forREALtho Posted Wednesday at 11:44 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:44 AM I predict a Hardin victory. I haven’t seen EC play or know anything about them this year Just basing it off the info on here. I know Jones went over 200 yards and 4 TDs against OF. No telling how many tackles. That man deserves some respect. Quote

2wedge Posted yesterday at 03:37 PM Report Posted yesterday at 03:37 PM The Taylor game plan of grinding the clock with a series of runs by Trevor Jones, coupled with tough defensive play from the Hornets will win them this ball game and may actually lead to an undefeated regular season slate for Hardin. I like what I am seeing from the Hornets so far. As long as Jones stays healthy, they will be a tough out for anybody they line up against. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted yesterday at 04:26 PM Report Posted yesterday at 04:26 PM Maybe I haven't watched enough film on Hardin, but from what I have seen so far is that Hardin will line the Jones kid on one side of the wing and then run him to the opposite side just about every time. But if a team can't stop it, why change? I have seen enough football in my lifetime and from my experience (mostly watching Silsbee when I broadcast their games back in the day, and talking with their coaches) the best way to stop slot or wing offenses were to basically sacrifice your Dline and have them disrupt the blocking schemes and not so much make the tackles. This allows the linebackers to be freed up to make the plays. If the Oline can't get to the LB's, that style offense seems to struggle. I saw Silsbee (and other teams) do this so many times against the Orangefields, Vidors and Hardin-Jeffersons who run those type offenses. I know Silsbee basically had their Dline guys just dive forward and wreck the Olines ability to pull or get to second level to carry out their blocking schemes. Silsbee LB's were able to basically "Tee off" on the running backs. Just an observation of mine. I am certainly no Defensive Co. Quote

The teams Bellville have struggled more with as far as running the ball do this as well.. Celina, Hitchcock, and Columbus all did it this year. Now granted in years past teams have done it and it still didn’t work as well just because of the talent of the backfield and blocking capability of the other backs that don’t get the ball. Quote

But kirkwood29 or yoda (whichever username is being used at the time) implied that all starters were pulled when the 4th quarter started and that simply isn't true or at the least very misleading. The last EC drive was filled with backup players including EC. Texasdude281 1 Quote
