Silsbee 98 Hardin-Jefferson 61/FINAL

I predicted 98-62 at the start of the game.  I'm super impressed with the Tigers' team speed and ability to move the ball up the court on the break.  They scored a couple of layups where they took the ball the length of the court and made a layup without the ball ever touching the floor. Good luck the rest of the way, tigers!

Good win by the Tigers but definitely not one of our better played games overall. First of course was terrible shooting at the free throw line.  Then we had our second straight game where we jumped out big but kind of disappear in the second quarter. We als need to cut out the unforced turnovers.  We must have had at least 5 or 6 passes tonight that were just not good.  Mistakes like that may be very costly in a tighter game.

Still proud of my guys and the way they are getting afte it out there.  And I said it before and will say it again,  it always feels good to send HJ home.

A few quick stats

Silsbee was 14/33 (42%) FT, 6/33 (18%) 3 point. Tigers also had 23 turnovers. Silsbee out rebounded the Hawks 51-30. HJ had 35 turnovers.

Silsbee out scored HJ 55-29 in 2nd half.

Did not realize we were that bad from behind the arc.

Wow!!! I wasn't at the game, but it seems like HJ allowed a ton of layups. Transition defense certainly would & slowing the game down may have kept them within 20 points. Silsbee definitely is as talented as advertised, but the question & comment I have are; how can a Coach of Silsbee's experience @ longevity allow his team to jack up 30+  3's in a 32 minute game?? Old school Coaches catering to this Asinine summer ball style of play. If you can't run an offensive set young pups, you will be riding the pine or on the first thing smoking back to SETX if you're fortunate enough to play at the next level. I'm sure the kids practice FT's constantly, so I'm not sure why they shot so poorly. Hopefully against better competition Silsbee can tighten up a few areas as some of their fans mentioned previously

Ahhh come on coach lol the ole summer comment. Man when you are as talented as Silsbee is with as many shooters as they have, you don't tell them to stop shooting. Shooters are gonna shoot the open shots. You might tell your team to try and work it inside more, but that is not Silsbee's style at all. Run n gun, layups and 3's. Don't allow the other team to set up in the zone.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
