOS to report it and WOS had to forfit all their games???  WOS had a good team that year... were going to be district champs... I still have the image of them crying in their lockerroom that i seen on the news.... If I remember right, that just shows how carma can bite you in the rear...

If this is the direction that this thread is headed it should be deleted. WOS and LCM have made great strides this year. I don't see the point in bringing all of this back up. 23. I kind of see Kerry's point though...the report wasn't on LCM having an ineligible player it was on the investigation itself...To me, though, if you are going to accuse anyone, have the guts to stand by the accusation and don't do it "little girly bubble gum" style with the anonymous notes and letters.  That phase of life usually ends about junior high...of course, we still practice it on here...OOOOWWWW...I "zinged" myself!... ;D
