Hagar’s Ramblings

This might be political but since it’s the Ramblings of an old man, probably better here.  This post is about who should be voting.  There are two things that I’ll use to preface - First, The Bible, 2 Thessalonians 3:10,  essentially, “if a man does choose not to work, he shall not eat”.  So if you don’t have skin in the game, you go hungry.  Second, the (goofy) movie Starship Troopers, a futuristic tale of earth fighting arachnids in space, but the thing was, only veterans got to vote.  Our brilliant Founding Fathers never anticipated folks living on welfare.  Had they, I’m convinced they would’ve enacted rules for who can vote.  Take a local school board election.  People living on the dole turn out and vote, but they don’t pay school taxes.  If you don’t pay school taxes, why should you have a hand In electing people who might want to raise taxes?  If you don’t pay, you have no skin in the game.  Same thing for National Elections.  If you don’t pay income tax, you don’t vote.  To me, that makes perfect sense.  But realistically, it’ll never happen.  Never accuse our current politicians of having much sense.  In Congress we have 535 people.  I doubt their collective “sense” would equal those of the 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence.

I’m concerned, bordering on worried.  Not about Covid, but about the fact that so many stores and restaurants are out of things..  Even Walmart, which holds its suppliers to a high standard.  Called one of my pizza places and ordered Buffalo Wings.  Was told they wouldn’t have any for over a month.  At a local restaurant and ordered fried ribs.  Nope. Tried to buy Gatoraid at Walmart - out.  The fact that so many places are out of so many things should concern us all.  I’m 76 and have never seen this before.  Currently it’s inconvenient, but if it continues, or heaven forbid gets worse, it could get out of hand.  Never thought I’d see this in America.  Just a heads up for you folks.  What’ll it be like five years from now?  IMO, this Socialist welfare system is at the root of the problem.  Folks on welfare are making more than if they went to work.  Can’t blame them.  I hope, someday soon, enough voters will realize what’s going on and elect some politicians who’ll actually stop this insanity.

What’s up with Habits?  We get in them, then they start controlling us to an extent.  Like that first cup of coffee in the morning.  Imo, tobacco, which is addictive, is also a habit.  Smokers/dippers know there are certain moments when a cigarette or dip is appropriate.  That’s one reason tobacco is so hard to give up.  You have to conquer the addiction and the habit.  My own example is nightguards.  My Dentist made me one because I have grinded (ground?) my teeth down to nothing (I still have all my teeth, but all of my teeth aren’t there anymore, lol).  Knowing he was right, I tried to remember to wear the thing, but it was hit & miss for a long time.  After much effort over a long period of time, I finally got in the habit of wearing it.  Now, if I go to bed without it, I’ll realize it’s not there & have to get up & get it.  I’ve always heard we are creatures of habit.  I agree, but I think we’re also slaves of habits.  Tobacco is a bad one, my nightguard is a good one, but regardless of good or bad, habits are here to stay.

I gave up cigarettes after 35 years of smoking Marlboro reds. Quit cold turkey and been quit for 20 years now. The addiction is as powerful as heroin. The habit…..first one in the morning with that habitual cup of coffee, lighting up after a meal, going out drinking and smoking one pack per beer ( not that bad but it seemed that way).

I think we have habits that we maybe don’t realize until something is missing or not working properly….

Forget your watch and you will realize how often you look at it. You will look down at a bare wrist all day long.

How about a clock that is wrong or has stopped. Didn’t know you looked at that clock that much, huh?

Seat belts have become a habit. Couldn’t stand them at first….too binding. Now, I cant drive without it. Plus my vehicle reminds me very rudely that I may have forgotten to buckle it.

Finally, my wife has taken interest in her nails. She has stopped biting them. It has added an expense but is well worth not seeing her with her fingers around her mouth.

There are plenty more, but I’ll let someone else contribute.

Reminds me of an interview I heard of Ozzy Osbourne years ago.  Told the interviewer that kicking his heroin habit was a piece of cake compared to quitting smoking.  The interviewer started laughing and Ozzy said immediately, “I’m not bloody joking mate.”

If I lit one up today, I would be immediately as addicted as I was for years. Cold turkey wasn’t easy and I had help in the form of a chest cold, so bad I couldn’t even draw half a drag without coughing my fool head off. I did actually lay them down and surprised myself that I hadn’t smoked for 3 days (couldn’t). Still had the craving but it was manageable then. I also wanted to quit, which is the most important element. It had gotten so bad that I couldn’t even finish a sentence without taking another breath. I literally stopped talking mid sentence and drew in another breath. If one knows they SHOULD quit but really don’t WANT to, they won’t be successful.

So here is my 2 cents on this getting old thing . . . I am going to do my best to teach my grandchildren that there is a better way and to never be a victim. As a father I am 50/50 on that, my daughter is a victim and my son is not and he is the one with children at least right now. I wish I could have been 100% but I am also not responsible for the choices of another adult but still I didn't stop loving my daughter.  I will fight to keep my children free in a world where that meaning is blurred but here is the rub.  Using Fauci  as an example he said "people need to give up their freedom for the good of society." This is why I will fight for my grandchildren because FREEDOM isn't safe but it is a heck of a good time.    I hope this makes some kind of sense.

Made perfect sense to me, but that’s one older person to another.  Younger folks have new vocabularies.  My introduction into this word game stuff came one day many years ago when talking in front of a couple of my G’kids - I said “cr-p”, which was the word we children used in lieu of the sh-t word (back in the day).  My daughter said, “don’t use that word in front of the children.  I stood there, mouth open, trying to grasp what she said.  Us old folks have a lot to learn.  😂🤣😂

Habits are strange things. Back in the mid seventies if you were to doze off at work those guys that I worked with thought it was great fun to put pepper in your mouth or feed you some string or other foreign substance. So I got in the habit of sleeping with my mouth closed. That turned into clenching my jaws. I have ben retired for a long time now and I still clinch my jaws when I sleep. ( If I sleep much at all, thanks to 35+years of shift work.)

Things are really getting weird.  Imo, a lot of this is due to Covid.  The staying in so much instead of getting out.  For some the fear of Covid.  The mask wearing (yes, I think it affects many mentally).  Add to that the excessive welfare paying people to stay home and not work.  Here are some of the results - young folks beating up 60-70 year old women - stores out of stock - people that are working that either can’t do their jobs are have just become air-heads due to Covid.  Here’s a couple of examples.  We received an email we owed a Dr $12.  Drove into Beaumont to pay him.  Go up and they tell us we’d had a credit which covered the $12.  Time and money wasted.  A member of the family had appointments at a world renowned hospital in Houston.  11/17 to see Dr. & 11/23 for Lab & Therapy, all at main Hospital.  Get on their web site and ask for Lab & Therapy to be moved to site at The Woodlands.  They replied our request was approved & what they did was moved Dr Appt to the 23rd, all in Htn.  Ask again Lab & Therapy moved to Woidlands.  They moved Lab but left Dr & Therapy in Htn.  Talk about cluster fudge.  Finally a lady called & apologized.  She said the folks in Sch evidently had no common sense (I readily agreed).  She finally got them to correct it.  When folks can’t interpret a simple request, especially at a world renowned facility, what’s up.  Simply put, head up anal cavity.  Why?  Only thing different now - Covid, and the resulting mental deficiencies.  The Liberal Media has turned this bad disease into a big monster, and many people can’t handle it.  Sad to see Americans turned into mush over something like Covid.  Hate to see what would happen if we have to face a real big crisis like the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918.  Smdh.

About resistance to the Covid vaccine.  Some think the vaccine may contain a chip similar to the “Mark of the Beast” foretold in the book of Revelations/Apocalypse.  Whether it does or not, the vaccine shot, documentation of shot, is becoming a similar thing.  Now, in many States, you can’t go out to eat if you don’t have proof of the vaccine.  Can’t hold a job.  Can’t attend many events.  So how much further must they go?  You can’t go & buy groceries without proof - that’d just about do it.  Is this whole Covid vaccine actually the Mark of the Beast, or as I believe, merely a trial run to prepare them/us for the actual Mark of the Beast?  Many shrug off these predictions, but should they rethink their opinions?  I’m very concerned.  There’s many predictions in The Bible open to interpretation, but some aren’t.  This Mark of the Beast is one that isn’t.  Keep your eyes open folks.  I fear some alive now will see the proof of it.  I just hope they don’t see it to late.  Hope I’m wrong, but based on the facts, I’m not.

Btw, I’ve had the vaccines & the booster.  I’m not an anti-vaxxer, but I am anti-evil.

Revelations/Apocalypse Chap 13, Vs 17 - “And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had that mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Very interesting. I have read that this vaccine may contain DNA altering qualities which, if true, we could be told that since our DNA has been “altered”, we could be considered non-human and lose our human rights. Far stretch for sure, but I put nothing past the communists.

Just watched my oldest G’daughter walk across the stage with her Masters Degree.  Not a bad legacy for someone who had to brownose his HS English teacher 🥴.  Proud of her.  Wasn’t a gift.  She worked full time while getting this.  At my age and health, not many special days left but wanted to share this one with y’all.  Got my oldest G’son coming home on leave from the Marines tomorrow.  Be glad to see him.  Setting up to be a good Christmas.

As my feeble brains remembers things, I have to pass them along before it hits delete.  This was a humorous situation.  As I remember, my daughter was about 13 or 14 in her first or second year of Jr High.  At the age when you had to wear “the in thing”.  In this period it was Guess jeans, which were relatively expensive.  We could get 2 or 3 regular jeans for the cost of the Guess.  My daughter was insisting she had to have a pair.  Like most families in that stage of life, money was a never ending struggle.  She confronted me, hands on hips.  All 5’ of her with “that look” on her face, saying, “Dad, I’ve got to have a pair of those jeans”.  I stared down at her, wishing we had the money to get her a pair without worrying about how we’d pay the electric bill and said, “I’m sorry baby but I don’t make enough money that we can afford them”.  She paused, just a moment.  Just long enough for me to think I’d made my point - end of crisis.  Then, with that look on her face that all females possess (an evolutionary trait?), she said, “Well   get   another   job”!  Each word pronounced loudly, with a pause between each.  First came shock, followed by a burst of laughter.

It’s one of those priceless moments I’ll take to the grave.  Four years later, her brother went into the Marines, we could afford to get her those jeans.  He was an eating machine.  As a Soph, he had an eating contest between him and a Senior on the football team, who was 6’5” & weighed 260.  My son made him holler uncle (he takes after his mother, lol).

Priceless. Kids make the world go around. You described it so well, I could see her with her hands on her hips with that “look”. I have no daughters but I have a grand daughter who will probably have a similar attitude. lol

My 10 year old son came up to me while I was in my recliner and asked very nicely if he could go ride the 4 wheeler. It was an automatic Kodiak 400 which was really too big for him (his feet didn’t touch the floor boards), but he could operate it anyway. I told him to knock himself out….. It’s what I bought the automatic for so he could ride it. Little did I know that he had already asked his mom, who was sitting across the room, if he could ride it and she had told him no, not until he did some chores for her. She said “Cody, I already told you no a while ago.” He told her,” Hey, you’re always butting in when I’m talking to my Dad.” I almost covered my head when he said that (flying objects), but looked over at my wife, and like Hagar, we could do nothing but laugh or butts off. He didn’t even get scolded and got to ride the 4 wheeler anyway. Thanks for listening. Something I’ll never forget.

I feel COVID, vaccines and cards are a global conditioning tool towards compliance for the mark and other prophetic situations. Small steps need to be made so some won’t see the big picture. JMO

These stories go from humor above to stupidity here.

Most of us have one of those moments.  The ones where you know better but the little horned demon on your shoulders, fueled by alcohol, talks you into it.  I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Carson.  It was a fall evening and me & one of my buddies (Zeke Zaralka, big pollack from Illinois) had made the short drive in my car into Colorado Springs to kill (drown) as many brain cells as possible.  After slaughtering more than either one of us could afford to lose, we decided to head back to base - and why not take a pint of Jack back with us.  Sure it was against the rules, but our little demons assured us it would be okay, after all the MP’s had never stopped us before.  As I approached the gate the MP jumped in the middle of the road with his hand up.  Immediately both our rear ends started taking bites out of the front seat.  Just in case they happened to glance in the car, Zeke had stuffed the pint down the front of his pants.  Not only did they stop us, but the first thing they said was, “Get out of the car”.   My mind is thinking, Oh 💩💩💩, and my sphincter factor was a 12 on the 1-10 tight scale.  Zeke played on our unit football team, and as he came out of my car, all 6’5”, 250#’s, he suddenly bent over & grabbed his crotch.  I immediately knew what happened (yes, the bottle had started falling).  In a moment of clarity, brought on by fear, I ran around the front and steadied Zeke while asking him if he was okay.  The MP’s wanted to know what’s going on.  Zeke was scared 💩less & speechless and said nothing.  He later told me he figured I had a plan.  I told them he’d got injured in the groin during a recent game & was suppose to be resting but stupid me had taken him out.  I started helping him back in the car.  Now the MP’s are concerned.  They don’t want to get into trouble so they want to call a base ambulance.  I assured them the Dr said this might happen & all he needed was getting back in the barracks and some rest.  I got Zeke in the car.  The MP’s still want to get help, but I’d ran around & jumped in starting the car, so they let us go.  We were too scared to laugh until much later.  Not my finest moment, and I had no idea what the penalty was for sneaking hard booze on the base - The Rack?  Firing squad?  Beheading?  I can assure y’all of one thing, old Hagar never tried that stunt again.
Btw, y’all don’t try this at home guys.  😂😂🤣😂😂

This is an interesting topic, the power of our brains, that I wish we knew more about.  Most of it seems untapped.  For instance, I’m sure most of you have seen where they’ve done a drug test where half the participants are given placebos.  Usually quite a few of the group taking the placebo will record reactions from them - headache, sick stomach, trouble sleeping, feel better, pain is gone, sleep better.  And some with an ailment may actually improve, even with the placebo.  Seems to me the brain is making our body do things that we can’t ordinarily make it do.  I remember this vividly from my teenage years.  My Dad worked at the Shipyard in Beaumont for Bethlehem Steel.  He was a foreman (I think the title was Quarterman).  In those days they built big offshore drilling rigs there.  He had to do a lot of climbing and Dad was in his 50’s.  He’d often wake up at night with a charley horse.  My Mom was old school & maybe the most superstitious person I’ve ever known.  She also knew a few ridiculous cures.  She kept telling my Dad, “Tie 13 knots on a string & tie it around your ankle & it’ll stop those cramps.  My Dad, being very pragmatic, would laugh it off.  Finally, tired of listening to Mom, and tired of waking up dancing with Charley, he told her to tie the string.  Yep, no more charley horses.  My Dad told me, “I know there’s nothing to that string bs, but however it works it’s stopped them durn cramps”.  For him, it was a love/hate deal, lol.  I’ve no doubt we have more power in our brains than we know how to use.  Maybe someday……..
