The Train by 7 is my prediction. I will say this though, whichever team has more success throwing the ball should win since that is both teams weakness.

Wow I thought Lumberton had a gun slinger? If they are a running team we should be able to take this one. How does the L train stack up against Central?

First off...Lumberton should have more success throwing the ball in this game. Second, they are not just another running team. They are a very good running team that can and will run on U at will! Just ask anyone from outside of Lumberton that has seen these backs run the ball against their teams this year and they will tell U what they're capable of.

Lumberton has big, bruising, qualtiy backs... but I don't agree that they run at will on anyone.

Good luck to both of these teams. My heart says vidor... My head says Lumberton.

I'm not going to sit here and say they will run on anyone at will, but until someone shows that they can shut them down it will be a hard time getting the win for the opposing team.

im sorry, but who have you played with a defense...

we have played central...

Look ...Central hasn't done anything yet for you to be using them as a barometer. They beat a bad Memorial team by 3 and they beat U. That ain't saying much now is it? I hope the Raiders win this game and I hope they blow Vidor out so I can come on here tomorrow and let U know all about it. Vidor could pull a win out...I just don't think they will. BUt all of these statements about 300 yards rushing and Vidor wins by 2-3 td's is just not reality.

Just wondering.....  Who told Vidor they were good this year?

Who told you that Lumberton was good? Cause apparently, you were told that yall were good and we weren't. Are you going by records? Yards from Scrimmage? Points allowed? All that good stuff or is it just a gut feeling that you have? Maybe the tooth fairy left a note on your pillow that Lumberton has a good football team? Just wondering where YOU got your info from..

Well lets see -For Lumberton,  a team coming off a 3 deep playoff run last year, I have seen all three games in 2008, they get better with each game.  Soild team doing many of the things that got them to the playoffs last year.

For Vidor, saw the Lum / Vidor game last year (enough said there), for 2008, been watching the opponets and game results (hmmmm).

My point to the earlier post was, What is the basis for Vidor folks coming on here and predicting a huge win?  I don't get it?  IF you were 3-0 and blowing team away I could understand but that has not been the case.  I guess a one point loss to Central is a confidence builder.  Give me something to try and understand how Vidor will dominate the Raiders.

A must win for Vidor i think.

Exactly. For confidence and for post-season hope...

yep

maybe so, but vidor will not be able to stop the run and will not run the ball on Lumberton. don't let the central game be a barometer for anyones season, from what I saw, they were not very impressive, if anyone has a decent running game, the jags shouldn't be a problem.   the only advice I have for vidor is make sure your mouth piece is in at all times, because it's comin'! not being cocky, just stating a fact!

::) ::) Whatever you say...  ::) ::)

I will say that I did hear through the grapevine that the Jags didn't really look all that great on film. I don't know, I haven't actually seen them play in person but just going by what I heard.

Every game, we have gotten better and better.  Keep looking down on the Jags if you want.  Our boys will just keep rising to the challenge and win ball games.

That Memorial team has a good defense with a couple of D-1 prospects.  They are a good QB from becoming beastly.  Vidor kicked it in another gear in the 4th quarter.  That's Why I am picking them with a win over lumberton.  If they can kick it up to that gear, they will be pretty salty.

Vidor 8 - Lumberton 7

This score sounds familiar... ;) ;)

Hahahaahhahahahahahahaha

I thought it was funny myself...hence me quoting the Friendswood vs Dayton score...42-20.  ;)

You know I can't help it  ;).  Dayton's going to have their hands full with Northforest tonight, hope they don't bring the team they took to Friendswood!

If Matthews can do whatever he did to get Vidor fired up like in our second half, I will pick Vidor 31-14.  They will get a long FG or 2 in this.  Their kicker has a foot!

no he doesnt... our kicker is terrible... he missed a 26 yarder and about 3 extra points so far this year

He is sophomore, and this is his first year to kick... Kicking isn't as easy as you think it is, give him a break... Yeah he missed that FG but it's not the end of the world... And $20 says when he makes one that keeps us in the game, that you say he's one of the best...

Lumberton fans... Do not listen to the Vidor people coming on here saying it's gunna be a blowout because EVERYONE knows that is not going to happen... But also ya'll have no reason to say it's going to be a blowout either just by basing who has played who in non-district, or by who went to the playoffs last year... If Vidor wins it will be by a TD or less... Which I hope is the case... I just want to see a good game...

You go Soulja, although I fully expect Lumberton to win when we play Central. But, Central is one team you never take your eyes off of. You guys have always had talent, even when the season or score doesn't go your way. That's why I think you guys will be in the post season. As for Veederville, it's the cry wolf syndrome. If you guys holler that you're gonna win loud enough it gives you an excuse to say how the refs gave the game away when you lose. ;) By the way, you did play a pretty good agame against Central, I was pulling for you all the way. I guess that comes from pulling for L-town for the last 42 years, you kind of get used to rooting for the underdog. Tonight it's going to be Lumberton all the way baby!!!!!!!! Oh, and one more thing....who told us we were good? Let's see, Dave Campbell for one and the Houston Chronicle standings ( although you can't put much faith in them since they had Livingston ahead of us the last time I saw them) and I forget the name of the statistical poll that had us like 45th in the state while Vidor was like waaay down there.

Some of these predictions just boggle the mind. Maybe some of U people can maybe explain or rationalize just why Vidor is such the favorite this year and in this game particularly. I'm not saying they can't possibly win this game as anyone can lose on any given night but just what has Vidor done or accomplished since last season until now that would make some people believe that they will beat Lumberton by 2-3 td's?  ??? They have beaten a weaker Kelly team with a not so dominant performance and some other team that I've never heard of and can't even remember their name...no disrespect. Some will say, well they almost beat the Jags. Well, how do we even know if Central is even that good this year. Some of their fans will say they are way better, but do we really know yet? They got handled by WB, barely beat Memorial, & just beat Vidor by the hair of their chinny chin chin. Maybe Vidor & Central are pretty even as teams as a whole, but that still doesn't mean that either one of them are great teams at all. I'm not saying Vidor can't win this game, I just don't understand the logic behind some of these predictions. It seems that a lot of people think that since Lumberton was able to do what they did last year that Vidor is automatically going to follow suit with this dream season. Maybe they can...but what have they really done to show that? For the most part, don't they have many of the same players from last year with the exception of a few? Just don't get it. It seems that this year is no different than last year for the Raiders as they will have to go 5-0 or 6-0 before some people will begin giving them some respect and some of the HATERS on this board will never give them their respect even if they go on and win another district title. That's ok though...the more people doubt and disrespect will once again have to just except the facts at the end of the season and be mad that their most HATED team proved the them wrong once again. They'll just keep flying under the radar! Like one poster previously said...Why are we giving Vidor so much credit  ??? I'm sure this will make the HATERS mad.

maybe it has something to do with us averaging 300 yards rushing a game???

We shall see if Vidor averages 300 a game against this D. If they do, I will give them props, but I seriously doubt that will happen. We have some speed on D and some size. Everyone says, word is Lumberton is bigger this year but slower...not the case.

central had way more speed on d than yall, and they had a few big boys too

Headed out to what I expect to be another beatdown of another Pi Rats team. It is ashame that the fans put so much into this game. Looks like another long season for the Pi Rats but if they win I will crown them State Champs like Pirate thinks they are!

Where was the beatdown at? Hanna is a terrible sportsman, seems to have a little bit a rage that he needs to take care of. I was most impressed by the Beard kid an animal on defense and offense. Got to give Kudos to Teinert though because he made plays on both sides of the ball.
