It will be tough to repeat in all of these areas, but look to compete in most.

Some in the Triangle might be rethinking their desire to have BH in the local district.

And where will BH go next? It seems to me the community has loftier expectations in football than what reality dictates.

That is the same in most communities in Texas when it comes to football.  Some schools extend those loftier expectations in other sports also.

But when you pay top dollar for THE biggest name in TX HS FB, wouldn't it stand to reason that "loftier expectations" would naturally follow?

It's a process, but they'll continue to get better in football.  The entire community is committed to building a big time winner, and all the conditions are conducive for it to happen.  They have the right guy to get it done... I just hope the community realizes it takes time to get done.

In a lot of places when you shell the money out to "bring in a known winner" it's really just polishing a turd.  Parents still don't accept the fact that their gene pool has a bigger play in wins and losses.

I completely understand the whole mindset though. It's the shiny new object that's going to solve everyone's problems and it bothers me that people are that gullible to think one person will be the catalyst for change.

To me when people take that mindset it's no different than these "select" ball parents shelling out thousands of dollars a year to win a "world series" or those that spend money on private trainers to make JR a college athlete..."I paid the money and expect immediate and long term success!"

The Westerburg salary:  The biggest myth in TXHSFB.

Well, TW aside, the real "salary" emcompasses more than just the $$ paid out to a  coach. You have to look at the whole package, much of which might be beyond the quick glance of the general public.

Does the spouse of the hire get handed a high paying ISD job? Son(s) hired and set up? Daughter(s)? Brother(s) Close freinds? Perks?

Lets be real, so much goes on behind the scenes in so many districts. There is AMPLE evidence if anyone looks deeper in most cases. I have seen a whole lot through the years in SETX.

I agree, but this doesn't happen only in High School Football, lets not pretend managers don't hire their buddies and family first, often over more qualified people. I would say this happens in almost every industry. I think this is just normal in the world we live in. People in management will hire people they trust Ie family and friends. That's why when the manager is fired in most business's you have to clean house so the new manager can bring in their people.

BH also won the underwater basket weaving DC! It was tough against Dayton , but they suck so bad the water disappeared once they entered the pool.

Yall don’t worry about TW we like him just fine. Glad we’re in this district:)

I agree. I never pretended otherwise. Not sure why you implied that.

Nepotism is at epedemic levels in some places. I could tell you stories, but I won't, LOL.

Didn’t mean to imply you didn’t EC, Was just adding my thoughts to the situation. People get upset about Westerberg and his wife and son having jobs in the same district and I was just trying to say it’s not uncommon it happens all the time.

Same about the stories some of these plant managers are crazy lol

Its all good. I must say I agree with the thread that BH has been impressive across most sports lately. I hope the Softball and Baseball teams can keep their playoff runs going!

Of course what I am about to say is pure speculation.  I know there are different views on whether the coach is the most important piece or the players.  My thought has always been it's the coach.  So, let me ask your opinion:  With the QB that PN-G had over the past two years, do you think that the coach at Carthage or Aledo could have had PN-G challenging for the State Championship and possibly won it once or twice?

Fort Bend Marshal 53

PNG 14

PNG was completely out manned in that game. They had 4 dudes score multiple TD's. As special as RJ was at PNG, in my opinion, the answer would be no. RJ didn't have enough around him to compete with that Fort Bend Marshall team.

Maybe the coach would have a better game plan other than run RJ until his tongue is on the turf, but I agree with Coach01  he didn't have a ton of weapons.  Which is why I don't look for PNG to be as competitive this year.   (Cue the PNG folks! :) )

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
