Congratulations to him on a long and effective career, all at the same school. He was a part of the most consistent era of success against PNG, as well as several good playoff runs. Good luck to Coach Barrow in whatever he does after.

Now, the question becomes, what process will NISD follow to select the new coach? Will they follow PNG’s and try to get a handpicked young guy with pedigree? Will they simply open it up statewide see who shows up? Or will they go in-house again?

With Nederland it will be the cheapest and easiest way possible.

Has NISD or Barrow released anything official yet on retirement, resigned or re-assigned? Until then the 7 year time clock can not be prepared to be activated for the new coach

No in house hire will happen. Committee will be put together, with 2 surprising names on the panel to assist with the hire.

With the immediate head coaching success Jeff Joseph has had at PNG, the in house hire at Nederland is out the window. Even NISD Super. & school board can't be that dumb & not follow a similar process PNG isd did.

Hopefully there’s a sound plan to go outside….. This wasn’t a surprise to anyone, especially those responsible for hiring his replacement…. I’d be willing to bet a former coach is on the search committee….

It's my understanding he is retiring but that could have changed.
