pine curtain Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 What are your thoughts on running the clock when the game is out of hand? Quote

purple reign Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 it seems to me that the losing coach would already know beforehand that it would get out of hand and just forfeit. I'm not aware of anybody in college or pros that have the option of a running clock. Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 Not a fan of it, but it has its place. Example, 2A D2 school suits up 15-18 kids and is down 40+ at half with 2 players injured. Playing a "full" 2nd half benefits nobody and could end a season for some kids just enjoying being part of a team. Heck, they could be getting demolished by the #1 team in the state and still have a legitimate playoff opportunity and could possibly win a 1st round game. Maybe a mercy rule for 2A could exist like it does for 6man. Who knows? My mostly useless opinion since the question was posed. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
89Falcon Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 Without it you can prepare to see 100 point beat downs. There are frequent scenarios where teams are mentally/physically done and can no longer fight back. Injuries can happen in these scenarios. Also, there is no point in dragging out embarrassments for kids. AggiesAreWe and myrecordwashorrible 2 Quote

I also think the coach that is on the losing end of things should determine if a running clock is used. Coach.Shu 1 Quote
